COTTAGE OVERLOOKING THE GUADALUPE RIVER AND 2.5 ACRES -NO CAN BAN HERE

My wife and myself rented what we thought was going to be a cottage at Camp Willow starting Jan. 19th 2013 for one month. We were sure that are experience would be quite wonderful. Unfortunately it proved to be quite the opposite. Upon arrival we were both shocked to find a trailer not a cottage. The place was extremely dirty to the point that my wife had to buy a mop the next day to mop the floors. The shower curtain we replaced because of mold and mildew and we bought 2 dish rags to replace the soiled towels that were present.
Our first night sleeping proved to be very uncomfortable with the beds. We tried the futon, but that had a canyon running through the middle of it and was not even close to being suitable for sleeping or sitting on. My wife weighs 135lbs. and I weigh 178, so we are not considered heavy.
To add to our poor start the beautiful view that we thought we were going to have of the lake was blocked by a 36ft. RV. Nothing like the pictures on the VRBO site. The kitchen had one pan and three pots, all of which it looked like they had not been cleaned. I sent the owner/manager an email of our concerns and called her on the phone # given. Unfortunately it was 11 days before she got back to me by email. Not until after 3 weeks did she finally call me back after I left a message the internet was not working and that I had no hot water.
The owner also has not returned our deposit. We’ve listed below some of the responses from the owner sent to us by email: It is legally called a park model. It is modular. What I call my houses since I own the property is at my decretion. Even when I go up to my mothers lake cabin, the beds I don't like so I take a foam mattress--but I feel thats my problem not hers to jump thru hoops for me. I have yet to stay in a hotel where I dont have to clean the air filter. Maybe next time the marriott down the road would better suit your discriminating tastes. If you don't like it, no one is stopping you from leaving. No, especially after all your harrassment, you will not get a refund on your stay. Or at this point, I will not refund your clean fee or pay for the items you bought due to your overly neurotic style of Cleaning and mattress desires. The continued and incessant harrassment-I will talk to my lawyer if this is cause to evict and I will talk to my lawyer about that tomorrow.
We hope this post helps others in making a rental decision. We obviously would not recommend Camp Willow for rental.
