Welcome to Island Escape, our family's spacious, canal-front home with an amazing view of Estero Bay. Our home is on a quiet cul-de-sac in a well-kept, mid-island neighborhood just five minutes (by foot) from the sugar-soft sands of Fort Myers Beach.
At Island Escape, you can enjoy all the comforts of home - along with a private, heated pool - for less than the price of a hotel room. Three bedrooms plus a queen-sized sleeper sofa offer comfortable sleeping for up to 8. You'll also appreciate the huge living room, cozy alcove, fully-equipped kitchen, formal dining room, two full baths (one with a Jacuzzi tub) and fully enclosed lanai*.
*Please note that the living spaces are on the upper level of our two-story home and are accessible only by stairs. The pool and patio are NOT enclosed and may not be suitable for young children. At least one person in your party must be at least 35. Local regulations prohibit renting our home for less than one full week.
Master bedroom: King bed with Tommy Bahamas linens, walk-in closet, ceiling fan, and TV with DVD and digital cable.
Aqua bedroom: King bed, ceiling fan, huge closets and a TV with VHS/DVD and digital cable.
Palm bedroom: Two twin beds (which can be joined to create a king-sized bed), ceiling fan, large closet, TV with DVD, digital cable, and PS 2 game system for the kids.
Master bath: Double sinks, shower, and an unbelievable amount of storage space.
Main bath: Recently remodeled with Jacuzzi tub and plenty of elbow room.
Living room: Huge leather sectional, easy chairs, large-screen TV with digital cable and DVD player. Family-friendly DVDs VHS tapes.
Alcove: Queen-sized sofa sleeper with 4-inch mattress, love seat, easy chair, desk. Family-friendly games and books galore.
Kitchen: Fully equipped with stove, oven, microwave, fridge, small appliances, tableware, cookware and even cookbooks and recipes. Plus menus from some of our favorite restaurants...you are on vacation, after all.
Dining room: Adjoins the lanai and living room, and overlooks the pool, patio, canal and bay. Comfortable seating for 8+.
Lanai: Floor-to-ceiling glass with ceiling fan and fantastic view of pool, patio, canal and bay. Rattan table & chairs with seating for 4.
Outside (lower level): Large, heated, private pool with graduated depths of 3 to 9 feet. Patio is partially covered and great for relaxing or entertaining with lounge chairs, poolside bar that seats 8, and Jenn-Air gas grill. Patio is open to canal where you can fish for your own dinner or watch for dolphins and manatees. Basketball hoop in front yard.
Balcony (upper level): Bar-sized patio set seats 4 with an amazing view of Estero bay, as well as the pool, patio and canal. Watch osprey and other sea birds flying overhead, as well as dolphins playing in the bay.
All linens, bath towels, and beach towels are provided, with a washer and dryer on the pool level for your convenience. We also have two adult and one child-size bike, two hair dryers, laundry baskets, fishing poles, and beach toys.
When you arrive, your home-away-from home will be sparkling clean, with fresh linens and up-to-date furnishings and decor.
Need to do a little work? Our home is equipped with a printer and high speed wireless internet connection. Just bring your laptop!
Fort Myers Beach is known for its magnificent sunsets and exciting nightlife, as well as a large number of excellent restaurants. To get anywhere on the beach, you can walk, take one of our bikes or hop on a trolley. There's even an app for that!
Just make sure you don't miss out on the amazing beach itself. It's worth waking up early at least once to get first pick of the shells and sand dollars left behind by the tide. And as you walk through the white, powdery sand and into the cool, clear gulf water, keep an eye out for dolphins at play.
Our family cherishes every moment we get to spend there, and we hope enjoy our Island Escape as much as we do.
I can't explain it, but there is something special about Fort Myers Beach. It's not just the soft, white sands, the breathtaking sunsets, and the abundance of wildlife. There's something about the people, too. The locals are friendly and down-to-earth, as are the visitors, who come from all over the world.
We love the mid-island location of our home. We're far enough away from Times Square that we don't to deal with the crowds 24/7, but if the kids want to go hang out there, they can walk, bike, or take the trolley. There are beach access crosswalks at either end of our neighborhood, and Publix grocery store is just a few blocks away.
This truly is our Island Escape. We lead hectic, stressful lives, but the minute we cross the bridge to Fort Myers Beach, we can feel the tension subside. From the colorful shops and restaurants in Times Square, to the pier, the gulf waters, and the amazing white-sand beach, there is always something to do...and nothing to do.
We're located 3.5 miles south of Times Square and the Pier. It's a very pleasant 5-6 minute walk to the beach from our home. On your way to the beach, you will pass a trolley stop at Estero Blvd. There is a pedestrian crossing right there, as well.
Publix supermarket and pharmacy is about 3 blocks north, and the Beach Theater is about 3 blocks south. There is a marina right behind Publix, along with a very nice restaurant.
Beach Access 16 is rarely crowded, and it's highly unlikely your children will be exposed to the party/spring break crowd while at 'our' beach.
If the San Carlos Bridge traffic is heavy, you can use the Bonita Bridge instead and avoid all the headaches.
The trolley costs .50 per person each way, and is a great way to get around on the island during peak season.
