We fell in love with the Ozark Mountain/Twin Lakes Region almost two decades ago during a visit to the area. Our career provided the opportunity to live in various locations throughout the world, which helped in our decision to retire in the Ozarks. Small town life along with mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers made this the perfect vacation/retirement location - God's country.

A secluded get-a-way or fishing retreat. River is 30 feet from cabin's deck. Convenient to grocery store, restaurants, gas stations. Quite neighborhood, nothing across the river but a forest.

Every Christmas I give my two girls and their husbands a trip somewhere. They had never fished the White River before, so that was our destination. It was, in a word, perfect. The River Mist has everything anyone could want in a vacation home Well furnished, very clean and lots of room make this the place to go. The owners are wonderful and make sure you have a great time. Be sure and watch for the deer in the pasture across the road and watch on your drive in and out for more deer, turkey, foxes, and eagles. This is a world class spot. Stay here - you will not be disappointed. By the way, my youngest daughter who is 25 caught a 17 pound, 30 inch trout on her second cast while fishing with our guide and I was in the boat to witness it. So cool ! And that fish is swimming back in that river waiting for you to try your luck...

Just like home!

What do germaphobe and neat freak homeowners who also live on the White River do when their house sustains major storm damage? They move into River Mist for two months! Never in our wildest dreams did we ever imagine we could find a place to rent for two months that would even come close to our expectations. Lucky for us, January through early March is the "off" season in this Ozark fishing paradise, and very lucky for us that we discovered River Mist. (Little tip--there's really never an "off" fishing season on the White River!) Now we know why people like to visit our home--because staying at River Mist was like being in the most comfortable, clean, relaxing, gorgeous home you can imagine! It has a HUGE lot so you have loads of privacy, and you just cannot beat what the owners (Jim and Zaidee) have done with this house and yard. There is nothing you need except your clothes and fishing rod. The accommodations are well-appointed and don't mistake our "feeling at home" for being quaint and "homey" because River Mist is a luxury home that makes you pampered while you're enjoying eating your trout that you literally just caught off your private river frontage. Yes, private river frontage. Oh, and you're eating the freshly-caught trout either outside at the fire pit or inside before the fire place.
We truly cannot thank Jim and Zaidee for their generous hospitality in welcoming us and literally allowing us to move in for a couple months. When there was a threat of yet another ice storm, they brought over emergency supplies (i.e. generator) "just in case." I can guarantee you very few vacation rentals treat you like family.
While we hope we never need to "vacation" again for such a long time a mere four miles from our own home, we already have come up with a plan that in the event we decide to indulge in wanderlust again and move to another area, we are planning on renting River Mist in the "off" season every year!
And ladies, trust me when I tell you that virtually all fishing "cabins" and "lodges" around this area are designed for smelly fisherMEN, not fishing ladies, and frankly, they smell like fish. You and your fisherMAN are worth River Mist. I have stayed in many "resorts" in this area for work-related retreats, and believe me when I tell you River Mist is truly a vacation home!
It was truly our pleasure discovering this gem along with its wonderful owners, Jim & Zaidee. God bless them for putting up with us!

This lake house was excellent in every way from the layout, quality of furniture and all the many amenities that were provided. My wife and friends have stayed at many rentals but none better than this one. We caught fish in front of the cabin every day in both low & high water. Also had excellent WiFi & phone booster plus state of the art TV. Close to good food and boat rental & guides.Super place!

We just returned from spending 4 days at RiverMist. We enjoyed every minute! The house was beautiful, and very clean and comfortable. My husband and girls spent hours fly fishing in the back. We appreciated the extra touches like fresh baked cookies, and milk and juice in the fridge. House has all the comforts of home. The kitchen was great for eating in and also enjoyed a couple of meals out...the pizza place up the street was wonderful! I loved reading the guest books! It was exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing get away! Highly recommend!

What a great place to visit. The owner's have really thought of everything you could possibly want in a cabin. Every bed had a wonderful quilt, and the kitchen had all the gadgets you normally either bring from home or do without. They really have paid attention to detail. It was spotless and organized, and they let us bring our dogs. They have two wonderful decks. I would never have thought of two, but seeing them, I just don't know how you could do without either one. Afternoons on the lower deck were perfect, and the view from the sunroom was spectacular. The owner's were even thoughful enough to provide some food items in case you arrived late. How nice is that!!!! This was the most pleasurable and cleanest vrbo experience we've had. We certainly plan to return.

This area of the White River, below Bull Shoals Dam, is internationally known for premier trout fishing. Fly fishing is extremely popular - fisherman can fish from the bank, or wade during low water periods. Many anglers’ fish from a flat-bottom 16-20 foot johnboat equipped with a 10-20 hp motor. BYOB - you can bring your own boat or rent a boat/guide locally - Debbie at the Cotter Trout Dock will give discount for our guests). The Game and Fish Commission stocks hundreds of thousands of trout in the White annually and anglers come here from all corners of the globe. Great lake fishing on Bull Shoals Lake or Lake Norfork. Big Creek Golf & Country Club, Twin Lakes Golf Course, and River Cliff Golf Course are all a short drive from the cabin. Branson is just 1½ hours from the cabin.
