We love to ski, bike, and swim. So, we looked in Tahoe, but after sitting in traffic for eight hours, then standing in ridiculously long lift lines, we asked ourselves, there has to be something better, closer. So we found ourselves in MiWuk. It was only two and a half hours away, and there were a ton of things to do around the area. We love our place. It's cozy, comfortable and picturesque. Best of all, our cabin is situated across from a meadow - a great place for sledding, snowman making, biking, and hiking.

Everything is close, and if it has snowed, you only have to walk across the street to get to a gorgeous meadow.

Charming Cabin??? hmmmm...

First of all, I dont know if this is the same house in the picture, with the meadow and trees up to the house. the house is nice and there is a meadow but across the street. There is no view of meadow from house. The view is of trees, which is nice. The decor inside the house was not my taste. Moose dusty clutter and rusty pipes on mantle. Dusty clutter on old wood stove and hanging on walls. There are a few nice pictures in the house. The furniture was not comfortable. Especially the beds.My hip literally hurt if i laid on my side. The beds are extremely hard. The sheets are very old and scratchy. We left a day early because we were so uncomfortable and just..over it. We were given 4 towels for a week....Not enough. there are also not enough bowls/pans/pots to cook and bake with. There is a good selection of movies to watch. The deck is nice, it was dirty when we arrived and there is a picnic table, but no chairs for it. We had to bring them from the house kitchen table. overall, i would never stay here again.I'm sorry to give such a bad review, wish it could have been better. Its in a nice area for access to pinecrest lake and hiking but next time i would stay in strawberry or somewhere else.also there were no maps in the house or any info on hikes in the area or anything really to do in the area...which is what i'm used to when i stay in a vrbo rental home.

Owner's Response: Hmmm…I almost don’t know where to begin with my response. We’ve only gotten great reviews so far. Our housekeeper won Best of the Motherlode, and every time we’ve personally been up, cleanliness has never been an issue. On the contrary, guests specifically comment on how super clean our place is compared to others they’ve rented. As to the moose décor, no apologies there. We like ‘em. We don’t have them at our house, but it’s our cabin, so we indulge ourselves. We have a website on our listings that people can refer to so they can get a good idea of what our place is like – we’ve never said it was in the meadow, but across the street – you can even see some moose in the pictures… Pipe on the mantel? True, but it’s mounted on a little plaque that reads Winter of 08 in remembrance of the time we were working on a broken pipe in the snow at 1 a.m. This is our second home. We’re allowed to keep things as mementos. In regards to the beds, we had a previous renter mention that some of our beds were too soft, so we went out and replaced some of them – it’s hard to gauge different needs, but there is a mix of firmnesses among the beds and buying new beds isn’t really feasible. Sadly, our sheets are from Kohls, not the Ritz Carlton’s boutique shop. As far as towels, had the renter only called me (I do mention in our contract that I’m available 24/7 via cell phone) I could have told them there were extra towels in the downstairs closet. Benches? Again, had the renter called me, the benches were under the carport. We go out of our way to accommodate our guests – once even going so far as having our housekeeper deliver a package from Sonora for guests that had an urgent need for it. It’s unfortunate that this renter had a bad experience at our place, though her suggestion about updated maps is a good one. I’m sure that among the many other choices that VRBO has to offer, she’ll find something that will accommodate her needs next time.

Clean, comfortable cabin near a beautiful meadow, great for sledding!

  • 5 of 5
My daughter, Siberian Husky and I spent a wonderful 3 nights at this great cabin. Very clean and nicely decorated. Steps away from "the meadow" - an absolutely wonderful sledding hill - soooo much fun! We used the downstairs bedroom and the bed was very comfortable. I had cell coverage (Sprint) which was handy. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Great Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay at this charming cabin. We stayed there from December 29th to January 1st 2013. The cabin had everything we needed, was convieniently located, and allowed us to bring our doggies. Even though the cabin was pet friendly, the cabin was very clean and didn't smell like dogs had ever been there. It took us about 20 minutes to get to a Ski resort and also takes about 20 minutes to get to a casino, a large supermarket and drug store are about 10 minutes away. I would definitely recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle or chains when coming in the winter months because there are some steep and icy roads close to the cabin. The owner was very accomodating and answered all of our questions. Overall great vacation spot, which is close to home and is beautifully surrounded by snow.

Great cabin with good location

  • 4 of 5
Our stay was great. The owners were great at contacting us promptly and responding to our questions. The house was very clean and comfortable. I was impressed that they had someone turn on the heaters prior to our arrival, which made the home a little warmer when we arrived. Love that they allow for dogs (and even have a small dog bed). Would definitely rent again. Great little cabin with a nice location.
