|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This fisherman’s cabin is a perfect getaway. Watch the morning river mist dissipate over a cup of coffee on the upper deck as the sun comes up and warms the land. Bring the day to a close with your favorite beverage in hand seated on a bench at the river’s edge (only 30 feet from the deck).
River fishing -- This area of the White River, below Bull Shoals Dam, is internationally known for premier trout fishing. Fly fishing is extremely popular and fisherman can fish from the bank, or wade during low water periods. Many anglers’ fish from a flat-bottom 16-20 foot johnboat equipped with a 10-20 hp motor. BYOB - you can bring your own boat or rent a boat/guide locally (Debbie at Cotter Trout Dock will give discount). The Game and Fish Commission stocks hundreds of thousands of rainbows in the White annually and anglers come here from all corners of the globe to catch them.
Golfers – Big Creek Golf & Country Club, Twin Lakes Golf Course, and River Cliff Golf Course are all a short drive from the cabin.
Fun for the entire family – Branson is just 1½ hours from the cabin. You will fine shows, Ziplining, Silver Dollar City, Branson Landing, and other attractions. Historic Eureka Springs is 88 mi/2 hours away. Canoeing or kayaking on any of the many rivers in the area, ample trails for hiking, caves for spelunking, and a plethora of antique shops.
The home features two master bedrooms with queen-size beds and bathrooms. A third bathroom is shared by two more bedrooms; with queen and bunk bed respectively. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and basic spices. Kitchen has all the standard items: oven, refreg. with prolific ice-maker, microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot with starter coffee, sugar, creamer, and filters, etc. Grill your favorite food on the gas grill or, if you don't feel like cooking, there are several restaurants in nearby Gassville & Cotter. Linens and towels provided. Flat screen TV w/ HD satellite service (movie channels), along with DVR & Blue Ray DVD player is provided (loaded with movies), also some DVD movies on-hand. There is a cell phone booster because of steep river banks. Cabin phone can receive all calls, but make local calls only.. The WI-FI internet allows cruising the net from the decks or anywhere in the cabin as well as on both decks and by river's edge. Also listed on Home Away-look for listing number 330194. This area of river is private-no full-time residents on this road and nothing but cliffs and trees across the river - very quiet.
River Mist fishing update ---
We want there to be no surprises for returning guests and let first time guests know what to expect. So here is a little update on the fishing at our little rental cabin on the White River called: “River Mist”.
There seems to be an infestation of weeds on the "lee" sides up and down the river.
From a fisherman's point of view the grass and moss behind River Mist is wonderful, as it has lots of scuds that the trout feed on, therefore, contributing greatly to the awesome fishing. It may be bothersome for floaters or swimmers (only the young and foolish can swim in that cold trout stream), but to fishermen it is a blessing. Waders often catch their limit casting along the edge of the weeds.
BUT - when the river is low (running on 0 to 2 generators), the weeds are what my wife calls – ugly. It also makes fishing from the bank difficult.
Location: In the Ozark Mountains of Northern Arkansas, between Mountain Home & Harrison. N 36 degrees 15’ 26”; W 092 degrees 29’ 9”
Payments – Because of internet scams never use instant money transfer services such as Western Union and MoneyGram. We, at River Mist, only take personal checks. This safeguards you in that you can stop payment on a check and scamers will not use them because it leaves a track right to them thru their bank when cashed; it safeguards us in that we have time to make sure the check is good before your arrival.
Watch for Scammers – if you are ever in doubt before making a payment, call us (the owners) at the number listed in this website (hm: 870-453-5356, or cell: 870-404-7597). We live in Flippin, AR, so if someone wants you to wire money to Ireland or Kentucky (two recent scamers) then it’s not us. We deal in personal checks - scammers don't.
Professionally managed by a local husband/wife team that try hard to make each stay a memorable experience worth repeating. We pride ourselves in providing a clean, well stocked cabin.

We fell in love with the Ozark Mountain/Twin Lakes Region while visiting a couple decades ago. Our career provided the opportunity to live in various locations throughout the world, which helped in our decision to retire in the Ozarks. Small town life along with mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers made this the perfect vacation/retirement location;this is truly God's country.
River is 30 feet from cabin's deck. Convenient to grocery store, restaurants, gas stations. Quite neighborhood, nothing across the river but a forest. Eagles (nest down stream) like to fish river at cabin site - have had as many as 5 at once.
This was our third trip to River Mist and we are already looking forward to going back. The house is very well appointed and spacious. The open concept living area / kitchen is perfect for family gatherings. The river was higher than usual this trip, so our fishing guides were able to pick us up at the boat ramp on River Mist property! Valet trout fishing! Thank you Jim and Zaidee for your attention to detail! Thank you for the delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies, milk, orange juice, etc. awaiting us on our arrival Friday afternoon! We will be back!
My husband and I have traveled all over the world and this was one of the most comfortable, beautiful, coziest places imaginable. The cabin is extremely spacious overlooking a beautiful river with gorgeous deer running wild and yet within five driving minutes of a Sonic (sad but a family requirement.) The cabin easily accommodated two large families and was filled with thoughtful, practical, critical items, i.e. travel sized shampoo, conditioner, lotion, laundry detergent, popcorn and other treats, etc. The décor is adorable and would make a nice magazine spread. I can't wait to go back!!!!! I don't know the policy re: pets (so I can't comment on recommendations for pet owners) but as for sight-seeing, we drove into Branson several times and visited a nearby State park for some rock climbing. The fireplace by the big screen didn't hurt matters, either. This truly was our ideal vacation.
Wow! It's almost unbelievable that a place like this really still exists! Our group consisted of our grown children and a grandbaby and my husband and I spending three days relaxing and fly fishing the White River. We wanted a place to slow down and enjoy one another's company without always having to rush, rush, rush. River Mist fit the bill perfectly! From the moment I began to correspond with Jimmy and Zaidee, I knew that this place was head and shoulders above others. Upon arrival, we were absolutely blown away by the gorgeous house and setting and the very thoughtful touches throughout the entire place. Although it was pretty cold outside and did rain two of the three days (which kept most of us inside) the homemade chocolate chip cookies, board games, fireplace, exquisite views- eagles included, and comfortable home made it a perfectly pleasurable experience. Now to just go about "River Misting" my home so that it feels as warm, comfortable, and inviting as yours is. Thank you so much for providing a place where we could make memories to last forever. I am quite sure that we will return to River Mist.
My family stayed at River Mist the week of Christmas and we had a great time. When we arrived we were greeted with homemade cookies and a starter stash of groceries, which kept us from having to run to the store that evening.
The house is so nice, was decorated festively for Christmas and it was spotlessly clean.
It slept 6 of us very comfortably. It was nice to have the fireplace on those chilly evenings too.
It was wonderful for my fly-fishing husband to be right on the river. He fished all but one day and caught a total of about 50 fish. He released all but 10, which we will be smoking next week.

It may be bothersome for swimmers or floaters, but to fishermen it is a blessing. For this reason, we hope you will leave it just as it is.
We must have seen close to 100 deer during our stay, they were everywhere. One morning they were right in our yard, drinking at the river. We saw the eagles a couple of times on the river also.
We needed to get away from it all and this was the perfect place. We had a wonderful week and are planning to return ASAP.
Thank you again Jimmy and Zaidee for your hospitality, your kindness and being so easy to work with. We hope to be back in the very near future.
P.S. I will e-mail you the pic Jed took of your deck.
Our Family always meets at the White River for Christmas. This if the first time at River Mist, but it will not be the last. The house accommodated 6 people very comfortably.
It was so inviting from the homemade chocolate chips cookies to the lovely Christmas decoration. It has a fire pit that is just right for roasting marshmallows. The weather was great so we sit out on the decks and watch eagles soar across the river.(what a treat)
We would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy the
wonders of nature.
We will be going back. Hopefully sooner that Christmas.
Again we had a wonderful time at River Mist. The house is beautiful and the owners go out of their way to make it comfortable. Reasonably priced. We will certainly continue to visit
their. We can't wait to come back!! It was our 3rd time staying at the house.
