Our stay was perfect in every way. The condo is clean, well stocked and perfect for our needs. The views are stellar and the location was very easy to drive into and out of. Carolyn was such a hoot and really got our stay off to a great start.
This condo more than met our needs, I was definitely pleased. This was the first time I came to Oahu, and did not need to re-clean the condo. It was so spotlessly clean, In the pictures I was worried wether the bed was really a queen. The pictures can fool you. Yes it is a queen. Very comfortable and just right. What you can't see is that the headboard consists of side night stands that are connected, so it makes it appear that bed is smaller. Don't worry- it is a queen. My family enjoyed our stay so much. David & Carolyn are so pleasant and helpful. Carolyn bent over backwards to make our stay pleasant. I would have enjoyed just going and having a girl's day with her. She was so much fun. Sunrises are just beautiful from the lanai. How I would love to be there again, sipping on my kona coffee in the morning. On Kuhio Rd, just down the road, is a place offering a buffet and a show for $20 a person. It is where the old Perry's used to be. Go there, the food was excellent, and so was the show. The buffet had everything including wonderful sushi. You will not be disappointed. This condo provided everything you need to make meals. The sofa bed was very nice for my teenage girls. The accordian door provided privacy for the bedroom w/ it's own flat screen TV. It is only 5 minutes to the beach. We would love to stay again.
I would stay there again.....The beds were new and the view was fantastic. The place could use some things like new silverware and plates etc. I did go out and buy a knife so we could have something sharp to cut meats and stuff. The people were nice that we dealt with, we enjoyed the time there.
I stayed here with my husband, our 3-month old son, and my in-laws. It was pretty cozy for 4 adults + infant, but it was nothing we couldn't live with. We stayed at the Banyan as part of a larger group (staying in 4 different units) and everyone agreed that our unit was the nicest one and the best price.
GORGEOUS view of Diamond Head, as we were up on the 34th floor of Tower 1. You also get a nice view of the ocean.
The unit overall was clean. The kitchen and bathroom are nicely updated. The queen bed in the bedroom was comfortable (where my husband and I slept) and the convertible bed is actually futon, in the living room, but it was pretty comfortable (according to my in-laws).
Beach gear included a beach umbrella, beach straw mats, a boogie board, a few coolers, a beach bag cooler, some snorkel gear. Good supply of linens, towels, and 4 beach towels. One towel had a blue stain on it but was otherwise clean. There was a little bit of dish soap, laundry detergent, and fabric softener, but not sure if that is provided by David or if just left over from previous renters. We had to buy more dish soap during our stay and left it there when we left. There was also some leftover unopened beverages in the fridge (again, likely leftover from previous renters). David was able to provide us with a crib (a pack n play) for our son to sleep in, which was great.
The condo is a short walk to the beach. We rented a mini van and met with Carolyn on our 1st day to get the parking pass and get checked-in to the unit. She is very chatty and friendly! Telephone includes free local calls and Wi-Fi was available as well. There were two flatscreen TVs but we didn't use them. Washer/dryer located at the end of the hall worked fine. $1.50 in quarters for a load in the washer. I didn't use the dryer but I think it was about $2.00.
The pool/hot tub, BBQ, and playground were located on the 6th floor. We never used the BBQ but from what we heard from another couple we met is that once you put money into the BBQ it runs on a timer, so if someone has used a BBQ before you, do NOT put money in to add more time -- wait until the time has run out to add more time or else you will lose your money.
Unfortunately, they were doing exterior maintenance on the condo during our stay, which meant no access to the lanai. But, we were able to slide the door open and hang wet items out to dry on the 2 chairs and table... just didn't lean on the rail.
This was my third stay at the Banyon, as I find it the best combination of price, location, and quality.
I was concerned at first with the prior review, but I learned from the listing agent David that the condo has been refurbished since, so I took the plunge.
I am pleased to report the the condo was comfortable and clean, and the bed was firm with good support. There was plenty of linen and towels, and the kitchen had a decent array of utensils and pots and pans. Also included was beach chairs, floats, a boogie board and other misc beach gear.
The views are unsurpassed ! What a great way to wake up and sip coffee.....My only slightly negative comment would be that the refrigerator was noisy at times without the doors fully closed......
This last trip, I was with my daughter for a surf trip before school, and we had a sudden one day delay of arrival due to family business. David and Carolyn were very accommodating, and Carolyn met us at 11 pm to give us the key and was cheerful.
In closing, this rental is a good value in a great location. We look forward to renting this condo again in the near future.
This rental unit could quite easily get 5 stars but loses out because of a few shortfalls. It is very clean, has an excellent view/location, and is reasonably equipped.
The mattress sags in the middle, the sofa's cushions are on their last legs, and the dated kitchen is a joke. The least the owner should do is proper maintenance - the kitchen faucet base is loose, the pocket door to the bathroom will rip your fingernails off, as will the kitchen drawers without handles.
Finally, another star is lost because the owner thinks his customer should pay the credit card processing fee. Imagine buying a new shirt, or TV, and the store adds its card processing fee to your bill... they'd go out of business so fast. That was the final insult.
Love the Banyan, but won't rent this unit again.
