SECLUDED BEACH FRONT HOME ON EAST BAY

Kewadin House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (perfect for 4-5 max)

Secluded and quiet location with 150+ feet of private frontage on East Bay. Miles of sandy beach allowing for long walks and impressive views of the sunset. Our property is conveniently located just north of Elk Rapids with easy access to Traverse City, Charlevoix, Torch Lake, Alden, as well as golf, public and private boat launches and water sports on the bay or chain of Lakes. A number of world class restaurants and eateries are also found within a short drive north or south.

Our property is very deep and elevated, enhancing the lake view and yet not visible from the street. An antique swing on the beach is perfect for relaxing and watching the amazing summer sunsets across the bay and Lake Michigan. Our property is also just north of Old Mission Peninsula allowing boaters easy access to Grand Traverse Baya and Lake Michigan. If you like hunting for Petosky stones, you have come to the right place.

Our home has a large private master bedroom with lake views and private bath. The entire home is furnished with classic natural wood furniture providing a cozy up-north feeling. The second bedroom has queen bed with bath just outside the door. The kitchen was rebuild five years ago with new cabinets, appliances and flooring. The kitchen, master, great room and deck all share panoramic views of the Lake and Bay. The wrap around deck provides access to both the front and lake side of the house and is furnished with comfortable chairs and loveseat for relaxing nights watching Michigan sunsets across the Lake.

Traverse City (Cherry Capital of the World) has become one of the most visited summer locations in the Upper Midwest. The National Cherry Festival is held at the beginning of July each year and provides a multitude of fun activities. In even calendar years, the Blue Angels perform spectacular air shows at the base of West Bay on July 4th as large crowds gather on beaches and decks to take in the acrobatic shows. Other activities nearby include boating, hiking, fishing and of course shopping on Front Street in Traverse City or in the quaint towns of Elk Rapis or Alden; Clinch Park Zoo, Traverse City Pie Company, Interlochen Music Festival, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Charlevoix, Petosky and Harbor Springs are also fun towns to visit. If you like golf, you may never leave. With with over 100 courses within an hours drive from our home, you can play some of Michigan's best. The Bear and Wolverine are found at Grand Traverse Resort only 15 minutes away, Ag-a-ming boasts two great courses within five minutes of our home, and for the golf purist, access to the private Kingsley Club ranked in the top 50 modern courses in America can be played with a special reservation via our membership - inquire upon making a reservation. At Boyne Mountain and Highlands you can find nine courses; Forest Dunes, an hour away, is the top rated public facility in the state.

Like eating and picking berries? Between Elk Rapids and Traverse City are miles of cherry trees, fresh-fruit stands and almost any berry you could ever want to pick, eat or cook. Stop by any roadside stand and buy a freshly made pie, or stop in at the pick-your-own places, and let the kids pick the cherries right off the tree - adults too!

Do you like wine? On Old Mission Pennisula you can find several vineyards and that have tours and wine tasting dinners. A romantic evening enjoying jazz music, sipping wine and watching a Michigan sunset will leave a lasting memory. I hope you enjoy our piece of paradise!

We are from Texas and really enjoy the cooler summers and lower humidity of Northern Michigan.

Jim Hearn purchased this house in 2005

A quiet secluded spot on Lake Michigan with spectacular sunsets and perfect summer and fall weather. This location puts you squarely between Traverse City and Charlevoix with access to the water, shopping, antique shops, fishing, boating, and numerous world class eateries. Great golf is only five minutes away at the Sundance course at Ag-a-ming, or play the scenic but more user friendly Torch course with views of Torch Lake.

Tranquility Abounds at this Beachcomers Paradise

This rental is easy to find yet private & secluded and the location is just minutes from Traverse City to the south or Torch Lake to the north. Our family of four, (2 seniors w/daughter & 5 yr old grand daughter), rented the beach house for a week.....a week was not enough!! The website is 100% accurate w/photos & descriptions. What you can not experience unless you rent however, is the QUALITY of the home. The bedding/linens are "top drawer comfort" in both bedrooms. The kitchen is a nice size w/extras like French bake ware, nice glassware and plenty of flatware. The outside (main) upper deck is roomy & wraps around the home w/optional retractable awning. Charcoal Webber grilling is easy & scenic b/c the deck provides a view of the East Bay. The views are nice from several spots, both inside & out and would be BREATHTAKING if the owner would consider removal/trimming of just a few trees/branches. The best part of our week was the time we spent down on the beach - lots of steps getting down the bluff but it is a safe, well designed descend. The water is shallow & warm at the shoreline, the sand is good for walking & for building castles. The sunsets must be experienced first hand......they occur DIRECTLY across the water from this property!! The rental has flat screen TVs, central air, WiFi, a large laundry room & a very spacious loft w/bunk beds. The atmosphere is overall "beachy casual" but has an upscale Northern Michigan decorative flair that gives a genuine "up north lodge" feel. Be certain to give this rental your every consideration!!

Owner's Response: Thank you Cathleen. I considered knocking down all the trees to open up the view, but all the experts said I would be crazy to allow the fierce north winds direct access to my home in the winter. Being a wooden frame home, I tend to lean toward protecting it as the winds in the winter are often 40 mph+. Sure glad you enjoyed your stay - thanks for the kind words.

Great view and beach is very usable. The home has every amenity and feature you can think of. The only issue is that there are 66 steps to the lake and the home is on three levels, so handicapped or elderly could have issues. Very clean and maintained to perfection.

Would rent this again when in the Traverse City area.

Our stay at this place exceeded our wildest expectations! A beautiful, peaceful getaway. The sunsets were amazing! The privacy was deeply appreciated-- Like having your own private, secluded beach. The place was immaculate and beautifully furnished. The owners were kind and helpful. We felt like we were visiting a friend's summer home instead of renting from strangers.

This house was fantastic for our summer vacation. Very clean, comfortable and well located. Just a short drive to nearby towns, but we spent most of the time enjoying the deck and beach. We have a 10 year old and an 8 year old who both enjoyed playing in the water, exploring for cool rocks and floating in the innertube. The sunset was beautiful from the west facing deck! We hope to visit this great home again.
