Vieques Island Villa Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 10

Luxury villa on Vieques Island offers spectacular ocean views and modern accommodations with 5 deluxe bedrooms on 2 oceanview levels that are both fully equipped and great for large groups. Beautiful new pool with panoramic ocean views, large outdoor living space & terrace and passion fruit, guava and coconut garden. The villa has 5 air-conditioned bedrooms that offer 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, 1 full and 2 twin beds, brand new glass tiled bathrooms, 2 comfortable living rooms, formal dining room, 2 kitchens with stainless steel appliances and flat screen TVs in many rooms. The large outdoor living area with additional living room & dining room offers sweeping views of St Thomas, Puerto Rico and Culebra. Wild horses roam on the beach at the bottom of our hill. The villa is fully equipped with luxury linens and towels, all kitchen & cooking appliances/utensils, DVDs, music, games, beach chairs, coolers, BBQ, etc.

World’s brightest bioluminescent bay: The largest of the Spanish Virgin Islands resting between St. Thomas and Puerto Rico, Vieques is a paradise we are excited to share. We’ve been frequent visitors to this beautiful island and believe it is truly a special place. In addition to the great beaches and fantastic sunsets, Vieques has one of the world’s brightest bioluminescent bays, often called the eighth wonder of the world. We encourage all of our guests to experience the bio-bay via boat or kayak. You’ll see the water splash up in a burst of millions of lights and if you decide to swim, you will move through the water like a golden angel with thousands of sparkling lights running off your body.

About Vieques: Vieques or La Isla Nena, is about the size of Manhattan (21 miles long and 5 miles across) and has approximately 9,000 residents. For years the US Navy controlled the majority of the island yet only utilized a small portion for the controversial firing ranges and air maneuvers. In 2003 the Navy closed the ranges and turned three-quarters of the island back over to the public as the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge. The preserve holds a rich variety of habitats, pristine white sand beaches, lagoons, mangrove wetlands as well as a strip of subtropical dry forest. Ironically it was the presence of the Navy that actually saved the island from run away development. Now the island remains largely undeveloped with pristine white sand beaches, wild horses, mangroves and native flora.

How to Get to Vieques: Many airlines have direct flights to San Juan International Airport. No passport is required. From San Juan there are two ways to arrive in Vieques, by plane or ferry. The following airlines fly to Vieques:

The second way to Vieques is to take a taxi to the ferry. Taxis pick you up in front of the airport and will bring you to the town of Fajardo where the ferry departs. The 1 hour taxi ride and 1 hour ferry ride is available for adults and children.

We recommend the rental of a Jeep or similar vehicle so that you can explore some of the remote parts of the island. The rental cars are not perfect due to the condition of some of the roads on the island so expect a comfortable vehicle in imperfect condition.

Awesome vacation home! Our family had a blast!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for a tropical holiday vacation for 9 adults and it accommodated our group very comfortably. We arrived late at night so it was difficult to appreciate the beauty of the home and the view until the next morning. Overall the house and the amenities in the home are accurately represented in the pictures (which is always a relief). The house is divided into an upstairs and down stairs unit with separate entrances to both. The rooms were spacious and included appropriate furnishings and individual a/c units. The remainder of the house does not have a/c units, but with the lovely tropical breeze and ceiling fans, we didn't find additional cooling necessary.

Our group consisted of 4 couples and one single person. If we had 5 couples, I think we would have needed to be creative, as one of the rooms upstairs only contained a twin bed. There may have been another configuration possible if we needed it.

The kitchen in each unit was well-stocked with everything we needed to prepare and serve meals that we cooked in the house or on the great grill. The veranda on the upstairs unit provided a breathtaking view for our morning brunches and coffees. The kitchenware, along with other home accessories are high quality. There's a washer and dryer outside under the stairs to do laundry, if needed.

The island is pretty small and easy to navigate. We rented cars but also used the taxi service while we were there. Both experiences were positive. Be aware of the wild horses and dogs that reside on the island. They also use the roads to travel, but we didn't have any problem sharing.

We had great food the entire time we were on the island. The main attractions were the dinners at Trade Winds and Next Course. Both great meals, but Next Course definitely wins the gold star for amazing food and EXCELLENT customer service. We did the bio bay tour which was beautiful (be prepared for a bumpy ride to get to the bay). We played at sea glass beach near the house, a beach at Esperanza, and Caracas (the best of the three). The house is stocked with plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers.

The hospitality we received from Ron and Cheryl (the property managers) was wonderful. They were very accessible and informative. The owners were also very responsive and helpful (Rick answered all of my questions about the ferry and prepared me for that experience.)

Overall, I highly recommend this home!!! Our expectations were greatly exceeded.

Amazing Views, Gorgeous Island!!

  • 5 of 5

The villa was awesome! It was well equipped with anything you may need from beach bags, towels, coolers, a grill, to a blender. The views from almost anywhere in the villa were absolutely stunning. Everyone we met on the island was super friendly and helpful. Everything worked perfectly in the villa and the pool was a great size! Very comfortable and spacious! We would definitely recommend the Hilltop Hacienda and would stay there again! Rick was great to work with as well! Seamless process!

So fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a nice stay. We were two families with five kids total and the layout was great. The pool was a perfect size for them. The air conditioners were really nice in the bedrooms. All together, the house had a nice, clean, friendly feeling. The property managers were amazing, helping us with every step of the way. Correspondence with the owners was fast and thorough. Overall, we were happy to be closer to Isabel, as it is or proffered town. Also, the closest beach is perfect for kids...its gentle and close!

We would definitely stay again!

Hilltop Hacienda

  • 5 of 5

Hilltop Hacienda was the perfect home for 7 of us on our family vacation. It was well equipped, clean, comfortable and has a glorious pool. The ocean view from the patio/deck is breathtaking and there is a lovely beach within walking distance. We loved everything about our Vieques trip. An incredible tour at the Biobay, beautiful uncrowded beaches, a home with a pool for relaxing, places to snorkel and some fun restaurants. Rick and Heidi were extremely helpful and kind to us. We would go back in a heartbeat if the opportunity arises.

Just returned from a spectacular stay at Hiltop Hacienda on Vieques Island. We rented both units for 1 week (8 people) and the upstairs unit only for 1 additional week (3-5 people). The home provided everything we could hope for with comfortable beds and high end linens. There were plenty of bath and beach towels for all. The kitchens were well equipped with dishes, glassware, pans and utensils and a great gas grill outside. There are 5 beach chairs and 2 coolers for the beach. Everything was clean and well cared for. There are breathtaking panaramic views of the ocean from the lovely porch and you can lie in bed and hear the crash of the waves. The home is located in a neighborhood so there is a bit of street noise, but it did not bother us one bit. The neighbors are very friendly. Rick and Heidi were extremely friendly as well and super helpful. We rented jeeps and explored many of the islands prestine beaches. They were all very beautiful and never crowded. We also did lots of snorkeling right from the shore. There is lots to see! Plan on bringing your own gear or you can rent or buy gear in town at Blackbeard's reasonably. We cooked most meals in and we were able to find everything we needed at the local grocery stores. Though I recommend buying bread at the bakery and produce at the farmer's market. We also bought fresh fish from the fish pier. You go past the ferry terminal, through the gate all the way to Pescadoria Angelyz. It's best to go between 11:30 and 12:30. The have lobster, conch and fish. We did eat lunch several times from Sol Food which is a food truck at the entrance to the Beaches at Camp Garcia (open fri, sat and sun 11-1:30). The food was seriously great. I would also recommend a visit to Esparanza. We had yummy pina coladas at Trade Winds and a nice dinner at Bili. A nighttime kayak trip to the bioluminescient bay is also a must. We went with ABE's and had a blast. You will get wet. One in our group did a fishing charter with Amity and caught a red snapper for dinner! Two of our group did a dive with Blackbeard's and had a blast. I could go on and on. We really had a super time. I would highly recommend Hilltop Hacienda for your stay on Vieques!!! Another recommendation is to fly to the island from San Juan if you can. We took a taxi to Fajardo and then the ferry. It was fine but the ferry is often late and the seas were a bit rough. Next time we will fly to save time and a bit of aggravation. Can't wait to go back!!!

Wonderful place for relaxing cacation

  • 5 of 5

I booked the hilltop house for a long weekend with my family. It was a perfect house for our group of seven, with room to spare! We ate breakfast on the upstairs patio every morning. It was just a short walk to the beach, but we did rent a car to get to restaurants, food store and to get to the bioluminescence bay. Everyone had a great time walking the wonderful beaches, snorkeling and taking in the beautiful island!

Car: recommended

Villa Borinquen on Vieques Island is surrounded with wonderful swimming beaches, glorious sunsets and rolling hills where wild horses roam. It is about 5 minutes from the main town of Isabell Segunda where there are many shops and restaurants as well as about 15 minutes from the town of Esperanza with a great boardwalk and more shops, restaurants and water sports. Pristine beaches, crystal clear waters, amazing snorkeling, beautiful sunsets, friendly locals, outstanding wildlife, fresh mangoes, coconuts, oranges, guava and an array of local fruit and vegetables, great restaurants, art galleries and museums await your arrival.
