We were a group of six for two nights. The house was really well equipped, including a good sound system and wi-fi. We rented the pontoon boat and made a day of going over to the beach on Sapelo. Great fresh crab feast on our return, all pulled from the traps off the dock.. Brought dogs, they had at least as good a time as we did. The house can manage as many as 12 (room for six in the basement) but may work best for 3-4 couples. There's a semi-resident (4') alligator who visits the pond out back and good fishing from the dock. A unique and fun place to spend a few days.
We had a great time on Eagle Island. Andy generously donated this weekend to the Candler Clays fundraising event. The house was very well stocked with all the amenities. We arrived to find our food delivered and our drinks chilled. The outdoor living space was beyond our expectations. Our kids enjoyed the hot tub, cooking smores, and catching fish off the dock. We can't wait to go back! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful property with us.
Great place, cool basement, perfect location, well stocked kitchen, wonderful patio. We loved it. Couldn't figure out the TV-our fault-we are total dweebs.
If you are looking to literally get away from it all, Eagle Island is the place. Spectacularly appointed, upscale coastal rustic home on beautifully landscaped, 10 acre PRIVATE island situated among the vast salt marshes and tidal creeks of coastal Georgia. Captain Andy met us at the Darien docks and ferried us out to the island for five days of pure relaxation and seclusion. All of our provisions were stocked and our beer and wine was chilled and waiting when we stepped off the boat. After a personal guided tour of the house and grounds, Andy left us to enjoy the most peaceful and relaxing vacation in a long time. Walking trails, fire pits, outdoor Five Moon shower for two, hot tub, kayaks, outdoor kitchen, commercial ice maker, crab traps and bait, surround sound stereo inside and out, rocking chairs, swinging bed, hammock. Day three Craig (Andy's assistant) ferried us to Sapelo Island for the day. Seven miles of deserted beach. Sand dollars, shells, driftwood, but best of all nobody for miles. Andy has thought of everything. We did not want for anything, except for more time. Didn't want to leave! Can't say enough about our experience here. In the the five days we were at Eagle we saw three people, Andy and Craig who checked us in and out and a young boy and his dog on Sapelo Island beach. Everyone should experience, at least once, the opportunity Eagle Island offers to completely hideaway from the busy world and take a step back to a simpler, quieter, peaceful, better time. Thanks Andy. We'll be back!
A great venue for two couples. We really enjoyed having access to the boat and Sapelo Island. We are going back in a few months! The stay was wonderful.
Private Islands of GA seems to have thought of everything when it comes to transportation, food, layout, scenery and things to do. We traveled to Eagle Island for a 30th birthday and took advantage of their kayaks, grills, oyster steamer, fishing rods + bait etc as we all as access to both Sapelo Island and their other properties. Aside from the bugs on the marsh, we had an incredible time and will definitely be back if not to Eagle Island, one of the other properties they provide. I highly suggest taking advantage of their food delivery service from Harris Teeter as it makes your arrival far easier.
