YELLOWSTONE RIVER LODGE- LARGE GROUPS-BOOKING FOR 2011

Gardiner House Rental Photos and Description

Log Lodge/House, 7 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 16)

Our lodge is 4300 square feet, with seven bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a large dining room, full kitchen, large family room with stone fireplace downstairs and a large living room with stone fireplace upstairs. There are 2 decks, one overlooking the Yellowstone River and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We have a very large lawn with shade trees also. It is a good place to relax after a busy day of activities. It is a beautiful and convenient location for visiting Yellowstone Park and the surrounding area. The Park is only 10 minutes away. In addition to seeing Yellowstone, there are many other activities to do and see in the area, such as: horseback riding, hiking, fishing, river rafting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and hunting. All of these activities are available in the nearby upper Yellowstone Valley. This area is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year.

The Unique Benefits at this Log Lodge/House: : Year Purchased: 1989 - Obviously our location to Yellowstone & the size of the lodge are our biggest benefits. There is also world class fishing just out the back door on the legendary Yellowstone river, along with white water rafting. The scenery is awesome, whether you are seeing it from your car, hiking some of the many trails in the area or from the back of a horse while spending the afternoon with one of the many local horseback outfitters. You have all the peace & privacy of being in the country, while also being just minutes from the parks north entrance. The layout of the lodge gives everyone their own space & privacy. We have a deck overlooking the river & large yard with room for the kids to run. We have hosted numerous family reunions in addition to a few weddings. Staying with us you will see first hand why they call Montana the 'Last Best Place.'

Owner Description/Comments:: John and I lived in the Gardiner area for 30 years, raising our family here and working in the outfitting business. We have 6 kids and 9 grand children. In 1996 we sold our outfitting business in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness area near Gardiner and purchased a guide territory in Northern British Columbia. We spent our summers and falls in B.C. for 11 years. In 2006 we sold the guide area and purchased a ranch where we now live raising cattle and wheat. We enjoy spending time with our family, hunting, taking horse pack trips. I also am a avid scrap Booker and quilter.

The lodge was completed in 2001. It is constructed of logs that were harvested locally by John and skidded out with our team of draft horses. They were then hand peeled by our family. We did all of the building ourselves, from pouring the concrete to putting on the roof. John and DruAnn Robidou

Yellowstone Home Away From Home

We recently finished our second stay at this beautiful home. The location is minutes away from the north entrance to Yellowstone Park. It is situated right on the Yellowstone River, and it's great to fall asleep at night listening to the sounds of the river. We had 15 people in our family group - and had plenty of space for all. We really like the fact that there is a lot of room for a large family with enough room to have various activities going on at the same time and not feeling like you're running into each other. The property has always been clean and well-maintained. The photos on the website are accurate, but actually don't do the property justice. It is a beautiful setting and well thought out home. It exceeded our expectations the first time. John and Dru are great to work with and very responsive to anything that we have needed. We have thoroughly enjoyed our times at this home, and we refer to it now as our "Yellowstone home away from home". We highly recommend this property - we will definitely be back next year!

First I'd like to tell that the owner is really nice and she is very helpful & concerned reg visitors and available for any concerns. House is very nice to stay for big group & its really scenic.

We were a group of 18 and enjoyed the stay. Just that people should adjust since there are only 3 bathrooms.

I would recommend it for smaller group due to # of bathrooms.

Otherwise, its awesome!!

Cheers,

Family Reunion headquarters

We used the Lodge as headquarters for a 3 generation family reunion for two weeks. Our family gathered each evening on the large lawn area for children to play and the adults to visit.Three other properties in the Gardiner area were rented by other family members, but this one was perfect as the gathering place.

The spreadout floor plan allowed enough privacy for a good nights sleep, One minor draw back was the two showers, it would be nice to have all three baths with a shower. There are several sitting areas, which we put to good use.

The mostly city children in our family enjoyed watching the goats and cow in the pasture next door. We saw an eagle "fishing" in the river in front of the house and a deer ran from the river to across the road one evening.

Owner was very helpful and friendly. She even provided an introduction to a neighbor teen who was available to child sit for us while we were there. Her recommendations on outfitters were appreciated also. A few minor repair problems were in the works to fix, but nothing that hampered our use or enjoyment of the property.

We would happily return again with a large group.

Plenty of room inside and out. Stayed cool, had plenty of fans, Dru was very attentive. Great place for vacation. We hit Garduner for rafting, horseback riding, and zip lining. Lighthouse for dinner, ice cream at the coffee shop, Lamar valley for early morning animal viewing and off for the entire loop of Yellowstone.

Great Cabin - Excellent Vacation Headquarters

  • 5 of 5

This is a great cabin / vacation rental to use for a group visiting Yellowstone. The cabin was very spacious for our group of 11 people. The grounds are beautiful with the river rushing by just outside the master bedroom window. Although we ate out or in the park most of the days, the kitchen is very well stocked with everything you could ask for to make your meals. The BBQ grill on the patio was a nice touch for grilling in the evenings too. The whole cabin was very clean and inviting. The bathrooms were tidy with plenty of towels for a group much larger than ours. The large living spaces, both upstairs and down, were perfect for relaxing after a long day in the park. The HDTV in the downstairs living area was not used very much, but was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and we had no issues with having hot water in the showers, even after several people had showered before. It was also great to have a washer & dryer available right in our cabin to get some laundry done for the rest of our trip. In conclusion, this cabin was everything that we were hoping for and it really helped make this trip a great vacation. Be sure to catch a meal at the Lighthouse Restaurant (between the cabin and the city of Gardiner). We had a very nice, reasonably priced dinner there on Father's Day. Also, the Wild West Corral Drive In had great burgers and shakes. Check them out too. If you like whitewater rafting, I highly recommend Flying Pig Rafting in Gardiner. They run a great business and will make sure that you have an excellent day on the river. - One last thing, the owner (DruAnn) is a pleasure to work with planning your stay. She was always very quick to answer phone calls and emails and made sure that we had a great trip. Thanks Dru!

Notes:
Winters in the Gardiner area are usually pretty mild. The road through the northern part of Yellowstone to Cooke City is open year-round. This most scenic part of the Park offers unlimited wildlife viewing, particularly of elk, bison and the famous Yellowstone wolves. There is snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the mountains above Gardiner, Cooke City and in the Park. Downhill skiing is also available nearby at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky. We built the lodge ourselves with hand-hewn logs, cut and pulled out with our team of Clydesdale horses from the mountains within site of here. The stones for the fireplaces were picked from nearby fields. The lodge is also available during hunting season. The trail heads in the vicinity offer good elk hunting on the National Forests of the Gardiner area.
