Welcome to our get-a-way on Bass Lake!
When you arrive you will be blown away by the wide angle view you have of the lake.
This view is not filled with boats and clanking docks. It is pure lake. Our community dock is just off to the right of the view and about a 30 second walk down.
This cabin was originally built in 1930 by the Duncan family out of Fresno, but has seen several remodels over the years. What started out as 300 square feet grew to 1800. The original cabin still remains in the middle of the home as does what is left of the old chimney, which fell over years ago. Now you will find all the modern conveniences, wood pine floors, triple bunk full size beds, washer & dryer, air conditioning, etc.
Being positioned on the point gives the home one of the best views on the lake. There are no other homes in the view. We can't call it lake front technically only because the little country road is between us and the lake. The National Forest lines the other side of the lake.
Just a short walk through Wishon Camp and the woods and you are at Miller's Landing for hamburgers, ice cream, fishing hooks and worms!
The deer path on the property is frequented almost daily by the real locals if you remain quiet.
This is really a home to us and does not feel like a rental. It has been beautifully decorated to give you that lake cabin feeling. We are happy to share our family's getaway with you. Be sure to check the calendar to see availability.

My wife and three daughters have been vacationing at Bass Lake for 18 years. For ten of those years we rented in Willow Cove and loved it. Then we found Wishon on the other side of the lake near Miller's Landing. There are only 26 homes there. 13 along the water and 13 up behind those homes up off the water. We were lucky enough to acquire the only home on 1/2 acre on the point! The rest is history!
Ed Hanley purchased this house in 2004
This lake has been the get-a-way spot for many families for many generations. What makes Bass Lake so special is that it is at the 3400 foot elevation so you are in the big trees and out of the hot valley. The lake is considered a shallow lake which makes the water warm...up to 85 degrees in August! Less than 10% of the lake's shoreline has homes on it, so it is not over developed. That which is not developed is National Forest land. You couldn't design a better formula for a lake.
Only a few homes in our neighborhood rent and only one couple lives there year-round. The homes are mostly empty year-round. This makes it very quiet and private! There is ample parking for your boat or jet ski trailers so no need to store them off-site. The launch ramp is 1/4 mile away and is FREE! Bass Lake affords great water sports including water skiing, wakeboarding and fishing. Being that Bass Lake is considered a 'shallow' lake, the water gets warm...up to 85 degrees in August! The locals know a great spot to rope swing and cliff dive. I will give you those secrets. The home is one hour from the floor of Yosemite! Right next to the house is a great trail head for any hikers in your family..
Our stay at this property was very enjoyable. The house was perfect for us and was just what we were looking for. It is just as the pictures show and very homey and cottagey (if that's a word). The owners are very nice and easy to get along with. We traveled into the Yosemite Valley and hiked and went to Christmas fairs and lovely French dinners in Oakhurst. There are really good hiking trails right down the road from the house. All in all a wonderful experience. Dinner at Ducey's is a must.
This wonderful, spacious home was fully equipped and beautifully decorated. The home and grounds were immaculate. Our 1 week stay was a delight with its elegant, yet comfortable furnishings and the amazing lake view and fun activities at nearby (5 minute walk) Miller's Landing were enjoyed throughout our stay.
The owner was very easy to work with, easy to contact and extremely helpful in answering our questions. He gave us helpful and valuable tips about fun activities and amenities in the area.
Miller's Landing has boat, kayak and stand-up paddle rentals, family restaurant, small grocery store. Around the other side of the lake, there's a bigger grocery store for practically everything else you'd need. But we went to the Costco in Fresno and Von's in Oakhurst first since we were arriving through there anyway.
Yosemite National Park is a bit of a drive away, but well worth the visit--spend at least 3 days there. The Sequoia National Park is also awesome--probably 1 day is good.
We completely enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.
Thanks so very much for your wonderful hospitality and letting us stay in your lovely home. We hope to be able to come back!
