House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This new house (7/2010) has the best view of Canaan Valley/Wildlife Refuge. Don't believe it? Look at the photos below and in the attached Link! The Sun rises every morning over the Continental Divide and Dolly Sods through the expanse of windows of the great room filling the house with a golden light. Looking out through the windows or from the ample deck gives the sensation of flying above the refuge/valley almost 1000 feet below, looking down on the backs of vultures.

The house is located in the Canaan Heights Estates subdivision, approximately one third of a mile down a private road from the nearest neighbor. The property offers views of the ski slopes five minutes away. It is also a mere three miles from the mountain towns of Davis, and just beyond Thomas, halving the driving time between the slopes and the restaurants, bars, shopping, and music. The house is perfectly centered in the middle of the area's attractions yet provides complete privacy.

The yard borders the Wildlife Refuge and Canaan Institute property, providing the nearest access to the popular bike trails on Canaan Institute's land and hunting in the Refuge. Proximity to the refuge virtually guaranties constant surprise appearances of rare or normally elusive wildlife in the form of a passing eagle, the howls of the coyotes deep in the refuge below, the drumming of grouse, or the dawn and evening songs of the hermit thrush, tree frogs, and crickets.

Staying in the house is like geographic therapy, and visitors will be tempted not to leave notwithstanding all the area has to offer.
