SUMMER VACATION IN WHITEFISH. WONDERFUL! REEKY LUM!

We were excited as we drove from the main highway to the house. Wondering what we had just rented for 4 days and would it be what we had hoped for. WELL, it was even BETTER than imagined. The house was delightful, clean, and spacious for the 11 of us. The Great room was open and perfect for family gatherings and relaxing, the kitchen better than well stocked with all the gadgets we needed. BUT the unexpected delight was a sledding hill right out the front door!! Perfect size and slope for all the little kids and BIG kids. As I entered the first thing I saw was the plaque with the word Prayer, and our time here was truly Blessed! Thanks for having a Christmas tree up for us to enjoy.

Our family of 6 adults stayed one week at Reeky Lum. The house and location are as beautiful as depicted and described on VBRO. The owners have thought of every last detail to ensure a comfortable and completely outfitted stay. Whitefish is a charming town and a great gateway to Glacier National Park -- every imaginable land and water activity is within a short driving distance -- from whitewater rafting to horse back riding to hiking to swimming, etc. Or, for quieter moments, the deck at the house is a great spot for a good relaxing read. The owner was easy to reach and clearly loves the area and the home. I highly recommend this property and we would hope to rent again for another Montana trip.

Gorgeous property well secluded off the beaten path. Very nicely furnished and decorated extremely well. Serene, restful, deer in the back yard every morning. Lots of wildlife.

Days were very busy with activities in the area - fishing, boating, white-water rafting, hiking, golfing, shopping. Each night we were able to regroup, recharge and had wonderful quiet times together.

Pictures on the website were quite accurate, but still did not do this place justice. Awesome experience. We found everything clean and well maintained.

The manual that the owners put together was extremely helpful and thorough. Please spend the time to read through it on your first evening. For instance, I was scratching my head on the power awning until I took the time to look at the manual - and by God, my confusion was resolved.

Obviously, the owners are very spiritual. Not a bad thing, and not in your face. Be careful - you might come to enjoy the peace of mind. It's contagious.

We found the highway directions were "adequate". Maybe I was just expecting that the highway and roads would be built up more, and more clearly marked. Not a big issue, but future renters should take note that the side road to the rental location is located between mile marker 139 and 140 on Hwy 93, north of Whitefish. Some of Montana's road signs are not that easy to read at 60 mph.

We totally enjoyed the Mackenzie River Pizza restaurant, the marina restaurant at the Whitefish Lodge (where we rented a ski-boat for the afternoon) and an afternoon drive into Glacier National Park on the Going to the Sun Road. Ran out of time, want to try the zip-lining on the mountain. That will have to wait til next time.

Also shopped in both Whitefish and Kalispell. Would recommend Famous Dave's Barbecue in Kalispell. Not high end, but very decent food, good prices, friendly service.

Highly recommend this location to any large group - 3, 4 or more couples. Tons of space, you won't be running into each other, and you won't be bored. Lots of interesting stuff to look at.

We will surely be returning.
