Overview

Poipu Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4), Beach, Turtles

(Secure online credit card payment available via PPI/PayPros through us directly. The same folks VRBO/HomeAway used. No sign-up or membership required.)

Spectacular ocean views, warm hawaiian decor with Koa wood and etched glass and Hawaiian art, and walking directly out to the ocean from the lanai make 106 is the "best of the best" Kuhio Shores offers.

Why settle for less direct access to the beach? Where else are you going to find the ocean at such a great price with all the comforts of home?

Located steps from the beach, Kuhio Shores provides snorkeling, scuba, surfing, swimming, sunning, and beachcombing without having to get in your car or even cross the street. You are five minutes away from famous Po'ipu Beach and old Koloa town; with excellent shopping and restaurants in walking distance.

Kuhio Shores 106 is a great location! This one bedroom, one bath, unit will be your home away from home.

Our condo is distinctive with its beautiful native artwork, shell collections, hand-crafted woodwork, etched glass and mirrors, Hawaiian style decor with a Hawaiian CD mix that provides you with a relaxing environment inducing the aloha spirit. Our condo takes you back to the time when the tropics were truly a remote adventure.

Open the windows and listen to the ocean waves lull you to sleep.

Ho'ai bay, right off the lanai, is known as some of the best snorkeling on Kauai. Snorkel with the turtles and the colorful tropical fish, just steps away from the lanai (watch the video above, snorkeling with the turtles off the condo).

From the lanai you can enjoy the view across to the Ha'upu mountain range, or the sunrise on the bay, or looking out onto the ocean, watching the waves, sailing ships, dolphins jumping, or whales breaching in the distance, and the near constant stream of turtles that come within 20' of your feet to the edge of the bay to feed... all relaxing from your lounge on the lanai, sipping your morning coffee.

The lanai faces East, so the lanai is shaded from the afternoon sun, and the ocean trade winds from the East keep the condo nice and cool year round.

We're on the first floor, so you're not confined to an upper floor where the elevator or stairs (and a walk through the parking lot) are necessary to get to the beach. From our lanai, you can spread-out onto the immaculately kept lawn and enjoy unconfined beach access.

Kuhio Shores 106 provides the following amenities:

o Ground floor for easy beach access

o Netflix on-demand streaming video

o King bed in the bedroom

o Queen hide-a-bed in the living room

o Fully Equipped kitchen with Kashmir granite counter tops

o Plantation shutters across the lanai for privacy with ocean sounds and breeze

o Koa wood shutters in the bedroom

o Hawaiian style decor with etched art designed mirrors and glass

o Double shower head

o High speed internet access

o Telephones for local and toll free calls

o Stereo and CD player with built in wall speakers

o Two cable TVs one with VCR/DVD combo, one with DVD/Blu-Ray player

o Movie, CD, and Book collection

o Beach gear (ice chest, boogie board, beach chairs and mats, beach towels, and umbrella)

o Shared washer and dryer on every floor

o Shared, well-kept, barbeque grills

About Chris and Becky

Chris & Becky Worley enjoy relaxing on the lanai and snorkeling in the bay.

Chris and Becky purchased this condo in 2010

Why Chris and Becky chose Poipu

We Love Kauai. Kauai offers all the benefits of a Hawaii without feeling overwhelmed by tourists. I spent a few years living in a rural area in the tropics in the 60's... and Kauai reminds me so much of the way things were back then (of course, with WiFi).

The island has many micro-climates, from jungle to desert; this is the dry side. It is common for the entire island to be engulfed in rain, and just as you reach Koloa, the rain subsides.

Kuhio Shores is right on the beach; you can't build this close anymore. There's a reef ~200yds. out where the waves break, so the water is normally tranquil by the condo.

We've never looked at renting the condo strictly as a business; it's for our fun and our guests fun. The greatest reward we get is in helping our guests have the best possible vacation. It sounds 'sappy' but it's true: it's been our most intangibly rewarding venture, and we love doing it.

One additional benefit has been the best, most diligent and hard-working housekeeper imaginable!

What makes this condo unique

Beach House beach is most popular on the West side of the building, in front of the Beach House restaurant (where the best surfing is). Our East side of the building faces Ho'ai bay with privacy and a small patch of beach that attracts the turtles and not the tourists. There are only 8 ground-level units on this side of the building which provides privacy. If you want to see and be seen, then the beach on the West side of the building is only a short walk.

The condo faces east for the sunrise. There is a year-round ocean breeze coming from the east, providing nearly constant flow-through ventilation.

Inside the unit, the wood and art remind me of the tropics back in the 60's... so I'm a throw-back for nostalgia in this respect. It adds to the sense that you're on a remote rural island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kuhio Shores 106 is a marvelous home away from home.

Chris & Becky are wonderful to work with. Chris is very responsive to inquiries and the information packet for the condo is complete and clearly written. The entire booking, payment [online payment, directly through the owner] and check-in/check-out process was very smooth.

The condo location cannot be beat. It is steps from the cove, so the sound of the surf is a constant. Very relaxing. The east-facing lanai is a great place to watch the sunrise and is very comfortable in the afternoon since it does not get the intense afternoon sun. The condo is nicely sized for two people, meticulously maintained and very nicely furnished and decorated. The bed was comfortable as were the living room chairs and couch. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook.

We are very much looking forward to a return visit.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was perfect for my husband and I and our two girls. We love being on the ground floor for easy access to grass. We saw many turtles on our trip! The condo was clean and had many extras that were great, such as boogie boards, beach chairs and cooler! We used the BBQ area a couple times and enjoyed being able to make a quick meal at "home." The owner, Chris, was very helpful and responsive to all our questions. We would definitely stay there again!

We didn't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted a warm winter and rented Chris and Becky's unit right

On Turtle Cove! We stayed 1 month in the unit. We thought we would travel around

See all the sites, but couldn't find a reason to leave! We loved watching the turtles

Come and feed right from the lanai. Chris has a great library right in the unit,

my husband was determined to read as many as he could! The unit is very well

Equipped with all you would need for an extended stay and Chris is readily available.

For some reason he sent us gift certificate to the Beac House Restaurant! Our

Favorite sunset watering hole! Comfy beds and pillows too! Highly recommend it!

Fantastic Poipu Accommodation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Chris and Becky's condo during our brief stay in Kauai, and if we could have known how much we would love it we would have booked for much longer! The condo itself is right on the water and we loved seeing the sea turtles swim up to the rocks for their daily meal (we named them Terrence, Trudy and Tahlia) and snorkeled with them during our last day. Waking up to that spectacular view was quite a treat. The location is close to a great selection of restaurants and an organic market (acai bowls, coffee, breakfast, lunch, produce), although we made the mistake of walking to dinner one night not realizing that the lack of street lights would make it a somewhat precarious walk back home. We enjoyed swimming at the beach near the Sheraton, it was calm and very clear, although we also drove across the island to hike the Napali trail and enjoyed swimming at Ke'e beach too. We really appreciated having access to snorkel gear and beach towels, and the fruit basket in the fridge upon our arrival was a lovely touch. One thing that really stood out to me was how helpful Chris was as we were planning our trip, nothing seemed to be a hassle for him (from questions to Helicopter tours, restaurant reviews and late check-in times). We can highly recommend staying here and will absolutely return soon.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

What a great condo! We were just a few steps from the water and enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the evening and watching the sea turtles. The condo was clean and well appointed. Beautiful! Chris and Becky, the owners, were fabulous to work with. They gave us suggestions on places to eat, things to see and do, and even details of where to find everything was located in the condo so we didn't have to search for things. They welcomed us with a nice gift basket filled with local fruit, coffee and cookies. They thought of everything. Another plus was that the sun sets on the other side of the condo so you get the cool evening shade. I am so glad we chose this condo. Perfect!

An Incredible Place All Around!

  • 5 of 5

This place totally exceeded my expectation, better than what the pictures showed. You really have to be there to get a complete experience, the ocean breeze and the sound were so soothing! I have traveled many places and this truly was the one that I didn't feel like going anywhere but staying put! Surfing and snorkeling were as simple as stepping out side of the condo. The best thing was watching the turtles from the lanai. We have gotten great pictures of turtles sticking their heads above the water. The condo was so well-maintained and everything was done perfectly. You can tell the owner has put in lots thoughts to make their guests comfortable. There were also some extra amenities that we didn't expect but glad they were available: cooler, beach chairs, insulated bags, snorkel gears, etc. Chris was always so prompt in answering our questions, you have to wonder if he ever sleeps. He would send us Google maps with step by step directions for the places we wanted to visit, better than a hotel concierge. I would definitely recommend this place without hesitation!

May in paradise

  • 5 of 5

One of the best facilities on the island. Watch the sunrise from the lanai, walk around the corner to watch it set. The owners contacted us upon arrival to make sure everything was to our liking, which it was. Answered a few questions we had without hesitation.

For a first time visitor, the information packet is very useful. Have been coming to Kauai for 40+ years and this is as good as it gets besides having your own.

Can't wait until next years visit.
