Owner and artist occupied, this charming Victorian shotgun has been lovingly restored and updated with great attention to details both inside and out. The unique decor includes original artwork, collected curios and textiles from trips abroad. The mix of antiques and contemporary furnishings, quality bed linens and towels assure a stylish, comfortable, and restful stay.
Guest quarters are located in the back of the house accessed by a private entrance through shaded gardens. Entering the apartment places you in the living room which can sleep 2 on one of the pull out queen sized sofa beds. Additional seating and a flat screen TV provided as well. One of three bathrooms equipped with a shower in a claw foot tub is located off this room in the far left corner.
The master suite is also accessed from the living room through a door on the far right wall. Please note it has a separate entrance as well from the back patio in case someone is sleeping in the living room you don’t want to disturb. The suite has a queen sized bed, a twin trundle bed that can be converted into a king, flat screen TV, Kuerig coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge and toaster and a private bathroom with a stand up shower and a jetted tub. The master suite can sleep up to 4 people.
The kitchen is directly to your left off the living room and is furnished with all the amenities, including a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, stove, large refrigerator, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a small table that can seat 4.
Through the kitchen is the second queen bedroom that accommodates 2 with a flat screen TV and french doors that open out to the guest patio and gardens.
In a separate building that dovetails the back of the house you’ll find the third bedroom. A former painting studio, this unit is light and airy with a more contemporary feel. The queen bed is in a sleeping loft up easily navigable stairs. The living room below has the other queen sleeper sofa, flat screen TV, walk-in closet, a fold out table that seats 6. This unit sleeps up to 4. Through another well appointed kitchen you’ll find the third bathroom with a shower, washer dryer, and a door to the guest patio.
The outdoor gardens and private patio provide the perfect space to entertain small parties while enjoying the rustle of Giant Timber bamboo as it sways with the breeze. For nature enthusiasts, whether it’s butterflies, cicadas, geckos, and frogs or birds including woodpeckers, hummingbirds, cardinals, jays, red tailed hawks, gulls and the city’s chatty parrots, the local wildlife has found a home or at least a temporary perch in the diverse array of plants and trees of the surrounding gardens.
The guest patio provides ample room for guests to spread out and relax with seating for 4-6 at a dining table, and another conversational seating area accommodating 5-6. Cooking out is easy on the gas grill and outdoor dining accessories like food tents, melamine plates and serveware are provided as well. Seasonal herbs such as rosemary, mint, oregano, and basil are typically available in the old sink planter by the apartment door to add fresh flavors to both food and drink. When in season, Meyer lemons, Kumquats and Blood oranges abound and will be made available in fruit baskets by the herbs.
Off the back patio through a gated entrance is the shared pool with the owner. Recently added, the pool is a gorgeous 50 foot stretch of gentle mineral waters, the latest in pool chemical technologies. Pool hours will vary according to season and owner’s schedule, but usually will be available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
