How you like to wake up to the breathtaking view every morning? The Harper House sits atop Miller Mountain overlooking 60 miles of vastness that is the South Carolina Piedmont from a North Carolina home! At night the lights of the neighboring towns are reminiscent of a thousand fireflies in the distance. By day and night the Harper House constantly commands a breathtaking view of her surroundings.
The house has a gourmet kitchen and a breakfast nook. The spacious dining room table seats eight for family meal time. The den has a plush, leather sofa, a fireplace and a large-screen TV with satellite that combine to create a relaxing evening on the mountain. The deck and solarium can be accessed from the kitchen and den. There are 3 bedrooms with a queen-size bed in each and two bathrooms. A large laundry room is convenient to the bedrooms. In the basement there is an additional bedroom and bathroom called the ‘kids zone’. It has two sets of bunk beds too cozy for adults, but perfect for kids!

Flat Rock is 7 miles away and home to North Carolina's State Theatre, the Flat Rock Playhouse and the Carl Sandburg Home. We are just 30 miles from Asheville, the famous Biltmore House and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The area is brimming with outdoor activities like golfing, horseback riding, hiking our National Forests and State Parks and sightseeing.
Saluda can be and is enjoyed 12 months a year. Summers are mild and a great time to bring the kids and discover how much fun you can have in the mountains. Fall combines brisk days and beautiful colors providing a wonderful opportunity for picture-taking. Lots of guests enjoy bringing their families and friends to Saluda for the holidays. Spring is the time when Saluda comes back to life with lots of bulbs and flowers. We have some great gardens and they can viewed by merely strolling through our residential districts. I'm Laura Fields, owner of Mountain Life Realty & Management, Inc. in Saluda. I've lived here for 30 years and been in business on Main Street for that long. I love Saluda and just want to share my home with those who love small mountain towns and warm hospitality.
My family of 5 adults and 2 babies plus a dog recently stayed at the Harper House. It is very conveniently located. It's very near the interstate with easy access to Saluda and Hendersonville. While we were there we visited an apple orchard, a vineyard and downtown Saluda. The location of the house is very secluded and has a great view. It was a great house for those who have young kids and/or dogs.
We recently visited this mountaintop home with our 7 grandchildren! We ALL had a wonderful time. The surrounding nature and the views were beautiful. The accomodations were awesome! The entire family had a great time relaxing in the beautiful and spacious Harper House and enjoying the scenery around the home. Downtown Saluda is very close to the home, so anything you need is only minutes away. Laura went above and beyond the call of duty to be sure we were well taken care of!!! I hope we can return again in the future.
We (6 adults) spent a very comfortable Christmas 2013 at the Harper House and had an amazing experience. The house is very charming and lovely. The pictures really do not tell the whole tale... Imagine yourself lying in a huge full length tub reading a book and overlooking amazing views of the mountains. We saw a specular light show every evening; it was just as thou you were looking out of an airplane window right before landing at night. Every morning, I got early just to watch the sun pop up over the mountain top one more time. The kitchen was fully loaded with everything we needed to make a fine Christmas dinner. The lack of internet was truly a concern for this mega techy clan, however, I barely noticed as we were having so much fun relaxing and enjoying nature plus the Satellite TV was enough to keep us in touch with the world. My husband is a very successful mattress salesman, so it would not be fair for me to comment on the beds, however, being in a queen size bed is great for staying warm, on cold nights. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone interested it will not disappoint! Do yourself a favor and get your food… all your food before going up the mountain.
This home was quite the pleasant surprise! We were told the pics did not do the view justice-boy is that an understatement. This is a lovely, warm mountain home with plenty of ammenitites to make everybody happy! Looking forward to enjoying this lovely mountain retreat again.
