Nestled in a canopy of Monterey oaks and pines, Dove Cottage provides a tranquil environment ideally located in the heart of Carmel-By-The-Sea. The craftsman cottage was built in 1931 as Carmel was becoming a popular destination for artists and writers from San Francisco, who spent their summers here. Upon entering you will be welcomed with a sophisticated but relaxed European ambiance. This is my second home, which is reflected in the fine furniture, French antiques and quality design throughout. Located within the desirable 'golden rectangle', it's only a short walk to shops, restaurants, art galleries and Carmel's silky white, sandy beaches.

As a designer I renovated Dove Cottage to offer all the modern amenities, while retaining the integrity of this historic artist's cottage which was built in 1931. At that time Carmel-By-The-Sea was frequented by writers and painters from San Francisco who spent their summers here. Dove Cottage is my second home and it retains a wonderful 'spirit of place'. I welcome you to my home and hope that your stay in Carmel is memorable.
Fantastic place. This cottage is designer decorated and has all amenities one could want.. Clean, comfortable and in a great little beach community. If you are looking for cheap stay elsewhere, if you are looking for perfect this is the place.
I stayed at Dove Cottage with my Mother and 2 year old for a week, and it couldn't have been a better experience! The house is very easy to find and a short walk to shops, eateries and the beach. The beds are comfortable & the kitchen has exactly what you might need. Amy was very helpful before we arrived and gave us great tips on activities and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again! Because we had such a wonderful experience, we are now checking out Amy's other properties! Thank you Amy!
amy was a delight to work with from start to finish. This property comes as advertised and is even more charming in person. It's proximity to dining, the beach, area attractions (17-mile drive, Carmel Valley, the Mission) was ideal. It is a short walk to numerous dining and shopping options and allowed us to take in the sunset on Carmel Beach each of our 3 nights. It was a storybook getaway for my wife and I and we are so thankful to Amy for making this cottage available to others. If I owned this perfect little haven I'm not so sure I'd be as willing to share. If you are considering this cottage, do yourself a favor and stop procrastinating!
We recently stayed on your cottage. We immediately fell in love with its charm. You updated and decorated the cottage so wonderfully. We felt so protected with the enclosed front patio. Loved the deck in the back. We were visited by 3 raccoons who were looking for the nuts on the deck at night. We will definitely recommend this cottage to our friends and relatives. Hope to go back soon. Amy recommended Dametres restaurant and we loved the food, the ambience and the owner was delightful with his music and song. We had a great time.
My group of five adults stayed at Dove Cottage whilst visiting the Big Sur coastline recently. The cottage was comfortable and charming. All participants commented favourably on the cottage and surrounds. We especially enjoyed the large deck outside and cosy places inside. The cottage was clean and the equipment and facilities were adequate. The owner provided good customer service throughout.
We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and my birthday at this lovely cottage. Everything was just as pictured. The cottage was cozy, clean, comfortable...everything we wanted and expected. Carmel is a delightful town to visit! There's so much to see in town and nearby. We went on day trips to Big Sur, Monterey, Pacific Grove, 17-Mile Drive, Point Lobos State Park, and Carmel Mission. And we had plenty of time for relaxing and enjoying the cottage. Some of our favorite restaurants in Carmel were Katy's Place (best breakfast!), Casanova's, and Yafa's. I would highly recommend a vacation to Carmel and a stay at Dove Cottage.
In addition to the quaint village charm of the shops, restaurants, art galleries and beaches, which are only a short walk from Dove Cottage, you can enjoy scenic drives and choose from the12 golf courses in the area. Experience the spectacular coastline of Big Sur, take a winery tour in Carmel Valley and visit Monterey, as they are all close by. Throughout the year Carmel hosts golf tournaments, jazz and other festivals, live theater and many interesting events.
