Lovely peaceful holiday villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa was lovely, clean and had a well fitted out kitchen with a full size cooker with oven, a washing machine and tumble dryer and a large fridge/freezer which dispensed ice. Washing liquid etc were supplied. The villa had its own patio with chairs and table, and the access to the dock and sea outside were easy so we could swim and snorkel. The owner was helpful and informative giving us useful information about shops and local attractions. We had a really good holiday and a very restful Christmas and New Year at the villa and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

Amazingly Peaceful!!!

  • 5 of 5

From the time my family and I arrived we found it to be very peaceful and serene. My toddler loved swimming off the dock and seeing all the beautiful fish and marine life.

Tranquility in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Went online today to check for availability at Sue' Promise for my 7th stay. I also read the reviews, however I have never posted one, (shame on me). I have stayed in both the Garden unit and the Bay unit. Each Villa has all the conveniences of home. You just need to bring food, clothes and yourself If by chance you arrive at night the Villas includes a "start up" of coffee, tea bags, creamer and sweetner to get you started in the morning. The owner/manager does not invade your privacy, but if he see you outside he will introduce himself and tells you if you need anything "don't hesitate to ask" On one of my stays it was stone crab season, we went out on the dock to watch sunset, the owner brought out a platter of them and a bottle of white wine was provided for all to enjoy. In fact, as one of my son's wedding presents I gave them a long week-end at Sue's Promise. They have been back twice since then.

I'm sorry the family (as noted in their Aug. 30,2014) review had a bad experience. Why didn't they speak up and tell him????? I have never had a experience at Sue's Promise and will continue to stay there and enjoy the most amazing sunsets. The photos don't do it justice. The grounds are well maintained, the orchids are beautiful hanging from

the trees. It is just "Tranquility In Paradise".

A TRUE PARADISE!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Once again we had an amazing time. Every year just gets better. We stayed in the bay unit. The place is very clean and close to many places. Great location. I encourage anyone to stay there. Especially if you have a boat and like to fish the bayside or oceanside. There is plenty of space for you boat. Also great fishing and snorkeling right off the dock. The owner Charles does an amazing jobb keeping the huge property in great shape. Also the kids loved the kayak's that are available to use. You literally don't have to go anywhere. It was too bad we had to leave. We will definitely try to plan our anual family vacation there again.

I almost forgot to mention the best sunsets in the keys. Something you have to see for yourself.

Thank you for a great summer.

We had high hopes

  • 2 of 5

My husband and I had high hopes for This villa. It didn't take long for those hopes to be dashed. The communication from the beginning was lacking. A lot of unanswered questions. I take it that the owner is not a "people person". We moved forward. The day we were to check in we arrived late due to flight delay. Without the help of our GPS we would have been hard pressed to find the place. In fact it took us sometime looking around by foot with flashlights in the dark to locate our actual villa. No help from the owner on that one. When we got in the place was tidy but not clean by any means. There was a very strange moldy smell through out the house. The kitchen is infested with ants. Anything left on the counter was taken over within minutes. We found several cock roaches in the house. Which of course grossed me out. There is water damage on the ceilings and a lot of what appears to be unkept/ unfinished work in the villa. The wifi was "out" for days and the owner seemed very unmotivated to figure the problem out or attempt to fix it. During the middle of our stay someone had rented the villa next to ours (same owner) they threw a very loud and very late party. They were still yelling, cussing and laughing til the sun came up. It seemed like they were right outside the bedroom window. There is a lot of negative things to mention about this place. Some positives are the nice pier/ tiki hut that you can fish from and the bed was pretty comfortable. So if you are just looking for a bed to lay your head down and don't mind the price it's ok... We really expected more on so many levels. I would not recommend this place. To put my opinion in perspective this is the FIRST bad review I have ever written.

Owner's Response: No one should have a bad experience, so very different from our Sue's Promise norm. If only these guests had let me know of any problem, I would of attempted to fix the problem (to their 100% satisfaction) or promptly provided (without a hassle) a full refund, plus helped them find another place to stay. Hopefully, the roaches found were all dead from our frequent pest control services. The ant (small sugar type) problem does often occur after torrential rains, which seem to drive the ants inside. I did speak with these guests, and even provided their young son with a selection of fishing poles to chose from for his use. I'm here, only to provide assistance and/or suggestions, and do not otherwise intrude on someone's vacation. Again, no mention of any dissatisfaction was ever mentioned. I do object to the WI-FI indifference comments. The guests obviously arrived very late (in the dark) Wednesday night and did call me (in Miami) Thursday morning about the non functioning WI-FI. I arrived early Thursday night and after an hour on the phone with Comcast, the internet service was restored. Unfortunately, our guests were still without service because the prior guests, had apparently, removed a power cord to their modem. Friday morning I drove some 30 miles (60 miles RT) to Marathon, FL, where the nearest Comcast office is located, to obtain a replacement power cord. The nearby Radio Shack store did not have this speciality cord. I returned Friday afternoon and left the power cord on their entry door knob. Our guests seemed to be rarely on premise and my policy is not to enter a vacent, but rented villa. The ceiling roof stain will be resolved as a new "hurricane proof" roof was installed in 2013. The odd unidentified smell might have been from the heavy rains. Personally, we have not noticed this reported odd smell problem. In any event, I regret these folks had a bad experience.
