About The Owner

Growing up my family spent some vacation time in Halifax. As an adult I was lucky enough to rediscover the glories of the Maritimes, the rugged coast, the quiet beauty, the friendly people. In Cove Cottage I have tried to create an environment for family and friends to come together, reconnect, relax and rest. It is my home and heart and I love sharing it with others.

The Owner purchased this house in 1998

The Best Kept Secret In Nova Scotia! Deep water cove for overnighting boats too!

5 of 5
Submitted: November 6, 2010 Stayed: August 2009
Tucked away on a private peninsula perched on the North Atlantic, surrounded by breathtaking vistas of offshore islands, the sounds of gulls cackling and water slapping boat hulls, this place is the best kept secret in Nova Scotia! The house is really large with plenty of room for a multi-generational family reunion or a retreat for a small group. The house is located on a deep water secluded cove, a perfect stop for parties sailing up the Nova Scotia Maritime coast. The furnishings are comfy, the upstairs is huge with 5 bedrooms and lots of sleeping options and everything is new and spanking clean.
My daughter and several friends and I visited for two weeks in the late summer and this place met everyone's needs for fun and relaxation. We spent mornings drinking our coffee on the expansive front porch watching as the morning mist burned off the cove to reveal the vista of islands on sparkling waters. So much fun to see that a sailboat had pulled into the cove during the night while we slept and waited for the sun to come up to leave again on its journey up the coast of Nova Scotia. The days were spent exploring the small local towns, hiking the trails at Taylor head and Liscomb Lodge, taking day trips up the coastal highway, shopping for antiques and local folkart. Afternoons were great for kayaking in the cove and harbor and picking mussels at the dock to steam with some wine and herbs for dinner.
Really, really special. A place we will return to again and again!

A Perfect Get a Way

My husband and I have enjoyed staying at this property several times and during all four seasons. Each visit has been totally relaxing. We love watching the various forms of wildlife in the cove in front of the house. Morning coffee in the bright sunroom off the kitchen is a wonderful time to plan the days outing. Taylor Head beach is perfect for swimming in either high or low tide and is quite safe for little ones. The trails in this Provincial Park are great sources of exercise. More than anything, the warmth of decor and the sense of coziness the house provides make for a truly relaxing get a way from the usual hectic pace of life. A visit to the Henley Pub and Restaurant is a must for a lunch or dinner out.

Good Time at Cove Cottage

5 of 5
Submitted: November 3, 2010 Stayed: July 2009
I have had the distinct pleasure of spending time at Cove Cottage on two occasions - both times during the summer months - I hope to at some point have the opportunity to schedule a winter trip as it just must be magnificent. A full moon over the North Atlantic is a sight to behold. The property is very well-maintained - the house itself is less than ten years old and features all kinds of wonderful amenities that make it feel like a real home away from home. The surroundings are nothing short of gorgeous, some of the nicest folks I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and no shortage of things to do, places to go and adventures to be had. This is a perfect spot for a family reunion, a girls trip away, a corporate retreat - it is cozy enough for 4 people to feel right at home but large enough to accommodate a large group quite comfortably. It is obvious upon opening the front door that this property is well loved and that many happy times have occurred there. If this cottage had arms it would throw them wide open upon your arrival and give you a hug! I look forward to returning to Cove Cottage, harvesting some muscles, rocking on the porch, sipping my morning coffee in the sun room, playing charades in the Living Room, laughing around the dining room table and continuing my explorations of a stunning part of the world.
