This casita was our home for 15 years,(we built it in 1995) now it is the guest house to our newly built big house on the same property. We are at the end of a dead end road with 360 views. The house is two stories, with two bedrooms upstairs one with a queen and the other with a bunk bed with a single on top and double below. There is only 1 bathroom and it is upstairs. There is a gate at the top of the stairs to keep wee ones from tumbling down. It has radiant heat and the passive solar will knock your socks off. It has an outdoor hot tub with a wall around it. We live next door approx. 50 yards away with our 8 year old daughter and Rat Terrier Pancho(he is a dog, not a rat). The house is 850 sq feet and best suited for a couple with or with out kids. We are a 1.5 miles to Arroyo Seco, the jewel of Taos County, 9 miles from Taos Ski Valley, and 10 miles to the town of Taos.
We are the owners of Taos Cow Ice Cream Co. in Arroyo Seco, and in the winter work up in the ski valley at the Hotel St. Bernard. We have an 8 year old girl keeping us in line and are a wealth of local knowledge. I was a raft guide and ski instructor for 10 years and my husband was a bicycle guide as well. We both grew up on the east coast and moved out here right after college, but have made Taos our home for almost 25 years.
We built this house after purchasing the land in 1994.We lived in it until we had too many visitors wanting to come visit all the time, so we built our current home on the same spectacular piece of property.
This house is in a great location if visiting Taos. We are just down the hill from the ski valley, so after a day on the slopes you can still catch the sunset and enjoy the hot tub and regain any warmth the ski valley has sapped. There are challenging mountain bike trails just out the driveway, and great hikes into the Rio Grande Gorge. This cozy little house is all you need after a day of high altitude exertion.
