About Judy Deist

Harold Deist is a professional artist who paints in oil with traditional landscapes ranging from the southwest adobe architecture to the surrounding desert and mountains. Other subjects are water and boats, remarkable sunsets, and the animals of the area. He is represented in Denver, CO at Abend Gallery. His paintings reside in countries all over the world. His paintings were chosen by the Iceland Ambassador's residence to show the landscape of the southwest.

Judy is a retired small animal veterinarian and long time photographer that also prefers outdoor subjects. Owners are active outdoor enthusiasts enjoying bicycling, skiing, and horses.

Judy Deist purchased this house in 1970

Why Judy Deist chose Dillon

This was purchased in Summit County for a perfect mountain house next to great fishing in the Dillon Reservoir and the Blue River. Harold's father was a great fly fisherman and loved the outdoors. The house was just was refurbished. We recently took over managing the house since both are now gone, and are converting it to a vacation rental so the family will also be able to use it when not rented, for all outdoor activities such as skiing and bicycling as well as horseback riding.

What makes this house unique

Full kitchen, well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, spices and other things usually not in rental houses. A king size select comfort bed is in the master bedroom as well as a large flat screen TV.

The living room as a larger TV with HDTV sports stations.

The laundry in also well stocked.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time. The house had everything we needed except for more comfy chairs for relaxing. The linens and beds were great. Maybe a love seat would help compliment the sofa. Loved having the garage.

Great property and owner!

  • 5 of 5

Judy's property was exactly as described and pictured on the site. Nothing was photoshopped and we found no surprises. It was clean inside and out and had everything we needed; tons of extra pillows and blankets as well as a very nicely stocked kitchen. Location is good and there is room for 4 cars in the driveway and two in the garage if you really need to pack the cars in like we did. Judy was available when we had any questions and was very helpful and kind. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Our Worst Vacation Experience Ever

  • 1 of 5

We booked this place for the month of July 2014. The rental description was very misleading. We think the photos were photoshopped since the owner is a photographer. The place was dirty and a mess. We drove from a very long distance and since it was over the 4th of July we were stuck overnight until we could find another place to stay the next day. Would not recommend to anyone. We did not receive any of our money back including the security deposit and cleaning bill. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Very difficult home owner to deal with.

Owner's Response: These were 2 people and a small dog, and they were upset that only 4 people could use the couch. At the web site it states that the home is 1250 square feet, if they had looked at that part they would realize it is a small house. The photos are not Photoshopped, they are wide angle to include what is in the rooms. Please look on the web site and see if you see a "closely cropped lawn" anywhere in my pictures as they mentioned in their complaint. They also complained that there were plastic bags on the curb across the street. (It was trash day) We have had as many as 9 or 10 people stay overnight and they are pleased since they are using the house to sleep in and then as a base for outside activities. I do tell them it is a small house. Their complaint was lodged against us, but the dispute people sided with us since we did not misrepresent anything. The house has a new deck, new windows, both bathrooms are completely redone with new tile, cabinets, and fixtures. There is a new roof, new siding, new garage doors, and a new outside grill. All the kitchen cabinets are new and there is a granite counter top and a new sink. These were in place before these people came. We have the rug professionally cleaned twice a year. There is a Rinnai hot water heater that takes a little time to heat up to start, but will completely cover all the hot water for both showers and everything else. I'm sorry these people were not satisfied but I am not sure what I could do to satisfy them. We did have to clean the house after they stayed since they did use the bed. They arrived and stayed the night of July 1, which was not the 4th as they stated in their comments.

Cozy - as advertised

  • 5 of 5

Very nice & as described - the little things (coffee, Kleenex, firewood, plenty of spare keys come to mind) made this very comfortable. My group of 4 was very pleased & hope to return again.
