Durango House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

This charming, fully furnished home was built in 1908. It is comfortable and relaxing, and the Historic District location could not be more perfect as it is within walking distance to everything downtown Durango has to offer. This non-smoking rental is ideal for one or two couples or even a small family at 800 square feet . The living room is large and cozy with a brand new comfy couch, CD/MP3 player, flat screen TV and DVD. The master bedroom is spacious with a queen size bed, dressers, and walk-in closet.

The bathroom is well-appointed and up to date after a complete renovation. The kitchen is equipped with cooking, dining and table accessories. There is a futon in the sleeping porch that converts to a very comfortable double bed. Walk outside to the stone patio where you can BBQ on the grill or relax with a cup of coffee on the patio furniture. A tall fence offers additional privacy for you to enjoy the solitude and mountain-view. Off-street and on-street parking are available.

Durango is known for outdoor activities and is also home to many fine restaurants. No matter what time of year you are able to visit, you will want to stay longer and return often!

About Stephanie Cameron

My husband and I grew up in the Mid-West, but we love the mountains and have been visiting Colorado together regularly since 1985. As parents of three very active children, Durango has provided our family with a great escape from our busy daily lives, and the opportunity to re-focus on what is important.

Stephanie Cameron purchased this house in 2004

Why Stephanie Cameron chose Durango

After MANY years of looking in and around the Durango area, we finally chose to buy a home downtown because of it's proximity to everything in the community. We have spent time vacationing at both Durango Mountain Resort and at Vallecito Lake. Both locations are attractive destinations, and downtown Durango gives us convenient access to each as well as giving us the added benefit of being part of a very relaxed and connected downtown community. We continue to enjoy giving this experience to our children. It is possible to walk to nearly everything, and we have left the car parked for days during our visits. Added bonus, we are able to eat whatever we want and never gain those dreaded vacation pounds! That's a plus, because of the many fine dining opportunities in town.

What makes this house unique

We continue to enjoy the tall ceilings, the charm, and the history of our place. We have worked hard to stay true to it's architectural heritage when we have made improvements.

As an added note, while we have developed many fond memories in the Durango area, we have also come up with a list of our favorite coffee shops, restaurants, and destinations. If you are interested in suggestions we will be happy to share that list.

Congratulations on your decision to visit Durango. You are in for a treat!

In town for a wedding

  • 5 of 5
We had such a nice time in this charming little home. My husband and I were in town for a family wedding, and we appreciated the location, which was in walking distance to downtown, and the amenities. We took one of the two bikes to a bike shop and had the tire pumped, and we used the bikes to get around town after that! It was so nice to take the trail by the river at a leisurly pace.
The owner was very accommodating. There was no hairdryer, and when I called she brought one over immediately. The A/C ran continuously and the weather was hot, but we were comfortably cool inside. I'm not sure how warm the house would be in winter, but it certainly was charming. We had 10 family members over for lunch. It was a squeeze but we did it, and everyone loved our accommodations. We would certainly stay here again next time we are in Durango.

Wonderful Labor Day Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My family and I just rented this home for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night of Labor Day weekend and it was wonderful!!! There were five of us and we still had plenty of room. It was nice having the house over just a room as we have friends in Durango and they came over and we all were able to hang out in the back yard patio. The distance to Main Street is perfect...definitely walking distance to just about everything downtown. The owners even had shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom which worked out perfect as that was the one thing i forgot!!! Thanks again for getting us in on such short notice...It was PERFECT!!!!!

Excellent

  • 5 of 5
This was a charming house that exceeded my expectations. The back yard is very nice and I was able to have other family members over for a small get together. It is close enough to walk downtown but far enough away that it is very quiet. The house was very clean and had everything we needed and more! I would highly recommend this place. The sleeping porch is fine for one adult or two small kids but it could use a curtain on the small window to reduce the summer heat. The owners have installed a window AC unit so the house is very comfortable. I would stay here again!! My sister paid more for her rental and had problems. She thought this house was a great deal and wished she had found it first.

Owner's Response: It is always enjoyable when we hear that families have gathered in our home. We are happy that you were able to do that! Thanks also for the suggestion regarding a curtain on that small window. I had no idea it was a problem. It will be addressed next month when we are there!

Great House and Downtown Location

  • 5 of 5
We so enjoyed the stay at this quaint home and the convenient location. The owners thought of everything. It's nicely decorated and well appointed. We love the charm of the house with its wood floors, covered front porch and grassy back yard. When we come back to Durango we would be pleased to stay here again.

What a lovely and delightful home!

  • 5 of 5
We recently spent a week at this lovely historic home. Perfect location for a romantic, relaxing get away! The decor is superb - adding to the ambiance that you immediately feel as soon as you enter the home. The owner was so helpful in advising us where we might visit to shop and dine, which were all quite unique. The history in this town is just amazing...definitely will return to Durango and this lovely home which is sparkling clean and very well maintained, which was very important to both of us. Thank you for all your suggestions!
