Overview

Victoria Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Large 850 sq ft suite in historical home-walk to town and ocean, pet friendly

Step back in time and enjoy our 1907 brick home set atop a breathtaking rock garden with views of downtown Victoria, the Outer Harbour and the Olympic mountains. This historical home has been lovingly renovated into three distinct suites with separate entrances and garden patios for a cottage feel. Each suite is fully-equipped with modern amenities such as a dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, WIFI and TV with cable.

This suite (#1) is a very spacious one bedroom suite with approx. 850 sq feet. There are 1 1/2 bathrooms, a full-sized living room and formal dining area. It was built from the main section of the house and features high ceilings, pillars, stained glass and hardwood floors.

The suite is fully furnished and has a queen sized bed and a pull-out couch in the living room. Suitable for short-term or long-term stays.

Sit outside and enjoy the temperate climate in a garden patio or on a wrap-around covered veranda featuring a propane BBQ. You can smell the ocean in the air.

Your well-behaved and non-aggressive pet is welcome here--each suite has a fenced-in area and a doggie door.

The home is located in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of downtown (20 min walk), everyday shopping needs (5 min walk), and a scenic oceanside walkway (10 min walk) that travels around the inner harbour. If you like cycling, we are a 5 min ride to the Galloping Goose Trail. If you don't feel like walking, a cab ($10 CDN) can get you most downtown tourist attractions. Or catch the harbour ferry (10 min walk to the closest stop).

Send an inquiry if you have questions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Note: This listing (and calendar) is for Suite #1, which is a stunning 1 bedroom with wrap-around veranda and all the charm of this 1907 Edwardian home. If you would like to view the other suites or check their availability, please see listing # 612221 (for the other 1 bedroom) or listing #612335 (for the 2 bedroom +den).

About Patricia Hergt

I am a retired registered nurse my husband, born in Germany still runs his Music studio and store. We are long term residents of Victoria, (my mother was born one block from our house). We have been married 40 years. We enjoy the wonderful amenities Victoria has to offer on a regular basis. We truly love animals and welcome your pets. We have a one legged Seagull we have named Heathcliff which we nursed back to health after finding him near death on the beach down the road. He is has adopted us and spends a lot of time perched on our roof or sitting on the rock to sun himself.

Patricia Hergt purchased this apartment in 2000

Why Patricia Hergt chose Victoria

I fell in love with this house the minute I saw it. It is a rare 1907 brick house on a hillcrest with perfect proximity to downtown Victoria, transportation and walks. I have worked to return this home to its glory for the last 13 years and am so proud to share its restored charm with guests.

What makes this apartment unique

We are active users of vacation rentals throughout the world as well. We like to provide the same care and attention to your stay as we have appreciated when we travel.

Wonderful Historic Home

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay in for our week in Victoria. I loved all the old furniture and especially the books! (Sear's catalouge from 1890's I beleive). Pat and Karl were both very lovely and caring people. The only thing that I wish was different was that I found the suite not very clean, the floors were covered in dust bunnies, the counter had a skiff of crumbs and the bath had some hair in it. It was not a big deal at all but it would have been nice if it was a little cleaner when we arrived. Perhaps a small vacuum would be an asset so guests could do a quick clean so the dust is not able to collect as much. I definitely recommend staying at this humble abode!!

Great home in Victoria

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to call home for our month in Victoria. Tucked away in the great neighbourhood of Vic West, it is minutes away by foot from virtually everything we needed - an awesome brewpub, spectacular bakery, grocery store, coffee shops - the list goes on and on. We biked, kayaked and hiked to our heart's content, returning to a very comfortable place to rest our heads. From the spacious deck we had great views of both the city and the mountains. Any questions or concerns were attended to promptly, and we were made to feel like most welcome guests.

Wonderful residence, location and hosts.

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful 2 week vacation!! We were so comfortable and felt at home immediately knowing our host and hostess were caring and thoughtful in every way. It was a great getaway from our long Rockies winter. Even the cherry blossoms and flowers were beginning to bloom everywhere we walked. Downtown Victoria was only a 15 minute stroll from the front door. Our small dog was even at home on the veranda via doggie door. He loved seeing the squirrels, seagulls and birds lovingly cared for by our host. We'll return whenever possible!

Great location, excellent hosts, wonderful experience.

  • 5 of 5

My husband, three dogs and I travel regularly and always check VRBO first. I can only echo previous guests comments about Pat and Karl. When my husband had an accident early on, both Pat and Karl were fabulous in making the best of an unfortunate situation. They even provided a hospital bed to make his stay that much more comfortable. Pat, a retired nurse, checked his blood pressure daily. Karl dropped off the daily paper and other reading material. The dogs were comfortable and so were we with peace of mind of the gated and roomy yard. highly recommended for any travelers - particularly pet owners.

Absolutely Wonderful Property and the most Amazing Owners! (Summer of 2013)

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 3 shiba fur babies and I had booked this Heritage Home for a two month stay in the summer while I was finishing grad school. Last minute, hubby could not join me and I was on my own with my 3 dogs. I was so nervous bc my dogs are escape artists and need a well gated yard. Not only did the owners, Pat and Karl go out of their way to extend the height of their fence, but they knew I was so upset about being alone, that they checked on me regularly to ensure I always felt safe, secure, and happy. They made my stay stress and worry free. I could focus on my studies in such a peaceful environment. Pat and Karl are salt of the earth kind of people, they ensure the utmost best and genuinely care about the well being of their guests. Not to mention the property is absolutely stunning!

Great location, large and comfortable space

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Christmas day... Pat and Karl should have been celebrating but they made time to welcome us with a card and groceries! And a Christmas tree complete with lights and ornaments. Karl let us borrow a book on walking trails in the area. It's in a great location. They were helpful, communicated clearly and as needed and the house was wonderfully decorated with holiday cheer.

Kitchen is fully stocked. Living room has a tv with plenty of channels (although you should be outside exploring). Bed was comfortable and the bathroom has a large tub with plenty of towels.

My only complaint is that the other unit decided it was necessary to use the kitchen around midnight the first evening. Their kitchen backs to the bedroom.
