The place was clean, furnished nicely, and had an awesome view (we could see the New Year's Eve fireworks across the water at Paradise Island from our bed!). The chairs at the pools were already sometimes but the unit has a couple portable beach chairs which worked great. There were 2 nice coolers and 2 big bags for beach towels and snacks which we used several times. There are 3 nice restaurants within walking distance, but no sidewalks so you do have to be careful. The kitchen is small, but not a problem. Everything worked well in the unit except the buzzer to the door (unless we just didn't know how to use it). With only one set of keys it was sometimes a problem getting in if the group split up. I noticed several other units have groceries delivered from "Groceries to Go" so no need to rent a car, but there are 2 nice grocery stores not far away if you do have a car. We rented a car as we went places the bus doesn't go, but very handy for going downtown. I appreciated Shelly calling us as soon as we got there to make sure everything was OK. We would have no problem staying there again!
Just recently returned (physically - not mentally) from a two week stay in "Dancing Waves." This was our second stay in this particular unit but our 10th+ stay at Delaporte in Nassau. For future stays, we will ALWAYS check on the availability of "Dancing Waves" as our first choice for several reasons. The owner is VERY guest-centered and always either anticipates every need or immediately responds in a positive way to requests. The unit is fully furnished and stocked so that you really only need to bring a smile from home - and if you forget to do that, it will appear the minute you walk into the fourth floor unit and see the sweeping views stretching from Cable Beach to downtown to Atlantis in the distance as you look east and the open ocean and approaching (or departing) cruise ships to the north and west. The location is enough to keep you grounded with the likely purpose of your visit - pure relaxation and comfort. No need to leave the property, but if you choose to do so, it is very convenient to take the island "jitney" from directly out front of the complex to go downtown or elsewhere. As far as snorkeling goes, it is spectacular - the sea gardens that are within a few feet of the actual point are teaming with fish and other sea life. All in all, a stay here provides the full package that will not disappoint. I only hope that "Dancing Waves" is open the next time I try to book it for our family!
The location is wonderful--very strong breeze off balcony makes you always feel cool and comfortable--sometimes even a bit chilly! It is maybe 15 minutes from downtown and is very peaceful. I would not really say it is within walking distance to much--sidewalks don't really exist for much of the way and it is a busy road but the bus is very easy to use ($1.25 pp). The bus stops about 7-7:30 PM so if you are into partying you may want to rent a car or be prepared for taxis. We liked being able to go into town, have our fun and excursions, and then come back to a tranquil setting. The condo is very comfortable and nicely equipped--perfect for our family. Shelly is wonderful. We had some questions during our stay and extra requests and she could not have been nicer.
My husband and I chose this condo because we wanted a water view as we were travelling with our 18 month old and we needed someplace to hang out at night when he went to bed. First communications were great with Shonel and payment and booking were quite easy. She answered all my questions and we arranged for a highchair and pack n play to be available for our stay. When it came down to the week before arrival however I sent her two emails and called and didn't get a reply, I was slightly concerned since we were travelling with a toddler to a foreign country. She had sent us plenty of information on how to get access to the condo so we luckily had no trouble upon arrival, but I was slightly put off.
Now for the cons:
We arrived at the condo and I was a little dissapointed with the place, there is some updating that needs to be done. There were puddles on the floor from the AC unit which were worrisome since we had a toddler who could slip. The floors were definitely dirty, our feet were black after 10 minutes. The ants were slow to come but once we got into all that island fruit they came quickly (on the 4th floor might I add). We didn't even cook there, just did sandwiches etc. and there were plenty of ants. Luckily that kind of thing isn't too bothersome to us, however we did take the trash out frequently. The balcony was great but the mosquitoes and biting insects were plentiful. The AC stopped working overnight one night. The toilet water was turned off and when we flushed nothing happened but we figured that one out!
The AC issue was fixed the next day and we didn't suffer too much as a great wind had come in from the water. We had an internet issue (probably our issue but they sent someone to check it out). We loved hearing the waves at night. Parking was great and so was security. They left us fruit and a parting gift! We loved the location since we didn't want to be near the busy city but we were able to go there and get back quickly. The pool near the seagrape trees was WONDERFUL! Also the dock nearby that you could climb down and snorkel was too cool! It was hard for me to leave. The people we met were wonderful and welcoming and we absolutely felt at home on the island, in fact a few people asked us if we were locals!
All in all we would recommend the Delaporte Point community for sure, this condo was well appointed and we enjoyed our stay but there is definitely room for improvement in this unit.
My girlfriends and I had such a great time staying at Dancing Waves. There were 4 of us and the place was the perfect size. 2 good sized bedrooms, a nice living/dining area, and a decent kitchen (although the kitchen is a little small to have multiple people cooking). The best thing about the place is Shelly! She is awesome and so helpful. We would definitely stay here again. Really the only downside was how windy it can get! The balcony has a gorgeous view but because it's facing north and out on a peninsula, some of the nights were way too windy to be able to sit outside. But, on the nights that it wasn't windy, it was perfect. The location is convenient in that there is a bus stop right out the front gate. We would walk out there and catch the bus into town, or head west to visit the caves. Great time!!!
A wonderful location away from most tourists. The view could not be beat! We had a rental car, it would have been hard to stay here without it. The accommodations were OK. For the price of a hotel room we had a two bedroom/two bathroom condo. We felt secure since it was a gated development. Nassau overall is very expensive. $8 for a bag of Doritos in the grocery store.
There was a tropical storm somewhere in the Atlantic so it was very windy and wavy. Dancing waves is a good name. Over all we enjoyed our stay very much!
Dancing Waves is a charming get-away at Delaporte Point, just outside of Cable Beach in beautiful Nassau, Bahamas. Located on a penisula with the ocean on three sides, Dancing Waves has clear ocean views to the Atlantis Resort, Black Beard's Cay, and the Cable Beach shoreline. These expansive ocean vistas will take your breath away. The beach is just a few minutes walk away. Delaporte Point is located on the jitney line and the jitneys will take you to the Cable Beach hotels, and to downtown where you can shop or take the ferry to Paradise Island. Restaurants and grocery stores are all nearby.
