Like eating and picking berries? Between Elk Rapids and Traverse City are miles of cherry trees, fresh-fruit stands and almost any berry you could ever want to pick, eat or cook. Stop by any roadside stand and buy a freshly made pie, or stop in at the pick-your-own places, and let the kids pick the cherries right off the tree - adults too!

We are from Texas and really enjoy the cooler summers and lower humidity of Northern Michigan.
Jim Hearn purchased this house in 2005
A quiet secluded spot on Lake Michigan with spectacular sunsets and perfect summer and fall weather. This location puts you squarely between Traverse City and Charlevoix with access to the water, shopping, antique shops, fishing, boating, and numerous world class eateries. Great golf is only five minutes away at the Sundance course at Ag-a-ming, or play the scenic but more user friendly Torch course with views of Torch Lake.
We had a delightful return trip to this quiet, secluded Northern Michigan home. We stayed a week longer than last time & enjoyed more time down at the shoreline & beach area, sight seeing in nearby towns & of course, playing lots of golf. This home is in excellent condition & the owners are accessible if need be. Our weather was good so we were able to grill outdoors & dine "al fresco" at a few restaurants nearby. 5 stars & hats off once again to this great escape location - we appreciate the opportunity to rent such a piece of "Pure Michigan" paradise!!
What a wonderful home & beautiful location! The house had everything we could have asked for and more! The owners were very accommodating. The location is perfect for a private and peaceful get away! The view of the sunsets from the deck are breath taking! I can still hear the laughter of my children as they played at the beach for hours on end. A truly relaxing vacation. We are already planning our return trip for next year!
We needed a spot to rest and just get back in touch with life. This house and spot was perfect. The house is well appointed, with really nice furnishings and a very comfortable bed. I'm used to seeing second-hand or old furnishings in a vacation spot, but that was definitely not the case here. The quality abounds.
The house had everything we needed! I really enjoyed drinking coffee on the deck, and my husband kept up with the World Cup on the tv. Wifi was mostly ok, though we did have a little trouble occasionally. The owner talked us through a correction though, so not really a problem. We were able to grill our dinner on the deck on the nights we stayed in and I really appreciated the makeup mirror in the main floor bathroom for the nights we went out.
The beach was lovely and the steps down to it were well designed. We enjoyed the swing so we didn't have to haul much down the steps. The water was refreshing! This was a nice find in a great area. We'd love to return!
This rental is easy to find yet private & secluded and the location is just minutes from Traverse City to the south or Torch Lake to the north. Our family of four, (2 seniors w/daughter & 5 yr old grand daughter), rented the beach house for a week.....a week was not enough!! The website is 100% accurate w/photos & descriptions. What you can not experience unless you rent however, is the QUALITY of the home. The bedding/linens are "top drawer comfort" in both bedrooms. The kitchen is a nice size w/extras like French bake ware, nice glassware and plenty of flatware. The outside (main) upper deck is roomy & wraps around the home w/optional retractable awning. Charcoal Webber grilling is easy & scenic b/c the deck provides a view of the East Bay. The views are nice from several spots, both inside & out and would be BREATHTAKING if the owner would consider removal/trimming of just a few trees/branches. The best part of our week was the time we spent down on the beach - lots of steps getting down the bluff but it is a safe, well designed descend. The water is shallow & warm at the shoreline, the sand is good for walking & for building castles. The sunsets must be experienced first hand......they occur DIRECTLY across the water from this property!! The rental has flat screen TVs, central air, WiFi, a large laundry room & a very spacious loft w/bunk beds. The atmosphere is overall "beachy casual" but has an upscale Northern Michigan decorative flair that gives a genuine "up north lodge" feel. Be certain to give this rental your every consideration!!
Great view and beach is very usable. The home has every amenity and feature you can think of. The only issue is that there are 66 steps to the lake and the home is on three levels, so handicapped or elderly could have issues. Very clean and maintained to perfection.
Would rent this again when in the Traverse City area.
Great location between Traverse City and Petoskey. Home was secluded with great view of the bay.
The accomodations were very nice and homey. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well equiped. We enjoyed the place so much, we would return for another visit.
