A rare chance to stay in Noe Valley! Noe Valley (Pronounced NO-EEE) is home to both liberals and conservatives, it has attracted the working class, dotcom millionaires, Hollywood film crews ('Sister Act,' 'Nash Bridges'), It's chock full of upscale restaurants, home-decor boutiques, and chic clothing shops. Noe is a prosperous, shopper-friendly neighborhood whose bistros, coffee shops, and bookstores are always lively. The hills that surround Noe Valley give it an air of remoteness and removal from the city which, along with many Victorians, is what attracts families with kids, dogs and strollers to the neighborhood. There are no hotels in Noe Valley so you are sure to have an authentic San Francisco experience.
Our home is a classic Victorian / Edwardian flat with spiral staircase and hard wood floors throughout. It has high ceilings, period lighting & sky lights, picture moulding & bay windows. A working wood burning double sided fireplace gives warmth and romance in the living room and bedroom. Enjoy the upper flat as a couple or as a small family. The flat has a contemporary eat-in kitchen with all the tools for cooking. Or walk two blocks to 24th Street and enjoy the tremendous local restaurants. Noe Valley boasts some of the warmest weather in San Francisco, sometimes 10 degrees warmer than other neighborhoods. Enjoy the sun on our deck or balcony during your stay.
Light-rail trains are just two blocks away and can take you into the heart of San Francisco without the hassle of traffic or parking. The J-line can take you to AT&T Park for $2. It is also a short distance to 101 and 280 to get to/from Silicon Valley. Dolores Park is walking distance and is famous for its picturesque skyline view, perfect for a picnic and frisbee play on the grassy hillside. The newly updated playground is a real treat for kids.
If nightlife is what you are looking for Noe's own Bliss Bar was featured in 'In Style' magazine. The Dubliner also has a great selection of imported beers. It's common to meet a small horde of Irish expats there. Or a short cab ride takes you to nearby Mission District where you can enjoy a Latin swing or over to Potrero Hill to see some of San Francisco's best bands. The Castro is also just over the hill from Noe Valley.

We are two high-tech professionals who live in nearby Silicon Valley but love to spend free time in San Francisco and enjoy the city. We enjoy traveling and exploring new places. We hope to share a little slice of a lesser known San Francisco by listing these flats.
Penelope Thompson purchased this house in 1999
We enjoyed living in the upper flat for years before listing it. We sometimes stay there to remember the lovely time we had living in Noe Valley. We are still great friends with neighbors we met during our time there.
Nothing is more relaxing than waking up, walking 2 blocks to Martha's coffee shop and watching the people, dogs and baby strollers go by. Martha's employee know each regular patron by name. When we bring our young children with us we always stop by Pixie Hall Studios for some artful fun. Eric's Gourmet Chinese restaurant on Church street is always a favorite of ours when dining out. We enjoy the farmer's market where we buy fresh and organic fruits and vegetables. Napa Valley's famous Plump Jack Winery has a shop in our neighborhood where you can get exclusive offers of premium California wines.
We absolutely loved the NOE NOOK FLAT and the surrounding neighborhood and it accommodated our family of 4 nicely. The Style of the place was awesome, being historical in nature but modernized with amenities. The surrounding neighborhood is great for exploring and we felt safe walking around at all times day and night. It was conveniently located to 24th Street where you have a multitude of local businesses including Pubs, Grocery Stores, Eateries, Bakeries, etc. The larger flat on level 3 easily accommodated my wife in the master room and my kids on the futon in the extra room. Theres is a nicely sized central kitchen and then a separate living room with amazing view of the area out a Victorian Style Bay WIndow. If you have a larger group you can get the Level 2 Flat and have the entire Flat. The larger Flat that we stayed in comes with use of the single car garage which for us was great so we could park for 2 days safely and use the public transit system (which we were very close to I might add). The master bed has a double sided fireplace that goes to the Living Room (but enclosed glass buffer on both sides) so if someone is sleeping on sofa in living room or watching tv late you may have a slight compromise of privacy. Not a deal killer but my only criticism was the futon sofa. Once setup it was great but it was extremely hard to setup (and I am an Architect and supposed to be able to do these kinda things). If it would have been setup upon our arrival it would have made life a little easier as we almost had to call the property owner (and it was late at night). I would definitely come back to this place in future and maybe get the entire place next time! Thanks for the memories!
We had the 1 and 2 bedrooms place. The owners were very accommodating. Close to the J train and 24th street. Lots of restaurants. I would recommend this place and stay there again.
I stayed at this flat last week and I am thoroughly impressed. The flat is is in a charming area of San Franicsco. The flat is updated and very clean. I will definitely stay at this place again.
The words that came to me when I first saw the Noe Flat were dilapidation and neglect. In the living room, a picture of a map rested on the floor propped up by two chairs on either side and two bare picture hooks on the wall above it. Above the sink was a broken plastic paper towel holder, and French press coffee maker was missing parts, the curtains in the second bed-room (just enough room for one pull-out coach opened) were stained, outside was a small baloney, after opening a sliding door and broken screen door, I found two plastic chairs and two dead plants. In the second bedroom, there was a sky light without any covering so each day I awoke to the rising sun at 6:00 am. There was no dresser in either bedroom to put away clothes, the pillows were cheap and lumpy, and the sheets and blankets worn and some stained. On days that reached 75 degrees or higher, the flat became hot and stuffy. The owner did offer to reimburse me for a fan which helped considerably. The downstairs apartment was being worked on while we were there so there was a lot of construction noise during the day. The internet worked intermittently, which precluded streaming a film.
The best aspect of this rental is its location in a wonderful neighborhood with excellent restaurants, a farmer’s market on Saturdays, and food shops. If you have a car, there is a parking place right in front of the flat. Restaurants we enjoyed included La Boulange (pastries, coffee), Bernie’s Coffee Shop, Eric’s (Chinese), Hamano Sushi, and less than a mile away Bi-Rite ice-cream on 18th. If you are a runner or a walker, if you turn right on Sanchez, up the hill, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view.
In nice location, great neighborhood. Owner responds quickly to questions. NIce space with large kitchen and comfortable beds. Great place for families especially when you need 3 beds. Parking was difficult and would be nice to be able to pull in garage but could tell they were remodeling so that should not be an issue soon. For people that know nothing about where they are , you need to do research on how to get to various places from this location such as Fisherman's Wharf. Lovely people in neighborhood were so helpful in pointing us in the right directions.
My mom, daughter and I stayed for 2 nights and couldn't have been happier with the flat. There's nothing you need that isn't there---there were lots of towels, pillows, sheets, blankets, cooking utensils, dishes, silverware and on and on....The flat is even prettier than in the pictures and exactly as described in the listing--bright, comfortable, clean....The location is perfect, the neighborhood is safe and everything you could want to see/do/buy is within walking distance. The owners are incredibly accommodating and helpful--I called Penelope when I had a question and she took care of it within minutes. We couldn't have been happier and will definitely be staying there again the next time we're in S.F.
