This is an unique home that is located on 59 acres of land. It has been in the same family for generations and was first used as a summer home and then winterized about 40 years ago.
The large wrap around porch has an amazing view of the White Mountains and you can sit there for hours just listening to the stream - looking out at the mountains. One of the wonderful features about this home is that you are completely surrounded by nature while you are there but just a few minutes away you have great restaurants, shopping, golf, skiing and one of the best Farmer's Markets in the area to do your food shopping. As well nearby is the Village of Barnard where there is a State Park on Silver Lake. And there is The Barnard General Store for a great breakfast! Max's Tavern at the Barnard Inn is a wonderful place to have dinner they also have a formal Dining room. The house is comfortable and cozy for two or 14. During the winter months 4 wheel or all wheel drive is needed to get to the house.
First floor: The first floor has a Master bedroom with a full bath and there is an adjoining bedroom with two twin beds, called the 'toe to toe' room. Off these rooms is the large Living room with lots of comfortable places to curl up in front of the fireplace. It has two large window seats, couch, chaise lounge, rocking chair, etc. The next room used to be the formal Dinning room but is now the Family/TV room, it too has lots of seating space, with another fireplace. Then there is the eat in Kitchen that is fully equipped and has a table that can seat 10+. There is a shed off the kitchen that has a BBQ grill. You are totally under cover while at the grill.
On the second floor there are three Bedrooms with Queen size beds and three Bathrooms. One being a suite with it's own bath. One has an open room just off it with a child's bed. Then there is the Nursery with two twin beds and another bedroom with twin beds. The upper bathrooms have old claw foot tubes with hand held showers. We are working on getting a real shower installed upstairs. All bedrooms are nicely decorated, and have lots of closet space. Also on the the second floor is the laundry room. The house is like stepping back into a time less complicated but with all the modern comforts. It is the perfect place to spend time with your family and friends in a relaxed environment.
Caretakers live on the road and are available if needed.
At one time this whole road was owned by family members. They all came here to get away for the summers in beautiful Vermont. There is a private 100 year old Fishing club at the end of the dead end road. This is a true family place. Lots of room to all be together and room to be off on your own. The Appalachian Trail is with in walking distance and off that is a great hike up to Lucy's Lookout where you get a 360 degree view of Vermont and New Hampshire.

From Park City Utah, we loved our time in this lovely house. We enjoyed every nook and cranny and especially the wrap around porch. Our meals in the kitchen were perfect.
We arrived at Red Top and were absolutely delighted to find this charming home that matched the description. It was beautifully maintained and had everything we could want. Our four year old nephew loved playing with the toys and everyone loved hanging on the porch. We would have been happy to stay at the house the entire time and enjoy the views, but we did some hiking, swimming and exploring. Woodstock is a beautiful town. The kids love the ice cream shop. We enjoyed lunch at the Long Trail Brewery. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
This home is just perfect for a mix of singles and couples. My group of 14 had a wonderfully comfortable stay for a mid-summer long weekend. The house, which sits atop a hill, looks out over a breathtaking Vermont vista. There's plenty of seating for all on the wrap-around porch... we only went in to sleep and shower!
The house is very well-appointed, with plenty of clean, crisp linens and towels throughout. The home is kitschy with unique decor that makes you feel like you're staying in a bed and breakfast, full of character. We all especially liked the claw-foot bathtubs!
Owners and caretakers, Lesley and Kevin were attentive without crowding us. Kevin stopped by just once to check-in, and it was so nice to know they were around the corner if we needed their assistance. Arranging the weekend was quite easy, as well. I would recommend this Vermont home to anyone looking for a large house in a quaint Vermont town!
The house is fantastic and the property is spectacular. Seven legitimate bedrooms and a large dining table give the entire crew plenty of space an privacy. The decoration and appointments are excellent and the view from the porch is simultaneously jaw dropping and tranquil. We all stood on the porch for quite some time before leaving, soaking in as much scenery and tranquility as possible. The fireplaces look tempting and cosy....we may have to return in the winter!
We loved the house and the property, and the owner was nice enough when we ended up in a snowbank to help us get out. Never seen so much snow! Lillian Nolan
What a lovely, comfortable home this is. Our extended family had a wonderful time cooking in the well equipped kitchen (wedding cakes were made here!), relaxing in front of the well furnished wood fireplace in the evening, and climbing into comfy beds with lots of cozy duvets and blankets available as needed. The quiet serenity of the country surrounding us on the hill top was quite peaceful. The property was very well provisioned and maintained, and the manager was able to accommodate a few extra days that we badly needed. I would recommend Red Top to anyone who needs a place for a large family gathering. Thank you Bonnie and Lesley for making our daughters' Barnard wedding just that more memorable for us all. ( The 'bride' actually dressed and had quiet moments in this lovely large house on the wedding day which was a special delight for her I'm sure.)
We went with 3 other families for a columbus day weekend get-away. This place is amazing for a rental home. It is well equiped with all cooking tools, serving plates and so many beddings to accormodate large parties. It is well decorated with different themes throughout the house.
The jack and jill suite on first floor is perfect for one family. The little staircase from kitchen to upstairs bedrooms were a huge hit for kids. We spent unforgettable fun time playing cards, eating meals around the huge table in kichen.
Would definitely recommend for families for reunion, get-aways and etc.
