COMMENTS FROM GUEST BOOK:
My wife and I came to this quiet and beautiful cottage very weary and in need of rest. We enjoyed leisurely days of reading, cooking, walking, going into Holland etc. The view from our deck was worth the entire trip. We both believe in a personal God who loves and cares for each of us. We believe that every good and perfect gift comes from him. We have been absolutely blessed by his gift of creation, solitude, time together, and this delightful place of refreshment. Our accommodations were perfect. Thanks and blessings.
My family and I came to this very nice cottage. We loved how nice and quiet it was. We loved how nice the beach access was. The sand was so nice and fine. Thank you for the very comfortable and nice it was to stay here.
Thank you I loved the quiet time. I will always come here again.
Thank you for a lovely week. We could not have had a better time anywhere! The cottage and view was wonderful. We will never forget it. We hope to be here someday soon. The hike and beach access were a true treat! We wish you all much success in the future with your rental.
I am the property owner and my name is Sue. You may reach me at 616-581-7695 with any questions.
Newly remodeled in 2013 with new hardwood floors. Brand new tv with internet access. Blue ray player.
You cannot find a better setting in Holland and near by area on Lake Michigan for this price. View of water from everyone in the cottage. It gives you an absolute private setting with everything so near by. Quick walk to access water and State park one house away. Beautiful hiking trails right from the property. Too many things to list.
Private setting, views, access to everything near by.
We had a wonderful season that started with a couple celebrating their honeymoon and ended with a couple being engaged and a few anniversary celebrations in between.
We had an awesome time. My parents really liked the nearby trails. And liked that we were so close to the beach. We really liked downtown and we went their often. The view from the cottage was amazing we could watch the sunset every night! We wanted to do everything because it was so fun. Sadly we didn’t have enough time. I think we all wish that we could live here! This cottage is amazing! Thank you so much for the amazing vacation!!
We just spent a lovely long weekend in Holland at the cottage. It was just as in the photos, with a short walk to the shore. It had everything we needed to cook at home. We sat on the deck and admired the view. A cozy, romantic getaway.
Having never been to Western Michigan, my fiancee were unsure about honeymooning there, especially as we had been considering European destinations like Greece and France. Realizing that resting, relaxing and enjoying one another was most important, we decided to rent this Cottage for a week after our wedding. Second to marrying one another, choosing Holland as our Honeymoon destination, specifically this location, is the BEST decision we've ever made. The property is very well maintained, and has everything you could possibly need (except for food of course, but don't worry: there are MANY delicious restaurants and cafes within close proximity.) The deck is exactly as photographed, and we drank our coffee as the sun rose every morning, and we drank our champagne every night as the sun set. The bed was very comfortable, as was the sofa and small dining area (but you'll spend most your time on the deck if weather allows!) The pathway to the beach was easy to navigate and a short distance to the public beach area. In fact, right in the back yard is an amazing trail that takes you through a beautiful forest and out to the road (if you need a general store/ice cream) or straight to the beach for sun and swimming. We did a hike every single day, because it felt like you were in a classic Disney movie and was so romantic. The neighbors are all quiet, respectful and private. Neither my spouse or I had cell phone coverage, but the wifi was helpful enough for our needs during the trip to communicate with family and friends. (The phone in the cottage didn't work very well for us, but I believe it was an issue with the phone itself, and we notified the owner upon our departure, so I'm sure it's fixed.) In fact, the owners were very responsive to our needs and very accommodating! We recommend taking a day or two to visit Saugatuck/Douglas and/or Grand Haven, and also recommend following the "Antique Trail" on route 31. Neither my spouse or I collect antiques, but the antique malls as well as the shopping in downtown Holland was absolutely charming! Our favorite spot for breakfast was a popular spot on Douglas Road called, Duboers (sp?), and our favorite dinner spot was called Boatworks. Also, you MUST try the Sunday brunch downtown at the Alpin Rose. . . SO YUMMY. There was a television with a blu-ray player, which we only turned on once for 10 minutes during a storm. We cannot wait to rent this cottage again next year! Such a blessing it was discovering it.
A great get-a-way.-quaint cottage with great view of Lake Michigan yet nestled up in the trees for a unique combination of forest and beach. The drive to get to the cottage, through a park with old growth trees, deer, chipmonks, etc, is very scenic. I would especially recommend this as a romantic get-away- privacy yet close to everything. The owners live nearby and are excellent hosts. The cottage has everything you need except your food and a need for relaxation.
We love this cottage! It is wonderful and cozy with a huge deck that has beautiful views of Lake Michigan. It was perfect for the two of us, even though it has two bedrooms and could sleep four. It is peaceful and quiet for a relaxing or romantic getaway but still close enough to various activities like Holland Beach, hiking and biking trails and only minutes from downtown Holland for shopping and some really great restaurants. Or if you choose, the cottage has a kitchen with everything necessary for a home cooked meal or even grilling out on the deck. Sunita, the owner, met us on our arrival and was so nice and helpful. Because of her, our stay was so much more enjoyable. We plan on coming back again and will definitely recommend this cottage to our friends.
My bride and I chose this location for our honeymoon based on the pictures and other reviews. We were not disappointed! The cottage is cozy for two, but could easily accommodate two more. We were there during cool spring weather, but the space heaters kept the place comfortable.
The kitchen is compact but had everything we needed to make gourmet meals, and the Holland area has a great selection of restaurants (Alpen Rose was a favorite). The place was spotlessly clean when we arrived, and the bedding was incredibly comfortable. It was wonderful to wake up and look straight out to the lake without leaving our comfy bed.
On the couple of cold rainy days we had, the DVD player was a great companion (we brought several of our own movies to watch).
Being only steps (literally) from the beach was a wonderful bonus. We enjoyed some leisurely walks down to the pier, with sunset and wave action. Being slightly ahead of the spring season, we had Holland State Park beach almost entirely to ourselves, as secluded as anyone would want.
The owner was helpful with directions (it is a little off the beaten path, and stymied two different GPS systems) and talked us in via cell phone when we got lost.
The only low point was water pressure in the shower, and the owner said they would be looking into that.
Fall is a beautiful time for a visit, the drive from Chicago was in full bloom of colors. When we arrived it had just finished raining and it brought out the smell of the leaves and surrounding woods, the cottage was comfortable, the lake view totally awesome and the lake seem to have its own personally it would change looks sometimes 4 times a day.A walk along its shore was remarkable with the sand being hard packed and easy to walk on, and no crowds. We shopped Saugatuck & Holland, wonderful! restaurants' very good and no waiting. The owner Sunita provided great customer service and was very charming which made our stay in her cottage very comfortable. We will return again and would recommend to friends,
Thank You Sunita!
