Overview

Islamorada House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, sleeps 6, ocean views from all 4 balconies, optional dock

This magnificent home with ocean views from all 4 balconies is located in Islamorada at Mile Marker 85 in the exclusive gated community of Angler's Reef, a quiet oceanfront community in the Florida Keys. Anglers Reef is a boutique complex of 52 homes inspired by Native Conch & British West Indies architecture. Quaint streets & walking paths wind through this village-styled retreat. Amenities include a community pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and 500ft of private beach. The home's boat slip is available for rent with a deep channel out to the Atlantic ($200/week). Or launch your kayak from the private beach (kayak rentals available for drop-off). Built in 2007, this home has 2 bedrooms located on the 2nd floor, each having a private porch with an ocean view, and has 2 more porches downstairs with ocean views for morning coffee or cocktails. Homes decor includes stainless appliances, granite counters, Brazilian wood floors, 3 flat screen TVs with cable including HBO & WiFi

Parks in Islamorada, Village of Islands: Just 2 miles north is Islamorada Founders Park at MM 87 Bayside, which offers activity or relaxation for the whole family. An Olympic-sized pool with diving area, a shallow water beach, water sports rentals, ball fields, fishing jetty, bocce, tennis and basketball courts, vita course with 18 exercise stations, multi-purpose path, skate park and dog park all are within the 40-acre park. Fees may apply. Village municipal parks also include the Islamorada Library Beach and Anne’s Beach. There is the Windley Key State Geological Site, a state park, at the site of a former coral rock quarry. In addition to shady walks through unique foliage, fossils of sea creatures can be seen throughout the park. A free guidebook is available at the visitors center for use during your stay in the park. Islamorada also offers an 18-mile bicycle path that extends the length of the Village.

Scuba/Snorkel! : Islamorada, long recognized as the 'Sport Fishing Capital of the World,' is now an icon among sport divers for a similar reason: a massive population of tropical marine life. High profile coral heads and broad ledges shelter huge congregates of French grunt and goat fish, while regal queen angelfish casually graze amid the reef recesses. Friendly green moray eels swim freely along the spur-and-groove channels, and reclusive nurse sharks lurk beneath the overhangs. Islamorada offers a wide variety of shallow coral reefs, mini walls, shipwrecks, and even an underwater habitat for scientific research, the Aquarius. To learn more about Islamorada or any other manner of local lore, stop by the Chamber of Commerce at MM 82.5.

*The Eagle - This 287 ft ship was intentionally sunk in 110 ft of water as a dive attraction, cloaked in sponge & coral, populated by grunt, harpoon & jack. *Davis Reef - Reef revered for its incredible concentration of grunts & schoolmaster snapper, as well as several amiable resident green morays, long accustomed to benign interaction with the dive masters. *Alligator Reef - Now marked by a 136-ft-tall lighthouse, on this spot in 1822 the USS Alligator grounded & sank while protecting a convoy from pirates; remains of the wreck are the twin piles of ballast stones, but the coral reef - in just 25 ft of water - is vibrant and alive. *Conch Wall - Offering a precipitous sloping wall & captivating concentrations of barrel sponge & gorgonia punctuating seafloor. *Crocker Wall - A 450+-foot-long wall in 50 ft of water. The wall has a 30 ft decline and features grunts, yellow tail &grouper with spur-and-groove coral & block coral.

*Pickles Reef - Reef's minutia in 15-25 ft of water.

About Scott Ofstein

We love the Keys! We purchased our home back in 2009 and loved it so much we bought a second home right next door (HomeAway #3000700) My wife and I have 2 girls ages 14 and 11 and they also love the Keys. They love boating, fishing, paddle boarding, snorkeling, kayaking, biking and just hanging out at the Keys famous sandbars. Islamorada is an amazing Island and in my opinion the best location in the Florida Keys! You can't go wrong!

Awesome community, great stay!

This is the second time my family has rented Scott's Angler's Reef home. It has everything you need for a very comfortable stay as well as a lovely front porch to enjoy a glass of wine while looking out at the ocean. Both queen beds are Tempur-pedic and are extremely comfortable, a nice upgraded touch. Angler's Reef is a rare gem with a security gate, large heated pool with lounges, dockage, and two sandy beaches appointed with adirondack chairs. Scott is very accommdating, all in all he's been a pleasure to deal with. We will be back! Thanks Scott.

My new 2nd home

  • 5 of 5

When Scott assured us we would be satisfied I had no idea. We made this visit with some long-time friends who we hadn't seen in about 10 yrs. One of the things I was looking for is a setup with basically 2 Masters and that's exactly what 121 was. The house itself was beautiful and contained everything we would need for a great vacation. I love the Islamorada area as it is far enough down the Keys to be really quiet yet not to far from the mainland if you want. Bars and eating places are at your service within a few minutes each way Security was excellent so nothing to worry about there. Cable TV(A must for us in Football season), great porches and decks to relax. Used the pool 3 days and the beach, it was perfect. So quiet there we felt like we were almost alone. We are starting to plan our return trip as this moment. Thanks Scott and Anglers Reef

The layout of the area was very enjoyable.

  • 4 of 5

The overall layout of the property was pretty cool, having young kids the safety factor at this location is really good. The boat slips are easy and the swimming pool is great. The house itself was clean and enjoyable. See no reason we will not want to stay here on our next trip to the keys.

Great vacation, great house, great owner!

  • 5 of 5

We did a 4 weeks tour in Florida (Siesta Key, Naples, Miami, Islamorada, Cocoa Beach and Orlando), Islamorada was the favorite destination of the whole family. We loved Angler's Reef, as it is just a small community, built and decorated in a very charming way and all the people we met were really nice. We also really liked the house, it is very well equipped, the beds are totally comfortable, no detail has been overlooked, it is so much better than staying in an impersonal hotel. Scott writes service with a capital S: it started from the moment I sent him the first email (he answered all correspondences in record time), the fact that he wants to be contacted upon arrival (he really wants to be sure that you have a perfect stay), all little extras the house is equipped with (salt, pepper, lots of different spices, liquid soap, coffee and tea for the first days, name anything you need at home and this house has it), plus the bathroom starter set (bigger than what you get in a 5 star hotel), to the very fast return of our deposit. It actually felt if we were staying in the house of a friend, not of a stranger. Make sure you visit the Turtle Hospital, swim with the dolphins either in Islamorada or Key Largo, go to the Dry Tortugas with the water plane (expensive but well worth the money), go fishing and eat Key lime pie. We also did a family photo session with Jannette de Llanos who makes great pics. Thank you Scott for contributing to the fantastic holidays we had, we will recommend this house to all our Swiss and Dutch family and friends and hope one day we will return! Kind regards, the Schönhaar family

The Angler's Reef Gem

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been staying in another home in Angler's Reef for the past four years. When we found Scott's property we were really intrigued by the location on the property itself and the views it would have from the balconies. We were thrilled when we arrived. It is beautifully decorated and the kitchen is well stocked with all of the necessities (including spices, cooking spray and miscellaneous condiments). It really means a lot to not have to think about the little things when going grocery shopping. I was so happy when we entered our bedroom (we stayed in the smaller room but it's not small at all) and opened the door to the beautifully furnished balcony. We were able to have coffee out there each morning to watch the sea and the birds. The bed was SO comfortable, we have a tempurpedic at home and I was in awe that this room had one. The house was immaculate. There were plenty of towels for our use and they provided shampoo, conditioner and soap which might sound like a small thing but it shows how much Scott appreciates and cares about his guests. As other reviewers have noted I got to speak with Scott upon our arrival and it was so nice to know that he cared that we got there safely and wanted to make sure that everything was as we hoped. We rented a boat during our stay and it was the best to be able to walk 30 feet to the boat slip and set out to sea for the day. I really can't say enough about this beautiful home, it is a complete gem. I went as far as to purchase a replica of the lobster trap frame of Alligator Lighthouse for my office to remind me of what a great time we had there. 121 is truly a gem and we felt right at home. Thank you Scott, my family and I were able to make everlasting memories that we will treasure forever. We hope to return next year!

Islamorada is located in the Upper Keys, about halfway between Miami and Key West. Nicknamed the Sport Fishing Capital of the World and known to have the best restaurants in the Keys, there is much to do in, under, above or near the waters surrounding Islamorada. In the water... you can boat, kayak, para sail, jet ski, snorkel, dive or even cruise out to the Alligator Reef Lighthouse or to Barnacle Bobs at the Tiki sandbar for a burger in the middle of the ocean. You can also swim with dolphins, sea lions and sea rays at Theater of the Sea (less than a mile south). Or if you have had enough water, check out the local parks, pampering spas, exclusive shops and a large array of amazing restaurants. Be sure to catch a sunset from the many restaurants or bars along the gulf side. And if it's a full moon, adults may want to head over to Morada Bay & Pierre's for their famous Full Moon Parties, beach parties with bonfires in the sand, specialty drinks and live entertainment (covers apply).
