This three bedroom two bath home is in the most coveted area of The Sea Ranch, just across the street from Shell Beach, and steps away from two other beautiful beaches with tide pools for exploring.
The master bedroom has a king bed and the 2 other bedrooms have queen beds. All have private balconies, where you can watch the waves crashing over rocks. There is an exceptionally large master suite with window seats and plenty of room for your portable crib(s). The master bedroom has a walk-in closet stocked with toys and kids books.
Listen to the seals barking while soaking in the hot tub on the back deck, go for hikes on the 10 miles of private Sea Ranch trails, dive for abalone at Shell Beach, go kayaking or picnicing on the banks of the Gualala River, enjoy the beautiful golf course, tennis courts, sauna and pools that are part of The Sea Ranch. Or just do nothing, spending time playing family games, doing puzzles, whale watching, reading, and observing the deer and foxes in the adjacent meadows from this beautiful peaceful home.
This is a perfect place for dogs, with a large back yard, a fenced in deck and miles of hiking trails. We allow up to two well-behaved canines.
It is also a perfect place for kids of all ages, with the beach across the street, and a quiet street for bike riding and skateboarding. We are just a five minute walk from One Eyed Jacks, which is the only playground in all of The Sea Ranch.
The Sea Ranch is a unique community of people who value the beauty of the land and the wildlife on the California coast. The homes blend into the land with large lots and lots of space. The vegetation is natural, attracting deer who wander through the meadows.
The home has a newly remodeled kitchen with granite counters, a dishwasher, coffeemaker, blender, and dishes of all kinds. We also have a Weber charcoal grill on the balcony adjacent to the kitchen and overlooking the ocean. You need to bring your own sheets, towels and beach towels. We also have a washer and dryer. We have a library with over 300 books, games, and jigsaw puzzles.
We also have two televisions, linked to Direct TV satellite, with over 200 stations, and a DVD, CD player, and free Internet access, as well as free usage of a telephone.
The lovely town of Gualala, just 4 miles to the North, has two excellent grocery stores, a pharmacy, the best video store we've ever seen (Gualala Video) as well as many art studios, a bookstore, a Saturday morning farmer's market, and many other amenities.

Debra and Michael, the homeowners, are both publishers. We have two teenage children, and have been spending time at The Sea Ranch since before our children were born. We go to our vacation home as often as possible, but find that our children's activities keep us here in Marin County most weekends.
We always bring our dog (or dogs) to Sea Ranch with us and enjoy hiking and meeting other dogs while walking the trails.
Rams Head Rentals purchased this house in 1998
We love The Sea Ranch because it is unique. There is no community like it, with a deep commitment to the natural environment, friendly people, great local food, hiking and the best weather on the northern California coast. We waited for many years for the perfect home to come on the market, and were thrilled to be able to buy Shell Beach House, which was the most rented house in all of The Sea Ranch, because of its perfect location.
Over the past 16 years, we have stayed at many, many Sea Ranch houses and this is definitely one of the best. The location and views are superb, the interior layout is comfortable, but what really made this weekend so special was the generous and thoughtful way the house is equipped. I have never before stayed in a home with kids toys and books --perfect to keep our 18 month old occupied and interested -- new toys are always a great distraction. My 8 and 9 year old enjoyed the games and puzzles and the way they could do things in their own space. We appreciated the quality and detail in the kitchen, from pots to plates and the coffee grinder. (I fretted all the way up when I realized that I had brought my essential Peet's beans but no grinder --what a relief to find one here!). I also appreciated the range and depth of the library -- something of quality for everyone. Also it is nice that the hot tub actually gets hot -- at least half of the Sea Ranch houses I've rented have had malfunctioning hot tubs which can only be described as disappointing lukewarm tubs. My parents enjoyed reading by the window seats -- truly something for everyone. We saw many, many seals -- 70 or 80 hauled out at a time -- wonderful!
Thanks so much for your generosity!
The region's seal birthing area is at Tidepool beach, just steps away, Shell Beach (across the street) is one of the area's best spots for abalone fishing due to easy kayak access - be sure to get a license!, whale migration viewing from one of our many decks or window seats.
