ALL SEASON HOUSE IN THE WOODS, WALK TO TORCH LAKE, SKI SHANTY

Kewadin House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Your vacation begins as you turn on Maple Lane off Bellaire Highway. This 1600 square foot house sits on 1.5 wooded acres on a private road that has only four houses. It is quiet and very private. The heated garage is located on the first floor of the house. The separate barn is perfect to store a boat, kayaks, snowmobiles or another car. You can join your friends on the large separate tree house deck to watch the sunset while sipping on cocktails, or the tree house can become a secret hideaway for your children. The house is ~1/4 mile from the nearest public access to Torch Lake at the west end of Bellaire Hwy, walking either on the road, or through the woods.

GREAT ROOM:

The most remarkable feature of this home is the granite fireplace in the great room. It soars to the ceiling and is flanked by tall windows on both sides. The whole room is bright in daytime and has surround lighting for the evening. There is a dining area next to the bay window in the great room.

KITCHEN:

The kitchen is large and contains everything you need to cook, with a kitchenette table that overlooks the deck and is a perfect place to watch the birds. It even has two ovens! The floor is brand new.

MASTER BEDROOM:

The master suite is on the upper floor. It has an antique brass queen size bed and windows that over look the front of the property. The bathroom has a shower and tub and plenty of storage. The front of the bedroom opens up onto the loft, which overlooks the great room.

GUEST BEDROOMS:

The two guest bedrooms are mirror images of each other and are located on the great room level. They each have a separate bath and share a shower and tub. Each room has built in bookshelves and plenty of storage in the closets.

WILDLIFE:

At the birdfeeders you will see all types of woodland birds, including pileated woodpeckers. Deer, fox, and wild turkey are frequent visitors to our land.

Vin still works as a consulting physicist and Deb is a retired teacher. We bought this house because we like boating, skiing, biking, and kayaking. We used and loved this house winter and summer for eight years. We like this location so well that we have bought a larger house nearby, so we're willing to rent this one.

The Owner purchased this house in 2002

This house is within easy boat trailing distance to Torch Lake, Clam Lake, Lake Bellaire, and Intermediate Lake, and we have boated and fished on all these lakes. We have loved cross country skiing in the woods out our door, and at Grass River Natural Area a short drive away. There is a site to watch loons about one mile away. The Brownwood Flea market is 7 miles away every Sunday morning. The Farmer's Market in Bellaire is every Friday morning (along with the incredible Senior's Garage Sale).

What a fantastic place!

  • 5 of 5
Our family thoroughly enjoyed 5 nights between Christmas and New Year's at Deb and Vin's wonderful place! Everything was perfect! The house and property are just gorgeous, and everything we wanted and expected. We traveled the short distance to Schuss Mountain at Shanty Creek Resort each day for skiing/snowboarding, and easily made the trip back for lunch. The fully equipped kitchen made meals a breeze (for 5 hungry adults!), and the puzzles were a great touch!

We enjoyed the gorgeous stone fireplace (when we weren't too tired for it!), the bedrooms were comfortable and roomy, and everything was spotlessly clean. The mudroom/laundry area was great for coming in from the snow, and the heated garage is a great touch for loading the car in sub-20 degree weather!

We will absolutely return, and highly recommend the "All Season House in the Woods" for anyone traveling to the Bellaire/Torch Lake area.

Great experience!

  • 5 of 5
We ended up renting this place by pure chance. There were no available rooms in any hotels close to Traverse City for this particular weekend and my husband suggested we look for a private rental. We were very lucky to find this house! The place is beautiful, spacious, very clean and well equipped. I was also happy to find out the owners had no problem with my dog staying with us (white carpet throughout house). Thankfully she is housetrained and behaved herself. I don't think we could have found better value elsewhere, and we still had a spare bedroom. The owners are both very nice and since they live so close arranging payment was super easy. Would definitely rent this place again.

Enjoyable family home close to slopes

  • 5 of 5
Family with teens and dogs enjoyed 4 night stay. Close drive to Schuss Mountain. Nice comfortable layout, nicely stocked rental house. Bedroom layout (master upstairs, 2 downstairs) and multiple bathrooms (downstairs had 1 off each bedroom with shared shower) was perfect for our large group. Property convenient to town/slopes yet on nice secluded wooded lot for playing with dogs. House was clean and personable (had a decorated tree up for holidays :-)). Large dining table in main living room (not pictured) Loved having use of heated garage. Owners were very friendly. Very good value for size and location. Wireless access was hit or miss depending on the device and location in the house.
Only negative was we couldn't figure out the thermastat - we were either too cold in living area or too hot in bedrooms - it was really windy and large windows could have been major factor?
We vacation in area every winter and would stay here again.
We skied at Schuss 2 days and ate there but had TERRIBLE service in restaurant. Didn't like Shorts Brewery - self service and limited menu. Enjoyed Alden Bar & Grill for great friendly service.

Great get away!! Home away from home.

  • 5 of 5
We've been up to the all seasons house in the woods twice. Once in the spring, and again in the fall. We are looking forward to a second fall trip. The house is very comfortable. Feels like home away from home. The area is beautiful. It is such a relaxing place to be. The photos show a true description of the house. It is very clean and well maintained. Vin & Deb are both great to rent from. There if you need them. Very sweet couple. It's a nice little walk to Torch Lake to watch the sunset. Short's Brewery is a great place to get a local brew and yummy sandwich. Pearl's is a bit of a drive; but worth it for cajun food. All in all, it's a delightful place to cozy into and relax.

Great rental house!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I, son and daughter-in-law, and our 13 month old grandbaby, stayed at this house early August. We were attending a family wedding in Traverse City and have in-laws who live on Torch Lake; within walking distance.

The house is spacious, private, quiet, well-equipped and clean. The outside deck with the trees and treehouse is very pleasant. The owners couldn't be nicer or more helpful. We would definitely rent this house again.

Torch Lake is a beautiful, clear lake and was quite warm this year. Because of the wedding we didn't have time for many outside activities but did get a chance to go for burgers at the Dock Side which is always a good time.

All Season Fun and Stress Buster

  • 5 of 5
I have vacationed at this property in every season. I find it difficult to name my favorite time of year to visit. At first I thought that summer couldn't be topped. The lush forest, exploring the quaint local towns and art galleries, the indescribable Caribbean blues of nearby Torch Lake, and evening cocktail hours laughing with friends enjoying the sunset from our perch in the treehouse seemed hard to beat.

But then I stayed in the Fall. We only needed to walk across the road to lose ourselves in the vibrant colors and earthy scents of Autumn. The striking rows of towering pines, stands of birch trees, dense thickets contrasted by open meadows provided an amazing hiking experience. At the end of the day we stoked up a fire in the 2 story stone fireplace with windows overlooking the tree line dropping off to Torch Lake.

Just recently I visited in the Winter. Bring your snowshoes and cross country skis because the snow covered woods offer a peace, beauty and serenity that are hard to describe. We followed deer paths that lead to their sleeping beds under the sheltering evergreens. Snowshoes helped us traverse hills and terrain off the beaten path. When there is fresh snow, cross country ski these same woodland paths and hills which offer an exhilarating outing for both beginners and experienced skiers.

The home is immaculately clean and you will find it well appointed. The owners are anxious to please and their love of this vacation hide-away is apparent and understandable. With the slopes of Shanty Creek around the corner, lakes and rivers offering kayaking and fishing, hiking across the street and with all the local events and festivals within striking distance, it is one of our favorite vacation spots.
