Nosara House Rental Photos and Description
3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6
If you want to get away from it all, yet have access to everything, Casa Largo is the place. Nestled among monkeys and parrots on the mountaintop above the quaint fishing village of Garza, Costa Rica, our villa is the perfect retreat for a couple, couples, or small family seeking seclusion and relaxation. While home, sit under the comfortable shade of our wrap-around porch and enjoy the breathtaking view of Playa Guiones. Do yoga, read, nap, watch birds, swim in our gorgeous infinity pool, or soak in our luxury, jungle jacuzzi. In the evenings, grill and dine al fresco, watch the sunset, and linger in one of our rocking chairs under the stars. When you want to get out, just drive to one of the many restaurants just three to six miles away in Esperanza and Nosara. If you like the beach, Playa Garza is just five minutes down the hill and the popular surfing beach, Playa Guiones, is just 20 minutes away. Samara Beach and Playa Carillo are only thirty- minutes south.
There are many activities that can be booked in Nosara including deep-sea fishing, surf lessons, monkey tours, river tours, horseback riding, canopy tours, and turtle tours on Ostional Beach. But if you are like us, you will find that you have everything you need right here on the hill. If you need to work and stay connected to the world, we also have US satellite TV and Internet access.
The house is large, with cathedral ceilings and screened-in windows for ventilation. Together with the wrap-around porch, the house stays very cool. Although there is an air conditioning unit in the private casita, we rarely use it. This is the perfect house for a couple or couples, or a small family with adult kids. We do not recommend the home for small children due to the openness with the pool and nature. There is also a gourmet kitchen with all amenities. If rugged luxury is your cup of tea, then this is the place for you.
For people interested in mind/body wellness, the area is one the Blue Zone's in the world, featured by National Geographic. A Blue Zone is a region of the world where people commonly live past 100 due to the area's healthy environment and living styles. The Nosara area is also home to the Blue Spirit Retreat Center, affiliated with New York's Omega Center, and the Nosara Yoga Institute. Our home is an easy (ten-minute) driving distance of both of these places and offers a peaceful setting to return home to after classes.
Organic vegetables and meats are available on weekends at the farmer's market.

About Karen Vaughan
We are a couple in our 40s who swapped the jungles of New York City for those of Costa Rica...and we couldn't be happier. We take pleasure in sharing our home with others who appreciate the beauty of nature and the simpler pleasures in life.
Karen Vaughan purchased this house in 2008
Why Karen Vaughan chose Nosara
Our home is located in Garza, which is about 6 miles south of Guiones beach, so if you want to be within walking (200 meters) of the ocean, this home is not for you. However, please note, homes near the water tend not to have cool breezes or vistas of the ocean. They also have more mosquitoes and during dry season/high season, you will be inundated with dust from the dirt roads. I used to own property in Nosara, but the dust was too much, and so we moved to the Vista Royal community in the hills above Playa Garza ... overlooking the Pacific Ocean! We couldn't be happier here! Vista Royal is an exclusive development with 10 homes in a gated community with soft-security personnel that overlooks Playa Guiones and/or Playa Garza...the home is near Blue Spirit (~3 miles), Nosara Yoga Institute (~5 miles), and the center of Guiones (about 6 miles). Our home overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is ~1.5 miles from Garza beach and 5 miles from Nosara beaches.
What makes this house unique
Our home is semi-eco friendly...gravity fed water but water pressure is not an issue, and solar hot water...never a problem for showers, etc., but excessive clouds will result in lower water temp. In addition, we get wonderful ocean/jungle breezes and only have air conditioning in the room that is detached from the main house (casita) for those who cannot do without, although we rarely use it. We are amazed at how few mosquitoes and other annoying bugs are up here and it is not problem keeping the doors open in the evening. We have a newly constructed jacuzzi (again, solar heated), and can sleep 6 in three bedrooms (master has a CA-King, the other room has two full-sized beds that can be combined to form a King, and the other bedroom is 20 feet detached from the main house and has a Queen bed). In addition to a wrap-around veranda with many seating options, there are two terraces: a solarium and a shade deck--both overlooking the canopies and ocean.
