Welcome to The Austinite!
This is a lovely 2/1 that is quintessentially Austin. Tucked away in Barton HIlls, one of Austin’s favorite neighborhoods, this property features an enclosed bamboo garden with an outdoor shower and hot tub. It honestly doesn’t get much cooler.
Then up the stairs to the front deck, which has the feel of a treehouse because you’re at the tops of the 30-foot high bamboo and just beneath the canopy of surrounding trees. There’s two bedrooms, one queen bed and one king.
The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you could want to cook a feast. Basic spices, oil, and all the pots and pans you’d need. There is also a grill on the front deck.
Towels and linens are of course included, with extras available as well. In the bathroom, you’ll find Dove shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Bring some flip flops so you can enjoy the outdoor shower...it’s a great way to start the day!
$160/weeknight, $210 weekend night - $1000/weekly
I'm a life-long Austinite and that is definitely part of the reason I choose to call this property The Austinite!
Jay Reynolds purchased this house in 2013
This property encompasses so much of what makes Austin awesome. You can walk and bike to dozens of restaurants, Zilker Park and The Barton Creek Greenbelt!
The hot tub area is incredible and being so close to S. Lamar is a major plus. Also, we have two other rental units that actually share a driveway so if you have a larger group we can definitely accommodate!
Jay was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was incredibly communicative and accommodating throughout the entire rental process. The duplex was so charming and cool, I wanted to never leave and just live there forever! The hot tub area is a sanctuary. Although I was staying in the city I LIVE IN it felt like I was vacationing a world away. Thank you!
I stayed at The Austinite while traveling to Austin for work. This is such a lovely home, thoughtfully decorated and stocked. In addition to all the things I would expect (pots & pans, towels, laundry facilities & soap, toiletries), there is a really rad record player and records, a nice book collection, a fully-stocked kitchen (including MANY coffee-making devices), fun games, and a book of recommendations for local eateries and activities. When I say 'local' I mean that many are even in walking distance! To cap it all off, this place also has a wonderful, secluded hot tub and out-door shower. I love staying here, and I hope to be able to return soon! I highly recommend VacationCake properties to anyone visiting Austin, but The Austinite is definitely one of my favorites.
Clean, comfortable, well stocked and appointed. Great art and furniture. Hot tub with outdoor shower surrounded by bamboo! Minutes walk or drive to all conveniences. Close to classic Mexican restaurant, Matt's Famous El Rancho. Good food and margaritas there. Will reserve this unit again in the future.
The decorations and accommodations were perfect for our group! We had a great weekend!
My best friend and I stayed at the Ausinite this past weekend for a girls getaway before her wedding. The place is awesome and really does feel like a tree house! The location was amazing...there is a 24 hour cafe, an art gallery and Torchy's Tacos all within walking distance. We took a cab down to 6th street in the evenings (about $11) and had a great time. The hot tub is wonderful and feels extremely private and secluded surrounded by the bamboo. The couch is comfortable and so are the beds. My friend and I plan on going back next year and I plan on staying here when I make a trip up with my husband soon!
Thanks so much, Jay! You made everything so easy during our stay. The place is so peaceful. We needed it after playing softball into the wee evening hours. The hot tub definitely came in handy! We'll be calling you about next year for sure!
The Austinite is located in the heart of Barton Hills, just three miles to downtown and just a few blocks from so many amazing restaurants and fun things to do! First and foremost the Barton Creek Greenbelt: there is a neighborhood entrance just two blocks away! You can hike the day away and never know you're in the middle of a city. It's truly amazing down there.
For food and drink: Kerbey Lane Cafe, Torchy's Taco's Amy's Ice Cream, East Side King, Gourdough's Public House, Bakers St Pub, Thundercloud Subs, Papalote Taco House, and SO many more than are literally just a hop skip and a jump away.
If you're not driving in and not wanting to rent a car, the CapMetro bus lines are fabulous for getting in and around downtown, and there are bus stops less than two blocks away to scoot up Lamar.
There is a great farmers market on Saturday just a 10 minute walk!
If golf is your thing: I used to play professionally (2005-2009 full time) and I still have connections at several great courses. So let me know for sure if you're bringing your clubs and maybe I'll even try to come fill the foursome if I can!
This is a fabulous neighborhood with tons of character and the location is a perfect doorstep to everything that makes Austin what it is.
