COZY COTTAGE IN THE HEART OF THE HISTORIC DISTRICT!

Beaufort House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3)

This adorable home is a quirky little 2 bedroom 1 bath 1940's cottage located in the heart of Historic Downtown Beaufort. We have completed the addition of a beautiful, private, back yard patio. There is a driveway to the side of the house with room for 1 car. Duke Cottage is adjacent to our other property, Baby Charles, VRBO #282865. In the Spring of 2013 we renovated the Sarah Gibbes Barnwell House ca 1835. She is a 3 BR 3.5 BA beauty, just 1 block from the Waterfront Park! Have a look at VRBO #472201!

From this location, you can easily walk to our gorgeous waterfront park where there are lots of restaurants, galleries, and shops. There are porch swings lining the waterfront and it is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the ‘yacht parade’ on the Beaufort River, which is part of the Intracoastal Waterway. The Point neighborhood, filled with antebellum mansions used in the filming of many movies, is just 4 blocks to the east and a wonderful area for leisurely strolls.

Inside the house there is central AC (and heat), as well as whisper quiet ceiling fans in the living room and both bedrooms. It has a cozy living room with a 40' Sony Bravia flat panel TV, HD cable and a DVD player.

The kitchen is large and bright and has been completely redone with a glass top electric range, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, and a stacked washer/dryer unit. All cabinets and countertops are new, with a deep stainless steel sink and a pull down spray faucet. All new pots, pans, dishes, glassware, flatware, and necessary gadgets are provided - as are small appliances like a coffee maker, toaster, blender, and a hand mixer. The kitchen is also stocked with staples such as salt and pepper, coffee, tea, and sugar - just to name some.

The Dining Room has large windows on 2 walls. The dining table is round glass and seats 4 comfortably. There is a lovely curved metal chandelier for ambience.

The master bedroom has a 2011 Sealy Posturepedic mattress and boxspring with 100% cotton high thread sheets and fluffy new pillows. ****Starting Fall of 2013 (after a month of travel around France) we are switching out all of our Queen bedding to white European Duvet & Shams - there will still be the high thread count sheets, but instead of a dry cleaned bed cover that you have to remove to sleep under, now you will have a freshly washed duvet cover and shams that can be used for sleeping. These are changed between each guest. It's more work, but it as we discovered, it is a better sleeping experience for the guest!

The second bedroom has a single bed with the same mattress, except that it is a twin. We tried having a trundle, but it is too cramped to be comfortable, so the house is limited to 3 guests.

There is one bathroom, and while it isn't large, it is bright and fresh and comes stocked with plenty of 100% cotton fluffy towels. Amenities and a blow dryer are also provided.

The private patio has a dining table with 4 chairs and an umbrella, and 2 chaise lounges and a huge umbrella at the other end. It is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Pets are allowed with prior approval and a refundable deposit. Please let me know what kind and size of pet you wish to bring so we can discuss it's appropriateness!

All you have to bring is you and your clothing - we've got the rest!

After growing up in FL and spending many years in Texas and Arizona - living in the Washington DC Metro area for 22 years was enough COLD weather for us. As soon as our son went to college, John sold his computer business and we headed to Beaufort! Now he focuses his energy on alternative energy and enjoying the outdoors. I still do Hospitality Interior Design for a major hotel chain, but also spend most of my time enjoying this gorgeous area. Our son visits as often as he can, as do our many wonderful friends. Life is good here in Beaufort!

Erica purchased this house in 2009

We bought this little house because it backs up to our other property, VRBO #282865. We love the location and the neighborhood, and we wanted to be able to offer additional accommodations! We also JUST added VRBO #472201 - a spectacular antebellum home we just totally renovated!

Our guests comment that it is a perfect distance to the waterfront and Bay Street. They love being immersed in the history of the area and being able to walk to everything. It is just far enough to be away from all the weekend noise and traffic, yet still in the heart of it!

TERRIFIC LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Everything you need is there! Walkable to town. Cute, cute! Super clean. Owners are terrific. Love that our dogs were so welcomed and that the patio was fully fenced. We hit a number of restaurants
and I think Saltus was the fav! All recommendations were very good. Hunting island is awesome as are the kayak tours!

FELT LIKE HOME

  • 5 of 5
This was the perfect place for us. The location could not have been better. The owners thought of every detail. We arrived in a raging rain storm and it was so nice walking in the front door with the lights on and classical music playing. There was even a welcome box of chocolates that were gone in less than a minute! The cottage is cute as a button and perfect for two or three people. It is spotlessly clean and there is no detail left out. Everything we needed was available for our use. The fenced in back yard was great. There is a Weber grill (which we used) and nice seating for relaxation. There was a binder with helpful information that we used nearly daily. The restaurant recommendations were spot on and I have to say that Beaufort has some top notch establishments. We fell in love with Beaufort (and the people) and hope to return very soon.

CUTE COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
Super cute cottage. It was so nice to arrive to a warm house with all of the lights on, music playing and goodies for us to eat. It was very welcoming and inviting. The backyard was beautiful, private, completely fenced and absolutely perfect for our puppy to play in. It's very close to downtown so you have the option to walk or drive to wonderful restaurants, shopping, etc.

WEEKEND EXPLORATION OF BEAUFORT

  • 5 of 5
Every positive review listed is accurate. It is very easy to see that the owners take great pride in detail, as every single item is in its' place and comfort is the grand theme! Fine linens, towels, and kitchen comforts are the order.Even the restaurant recommendations are to a tee, as we did not find one single place that we found inaccurate. Erica and the great staff she uses are very accommodating and friendly as well. They manage 3 locations, 2 of which we saw, and we were really blown away by the detail and comfort level, and to find that these homes are only a few dollars more than local hotels, makes it a no brainer in the Beaufort area....We WILL return, and may perhaps become neighbors!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5
Lovely little cottage, easily within walking distance to downtown Beaufort. Owners paid attention to the smallest details to be sure our stay was comfortable, including many items we might not think to bring with us, e.g., plenty of papertowels, seran wrap, clotheswash detergent, and a small selection of often-used herbs/spices. There is a nicely designed patio out back of the house, fenced and relatively private - perfect for a late afternoon drink and conversation. Whenever we head back to Beaufort, this will be our first choice of where we stay.

The owners left a notebook chockfull of infromation about thisngs to see and do in Beaufort - rainy days and sunshiny - restaurants, etc. The house was spotlessly clean. The owners left their cellphone numbers writ large on the message board and gave us instructions to contact them anytime we had questions or if something went wrong regarding the cottage. And, they were immediately there the one time we needed them - we screwed up and on/off on the TV and needed a quick tech assist to get back on track..

LAST MINUTE GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
I made a last minute decision to join other family members in Beaufort when I found this listing. After several emails with Erica, she worked her magic and got me in with less than 48 hours notice. What a great place! It was one of the cleanest VRBO rentals I have ever been a guest. The location was perfect for daytrips to Savannah and Charleston and walks into the downtown and bay front areas. Everything I needed was provided. The welcoming brownies were great. Several nice touches made it a real charmer. It was obvious that Erica and Jon have put a lot of heart into making this a jewel in Beaufort. This will be the only place I will stay on any future trips to Beaufort.
