Our trip was perfect, the house accommodated all of us. The neighbors were all nice. We will be coming back!
We stayed during Spring Break with a 9 year old and 6 year old. We fished in the area several days and had pretty good luck. We visited family at the State Park and had a wonderful time. It was only 5 minutes away and has all the amenities you could ask of a State Park..fishing dock, swim area, fire pits, gazebos, boat launch, canoe rental, kid's play ground. All of the children enjoyed the hiking trails and making s'mores at the state park. The two children staying with us at the cabin enjoyed riding bikes in the neighborhood and I felt very safe letting them do this. We caught (and released) a turtle, saw alligators, and identified many birds in the area. It was not warm enough to swim and I would not have felt comfortable anyway because there are DEFINITELY alligators near this cabin. I am not experienced with them, so we watched them cautiously from the dock. It was quiet and peaceful and the trip was enjoyed by all of us. The cabin was spacious and had everything we needed for our four day stay. There was a nice selection of kid's DVDs so we watched one each night and bundled up with blankets and popcorn. The cabin reminded me of my childhood days at our fishing camp on the Black Warrior River.
My wife and I are in our late 30's and needed a break from the everyday stresses of life and work. This place was perfect because it is located in a very quiet, non-commercialized, location on Lake Seminole. The house is very large and accomodating and we had much more room that could have hosted more of our family. I'm a bass fisherman and took out everyday before light from the boat dock located at the property. The owner's parents are local neighbors and very accomodating if you need anything. Found out the local Lake Seminole Country Market-(just a few minutes away) hand-cuts select grade Ribeyes-we gave them a try and they were great on the grill. Donalsonville is within fifteen minutes and the Piggly Wiggly there stocks about anything you need. Great place, great neighbors, and much needed time off work during the Fourth of July holiday. We have stayed at many rental properties around the lake and this area is by far "THE BEST".
This home is perfect for a large family or a couple of families. There is plenty of bedding and it is comfortable. The home is located on the water and we were able to dock our boat right outside the back door. Great fish cleaning station and we even had a huge fish fry while we were there. The neighborhood is safe and well-kept. My family will definitely stay again in the near future. The owner was very friendly and helpful when making the reservation and everything is as stated on the website.
We had a very quiet and relaxing weekend at this cute rental in donaldsonville. The location was great: great view of the water, spacious yard, and we loved sitting on the dock. Sunroom was perfect for reading or taking a nap. Very clean and tidy. Comfy bed and very large main bathroom. Also listening to the rain against the tin porch roof was very romantic. Looking foreword to future visits. (p.s. perfect for boat or kayak owners)
The home is beautiful and had plenty of room for our bunch. The setting, on the inlet, was so serene, it was the most peaceful and refreshing trip we have had in quite a while. We were scared about no cable but we had taken the xbox and they had plenty of movies to watch. We never felt bored and never heard the kids say, "There's nothing to do." Being able to have the dog was a major plus. He is one of the kids. The house is well laid out and we never felt cramped or like we were tripping over each other. The kids would have liked to have seen more and bigger aligators but the two little ones we saw were plenty. We don't have a boat, but this place is laid out perfect for anyone who does. We will be staying here in the future!
