SWEET MAINE PERFECTION!
This is my idea of perfect lodging. The simple, comfortable, soothing decor, and the location made our three night stay absolutely better than I had even hoped for.
We were able to buy local cheese, chocolate, and everything we'd need to make a hearty breakfast nearby at the Blue Hill Co-Op, and also the liquor store in Blue Hill that had everything from fishing rods and bait, to new movie releases to home baked whoopie pies.
The kitchen was well appointed and had items that I assume were left for our use in the pantry. We left a few things as well. The kitchen had any pot or pan we could need, as well as a cork screw to open the nice French Cab Franc we purchased at the Blue Hill Wine shop.
We spent time exploring the coast and went looking for our own little piece of Maine paradise to purchase this fall. Although, after staying at Cove Cottage, I'm hoping we put our own purchase off a bit, so we have an excuse to come back to Cove Cottage. Seriously, it was perfect. Great for a family of six, but even better for two parents of four little children who rarely have time to relax. We read at night, rented movies, and in the mornings sat and had coffee (local, 44 coffee) while watching the doe in the yard who seemed to like us too.
I also need to mention the unsung hero of the cottage....the queen bed. My husband and I have a Westin Heavenly Bed at home and are used to a high level of comfort. The bed we stayed in at Cove Cottage was even more comfy than what we're used to. Each night, although very chilly out, we'd leave the windows open so that we could hear the tide coming in (or out?) early in the morning. The down comforter was plenty warm enough and the linens were nice and soft.
Thank you Clifton for a wonderful get away! We appreciate such professional service and your gracious little cottage. I'd like to be put on the list of people to contact if you ever decide to sell!
Many Blessings-
Jen R.
