About the Owners of The Fairplay Chalet:: The Fairplay Chalet is a dream come true for two professionals who longed for a peaceful and relaxing weekend getaway close to great ski resorts, hiking and fishing yet within easy driving distance from the Denver Metro area. After searching hundreds of properties in Summit and Park Counties, the owners purchased land in South Park and set out to build their dream cabin in the mountains, which they finished themselves in 2008.
The fruits of this laborious effort - an aesthetically appealing mountain retreat that is too good not to share with others. The large deck is great for sipping morning coffee and bird watching. In the evening, relax by one of two fireplaces with a cup of hot cocoa. Read a book in the Loft Library. Play foosball, shuffleboard, darts or watch a movie. After relaxing in the cabin, step outside to enjoy numerous activities in winter and summer from snowshoeing and sledding out the back door to hiking 14ers and fishing gold medal waters just minutes away.

The towns of Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne and Keystone are all within a 30-55 minute drive offering fine dining, mountain shops, and all of the above mentioned outdoor activities.

We highly recommend the Fairplay Chalet. This beautiful cabin in the mountains is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty. Shannon thought of everything you would need during your stay. We loved returning to the cabin each day after skiing to cook dinner, play games and just enjoy being in such a beautiful place. My husband and I, along with 2 other a couples, stayed 4 nights completely comfortable with plenty of space for all. The chalet truly feels like a retreat. We would love to return in the summer time.
My husband and I stayed at this cabin for our honeymoon and loved every detail! I loved the soaking tub and fireplace in the upstairs bathroom! There isn't one thing I would change....Tim and Shannon thought of everything! Thank you!!!
Spent 7 incredible days in this lovely mountain home, tucked off the beaten track in the Mosquito Range. The home was very well maintained, the décor tastefully done and the amenities were thorough, we did not have to purchase anything extra to settle in or cook. Shannon provided prompt and friendly response to our questions. We spent most of the week hiking, including completing our first 14ers (Quandary & Democrat). The scenery in this area is stunning. I would highly recommend the Fairplay Chalet for anyone looking for a beautiful retreat at elevation. I would also recommend acclimating for at least a day before arriving.
Even if your expectations are high (as ours were) they almost certainly will be exceeded by this home. This involves more than just the house itself. It's true that the home is beautifully and comfortably designed, furnished, equipped, and maintained - but the courtesy and responsiveness of the owners was unmatched in our 8 years of vacation rentals in the Fairplay area. An additional bonus is that the written instructions for everything you need to know are uncommonly thorough, including how to work the satellite TV, which is usually a frustration for me (I don't think I'm alone here). There's also a great rundown of things to do in the area. My hope is that this property is well-respected by vacation renters so that the owners keep it on the vacation rental market. What a pleasure it was. I'd recommend it to anyone and certainly rent it again. Thank you Shannon !
We have been coming out to the Fairplay area for close to 20 years and each year we rent a cabin. This cabin was by far the best we've stayed at. Everything about it was awesome. I could go on and on about everything we loved, but to keep this short, there wasn't anything we didn't love. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone, and will be renting from this owner again. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us.
This home is perfect!!! The pictures do not do it justice. There is absolutely no reason as to why you would not want to stay here. My family immediately felt comfortable the minute we walked in the home. My boys (5&8) had the best time sleeping in the loft staring at the stars. We saw plenty of shooting stars!
The deck was perfect for morning coffee as well as dinner. The squirrels and birds were very entertaining! We saw Moose just down the road twice! As I said, this home is perfect in every way!!!!!!
My family stayed here for a week between Christmas and New Year's Day to let our kids see and play in 'real' snow and mountains (we live in Dallas). We have two kids - five and two. This cabin was exactly what we hoped it would be. The location is ideal for what we were looking for; wooded enough that it is hard to see other cabins to allow for privacy, yet plenty of other cabins in the area so that you do not feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. There is nice, large grocery store within 10-15 minutes and it took us about 45 minutes to get to and from Breckenridge. I would not stay here in winter without four wheel drive as the road leading to the cabin is sometimes steep, but we had no issues with access and the snow covered road winding through the trees was so nice that we recorded it on video one morning.
Pictures do not do the interior of the cabin justice. Very well decorated with quality furniture. I have stayed in other cabins (not in Colorado) that have been minimally decorated with cheap furniture and the feel of this cabin is completely different than those. It is as comfortable (aesthetically and physically) as my own residence. The top floor accommodated my wife and me in one room with our kids in the room just across the open hallway. The main floor and basement could have easily accommodated a second family (which we originally planned but their work schedule did not permit). There is a full bathroom on each level, which is very convenient. The kitchen and living areas are all open and together to make cooking, eating, and watching TV easy for the family to do together.
Highly recommended - I can't think of a reason not to stay here.
