'RUM & KAI' BEACH FRONT 1 BEDROOM - RUM POINT, GRAND CAYMAN

Grand Cayman Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Get away from it all at 'Rum and Kai', located at the Retreat in Rum Point. This beach front 1 bedroom condo is located in the stunning upscale vacation home enclave of Cayman Kai on beautiful Grand Cayman.

Completely renovated in 2003 with further updates in 2009, this 3rd floor unit is fully equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing beach front vacation. The unit is tastefully decorated with high-end furnishings and the finest linens; all in an understated, yet elegant tropical West Indies motif.

Featuring breathtaking beach and ocean views from the fully screened lanai and just steps from both the quiet pool and sandy white beach (fantastic for both swimming and snorkeling). The beach features both Palm and Casuarina trees for ample shade. Rum and Kai is the perfect size (1,039 sq. ft) for couples or a small family looking for a truly stress-free beach holiday.

Within walking distance to a pier, you are just minutes from the famous Sting Ray City and Cayman's renowned North Wall, also making Rum & Kai an ideal base for a Dive vacation.

With a king size bed, queen size sofa bed and twin pull out bed, Rum and Kai provides ample sleeping options. The fully equipped kitchen and available BBQ grills makes dining-in as easy as if you are home. But, since you are on vacation there are numerous restaurants located nearby.

In the unlikely event the weather forces you inside, you will appreciate the entertainment center featuring a large screen HDTV, Premium Cable, and a hard drive media center with over 250 movies and 700 TV episodes (many in HD). Classic board games and playing cards are also provided.

Conveniently next door is the popular Rum Point Club, featuring: restaurants, the Wreck bar, gift shop, water sports and snorkel rentals, dive shop and Sting Ray City trips.

The low density complex's amenities include: 1,200 feet of white sandy beach on the ocean (not some lagoon), pool, tennis court, fitness center, on-site management and the most amazing shades of blue the ocean can offer.

If your ideal beach vacation is to completely decompress by lounging or reading the day away on an empty beach (in the sun or shade); going for a dip or snorkel in the amazing water of the Caribbean; getting up for a bite to eat or to grab a drink; taking short day trips to see the sights; cooling off by the pool; ending the day by watching the sun set from the comfort of your lounge chairs; cooking in or dining out; then Rum & Kai at the Retreat may just be the place for you.

Far enough from everything you want to leave behind, yet close to everything you could need for a truly relaxing beach holiday.

MOST RELAXING PLACE ON THE ISLAND

My Husband and I rented the condo for 4 nights for our anniversary. The condo was very clean and well stocked. We loved the screened in porch and the convenience of having a kitchen and washer/dryer. One of the best snorkelling spots on the island is just a few yards from the condo. We stayed in Seven Mile the last 2 nights and while there are more things to do, we deifinitely enjoyed the condo more!

Dinner at Kaibo was well-prepared but the portions were small. I guess when you're paying 35 bucks for a piece of fish, you are expecting a normal portion size not appetizer (or sushi) size. Rum point was great for a casual lunch. Nice to sit right on the beach. We did rent a car which I highly recommend. Just to have more dining options and tour the island a bit. We had dinner at the Lighthouse. The atmosphere on the patio was very romantic. The drinks and appetizers were good. Our fish was overcooked, though. I can't remeber the name of the restaurant but our favorite was the one owned by the Indian gentleman. The lobster was fantastic!

While we love spending time at our Cayman home, we have some family members who cannot make the trip. So when we are back with them, it allows us to share our little abode with you.

Matt & Tracey purchased this condo in 2008

We finally found our little piece of paradise and would love to share it with you. Having rented countless (OK, a lot) vacation properties, we are quite in tune with what makes an enjoyable vacation rental and what doesn't. The natural beauty of the Rum Point area coupled with the amazing snorkeling right off shore sealed the deal for us. Being located on the quiet side of the island was just an added bonus.

Our unit is on the 3rd floor which provides for exceptional views of the blue Caribbean sea and all the peace and quite inherent in a top floor unit. We strive to deliver an outstanding product with hassle-free service for each of our guests. In the unlikely event our on-site management company is unable to accommodate any needs you have that may arise, we are only a phone call or e-mail away from providing assistance. So please, no worries and we hope you enjoy Rum and Kai as much as we do.

My husband and I stayed here for a week and we can't say enough great things about the condo. The pics are very accurate and the condo was stocked with all the necessities! We LOVED Rum Point area, it's a little out of the way so you will need to rent a car.
We especially loved walking the pier and snorkeling in the crystal clear water. We took an awesome trip to Stingray city Sandbar (this is an absolute must) that included 3 snorkeling stops-we used Tour Cayman (they were awesome and economical). If choose you to forgo this tour, Starfish Point is within walking distance and is amazing.
For Sunrise and Sunset lovers- this IS the place! You are positioned to see both from the beach in front of the Retreat.

Great condo with the best snorkeling right out the front door

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I traveled to Grand Cayman for our 5th wedding anniversary 5/12-5/17. We chose this condo based on its location, price, and great snorkeling near by. We also remembered from our honeymoon how quiet and relaxing the area near Rum Point was so we wanted to stay there and experience the area as much as we could.

We could not be happier with our choice! The condo is very well equiped and the view of the ocean is fantastic. The owner has done an awesome job of mapping out a lot of the snorkeling areas on the island and we appreciated following his guide. We spent a lot of time out at the Coral Gardens and drifting along the reef. We were so excited to see stingray, turtles, a moray eel, huge lobsters, and just about every fish immaginable. The colors were outstanding. We would make breakfast in the condo every morning and then enjoy our snorkel right of the beach or we would go down to the Cayman Kai Public Beach and start there.

We also enjoyed being next to Rum Point and going over there when we wanted to. We decided to do a jet ski safari with Red Sail Sports and it was a great trip. Very easy to get to from the condo and we didn't have to lug everything with us.

We also enjoyed going over to the Kaibo bar. We went to their Tuesday night bbq and had a great time.

Our special dinner was at the Lighthouse. We have a picture of us there when there was only one table on the dock. Now it can seat more tables, but the view is still great, the service outstanding, and the food was amazing.

The reservation process, payment, and communication with the owners was easy and hassle free. The description of the condo and pictures were spot on. We thank them for letting us stay at their place and we would recommend this place to anyone. I'm still astonished that our first time using VRBO resulted in two great places to stay on the island.

WOW ! Great Location

  • 5 of 5
Check in was a breeze, even after arriving at 8pm. Condo very welcoming and had everything you could possibly need for a great vacation. We always stay on 7 mile beach area and decided to come in early (Wednesday) and spend some time on the picture perfect, quiet side of the island. Needless to say, we will be doing this again ! Hands down we recommend this unit. Price was right, great location and owners made everything easy by having what you would need available. Loved being right next door to Rum Point

Beautiful Location/Lovely Condo

  • 5 of 5
Rum & Kai was the perfect location for our trip to Grand Cayman. The condo is on the quiet side of the island, away from the bustle and bustle of Georgetown and 7 Mile Beach. Condo is wonderfully appointed and has everything you could possibly need. Condo is perfect for a couple or family with young children. The management company was quick to respond to requests. Beach area was perfect. Matt, the owner, answered all questions prior to arrival. If you have never rented a condo in the Caribbean before, Rum & Kai and Grand Cayman are the place to do it. Groceries are easily accessible and similar to US. You must have a car if you are on this side of the island. Adjusting to driving on the left side of the road is easy.
Things to do:
Blowholes
Lighthouse
7 Mile Beach (you have to see the beach and the water) - Public access is everywhere
Stingray sandbar
Snorkeling (condo has snorkeling gear!)
Bioluminescence kayak trip at night
Botanical gardens

Restaurants
Our fav - Kaibo Yacht Club. Try the tasting menu. Also, the Friday closest to the full moon is Luna del Mar - seating on the beach.
Lighthouse (on North Shore)
Restaurant eating is expensive on the island. We spent no less than $70 US for lunch. Dinners are much more expensive.

First Class Accomodations

  • 5 of 5
The condo's third floor location, on the water, is perfect! The unit is beautifully decorated with wood and rattan furniture and gorgeous accessories. I was amazed at the extent the owners have taken to stock the unit with everything that you will need. Just to mention a few of the ammenities: everal coolers, a whole tub of snorkel gear, beach chairs and umbrella, games, books and beach towels. The coordinated bed and bath linens are beautiful and luxurious. Rum Point is a great alternative to the crowded Seven Mile area. The area is quiet and the water and beach is far better! There is a fully staffed dive shop, bar, lunch venue and two restaurants right next door. You can snorkel right outside your front door and see an amazing array of sea life.

A very well kept condo and property, and the description of amentities were accurate. The furnishings were of good quality and the place was very clean. The bed was very comfy and the linens were soft, and there was an abundance of towels, bath tissue, etc. Owner also provided games and beach accessories for our use.

I would recommend a car to shop and explore the island as there are no grocery stores that are close. This is a place of absolute peace and relaxation, and there are safe neighborhood roads to take a morning jog or stroll.

Tukka restaurant on east side is relatively new and I would give it thumbs up for lunch. They offer an optional subsitution of salad (at no additional cost) with sandwiches. Over The Edge is also a good bet, and lots of locals eat there. On the upscale, Grand Ole House near town is a wonderful experience and is a little more formal (though dress codes are more relaxed for lunch).

I would definitely recommend this place for seekers of peace and solace. Great for couples.
