CHARMING, PRIVATE LOG CABIN WITH BEAUTIFUL LAYERED LONGE-RANGE VIEWS

Banner Elk Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, sleeps 7, ***Wireless Internet Available***

Relax in the peaceful mountain surroundings of this 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom log cabin. Wake up to the crisp mountain air and swing on the porch overlooking beautiful long range mountain views. Take a stroll through the 3.75 wooded acres up to the neighboring pasture to see the cows and horses. Enjoy an evening of grilling out on the back deck or take the scenic country drive down to Banner Elk for a nice evening out.

There are many activities in close proximity to the house. The Watauga River has three nearby access points to go fishing, tubing, or picnicking. Nearby Valle Crucis has a large park with lots of weekend events, and another river access point. Boone, Banner Elk, Watauga Lake (Tennessee), Beech Mountain Ski Resort, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, a winery, a blueberry patch, and much more are within a short drive.

The 3 bedrooms all have their own bathrooms - 2 bedrooms on the main floor, one in the basement. Plenty of room for multiple families to spread out.

About the Owners: The Greiner Family purchased this wonderful property in 2010, to be able to come to the mountains more often and enjoy the cool, refreshing mountain air and scenic views with our children. We get to spend quality time as a family roaming the mountains, to escape the hectic life of school and work at home!

Imagine How: We also strive to support research to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy, as our second son Matthew (age 4) has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a degenerative, fatal muscular disorder that currently has no cure and not many options to even help mitigate the effects.

Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (www.parentprojectmd.org) is one group that is dedicated to providing funding for muscular dystrophy research, and has helped us run several fundraisers. As parents we can only hope and pray that a cure is found for all these young boys.

Please help support our cause by renting our cabin. A portion of the income generated will go to support muscular dystrophy research. See Matthew's website: www.ImagineHow.org for more information or if you are interested in supporting directly.

Everything we could ask for

We arrive one day early, thanks to a very helpful owner. Directions were right-on. Just plug in your GPS and relax. Do not try to attempt the hill without 4-wheel drive in the winter months. We are originally from the frozen north, but have lived in the south of many years. Our hope was to see snow, so Mother Nature heard our thoughts and provided us with 3 inches on our first morning.
The cabin was more than comfortable. Great view from the back deck. Kitchen was very well equipped. Comfortable beds, cool gas fireplace.
We will be back.

Excellent cottage to get away from it all. You may need 4-wheel drive to get there (in the winter anyway). Very secluded and great mountain views. our family was hiking and sight-seeing most of the time so we really only drank coffee and ate dinner and slept there for the extended weekend. Everything seemed to be updated in the bathrooms.

The kitchen is stocked with plates (even toddler plates/plastic ware!), bowels, side plates, silverware, glasses cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc... Deck is great, Gas grill was very useful. We didn't use the fire pit or table games in the garage.

Having the internet is a great touch. TV had plenty of channels to choose from (Dish Network). The cabin seemed very well insulated. I didn't feel any drafts and the temperature seemed to be consistent without the HVAC turning on much at all. The cabin was fairly clean when we arrived (dust bunnies under the couch and chairs, but the cabin IS pet friendly after all).

Two things we would change:
1. Shower heads (upstairs) consistently fell off of the base. I has to hold it almost the entire time. (Not much of a complaint huh?)
2. Area rug in front of the TV smelled real bad. I have a sensitive nose and couldn't sit on the couch too long. It was quite overbearing. This did make us spend a lot of time on the desk listening to the sounds of the woods and breathing clean mountain air :-).

We would stay there again and recommend it to a friend. A previous reviewer mentioned that it is far away from things. They are right. I would recommend hitting the grocery store on the way in!

Thank you very much for letting us stay at your beautiful cabin!

Mountain Therapy

I rented this cabin along with two other families for homecoming weekend at Lees-McRae College. We all have small children and they had a blast! I booked because it is pet friendly, however I ended up leaving my dog in FL, but he would have loved it too! Our only complaint really was the distance from campus. It's only 9 miles but in mountain talk its about 35 mins! The house is definitely up at the top of the mountain, if you want seclusion and a fantastic view, this is perfect! Thankfully it didn't rain or snow, or my Camry would not have made it on those dirt roads. House is fully equipped with everything you would need to make your stay nice and comfortable! I highly recommend it!
