My husband and I really liked the little apartment. It was a great spot close to the subway and in a safe neighbourhood. It was fairly clean, although others have mentioned the dust, and I will repeat that. The mirrors were a bit streaked, but that was no big deal. My real complaint was with the hot water. It would last about 3 minutes at best, and even then, it never got really hot. That was disappointing after a day of walking around in Manhattan. Also, the noise was quite loud, although what do you expect in Brooklyn? The toilet ran every 30 seconds or so, so we were very glad to have brought earplugs. The bed was very comfortable, no complaints there. Ray was very accomodating with us about our dates and prices, so I was very happy to be working with him. Really the place is perfect with a bit of maintenance and a bit more cleaning.
Perfect little studio apartment in an excellent location. Just about 3 blocks from the subway. Really good breakfast places just around the corner. Felt very safe walking the neighborhood with luggage and my 16 y/o niece, even late at night.
The studio looks exactly as the pictures do. I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned the dust, but that is due to the renovations happening and the fact that its an old home. Old homes tend to be noisy, I would caution any light sleepers about the noise. However, I am not a light sleeper and had NO problems getting a fabulous rest.
The only thing I wish could have been available was some space to hang clothes and set out toiletries. Besides that I would definitely recommend this location and I would not hesitate in staying here again. Before my arrival, I had several questions regarding location and accommodations, etc. and the owner Ray was super helpful and always responded quickly.
Ray is an honest person . I pent some good time with family , and he was There for us when we needed Him .
This apartment in Brooklyn might not be big, but it's big enough for two people who want to explore NYC and have a clean, comfortable and cosy place to come home to at night. It's very close to the subway station and in 3 stops/15 min you're downtown Manhattan. The neighborhood is safe and brownstones in the street are fantastic.
The place is nice & clean (apart from some dust due to construction work) and has abundance of character. The bathroom is spacious and clean and the shower is very good, the ceilings in the whole apartment are very high, the lighting is atmospheric, great shutters at the windows, good working AC-unit (not too loud either) and enough room to roam around.
The downsides (minor): the bed is quite small and not very comfortable, there is no kitchen (there is a small fridge, microwave, water cooker and coffee machine) but it would have been nice to have that a little bit more expanded: we brought our own blender to make a shake in the morning and it was all a bit make-do with space to cut up fruits etc.
Also, there is hardly any space to hang up clothes (a clothing rack with 3 or 4 pegs is not a lot) and in the bathroom there is no space to unpack your toiletries. All of these last issues make for the place to become rather messy even in 2 or 3 days.
Would we stay here again? DEF! This is an apartment that is well maintained (Linda is the nicest person to deal with!), that has character, great location and a fantastic price.
One last point: parking is free in the weekend but during the week apparently some system kicks in, where you have to park on one side of the street or the other - we didn't know (maybe this would be good to tell people upon check-in.....) and we got a $65 ticket. There goes our free parking :(
we are very grateful to ray and his wife, great apt, great location, good quiet neighborhood.
We had everything near.very advisable place in brooklyn
This place is small as apt. go , but compared to a Hotel stay a lot more space and charm. You will enjoy a delightful, warm and charming Brooklyn neighborhood. The transportation is quick and easy. The local flavor is charming as well, great cafe's ,, wine tasting... and some very good restaurant's selections all in the area. Now Raymond fantastic, he was availiable, provided useful information and just a overall delightful guy. The only reason this was not a excellent experience no real kitchen, but come on your in a area with the greatest restaurants in the WORLD. Bottom line $$ was well spent.
