Whether your music be the timeless songs of crickets and birds, or a favorite tune wafting from any of twenty-four high end speakers throughout, or a choice melody played live in the rich tones of a 1917 Steinway piano, and with window views to two tiled courtyards with tiered fountains, the beckoning pool & spa, a spacious green yard with citrus trees, roses, fragrant vines, colorful flower beds, Apache onyx boulders, stone benches to meditate by the cascading serenity of the water garden, with its live goldfish and charming teak footbridge, and capped by stunning views of the mountains beyond, Ocotillo Oasis presents a soothing feast for the senses and captivates with a healing calm for the soul.
Not just another vacation rental, Ocotillo Oasis offers the warmth and welcome of a true home, with a skillful blend of old Hollywood glamour and state of the art amenities. A picturesque desert garden of ocotillo, rock, assorted cactus, and native vegetation will greet you as you enter the circular drive outside this walled compound, its four gated passes betraying barely a hint of the pleasures hidden beyond the periphery of this 1933 Spanish style gem. Through one gate (all gates and doors personally coded for you, forget about lost keys or lock-outs), a cobblestone path leads you through a lush landscape of vines, herbs, flowers and trees, where you might linger on a bench, relaxing to the gentle trickle of a fountain, or the soft coo of a dove. When you reach the tiled forecourt, you find to one side the wide double gates, convenient when entertaining larger numbers, or accepting over-sized deliveries, and opposite these a front door, simple and without expectation, until you open it to be lured, in an instant, deeper into this sanctuary and further from the worries and obligations that so often weigh on, distract from, or interrupt what should be our journey of pleasure, beauty and discovery.
Here you will begin to recharge that wonder. From the handcrafted Oriental rugs on tile floors, to century old images in paintings and photographs adorning the walls, a collection of early electric clocks by Telechron, masters of design and engineering, and all basking in the glow of vintage art deco light fixtures of unparalleled elegance, these are the details that breathe magic back to the imagination.

Ralph Morrison (owner) purchased this house in 2003
We arrived for Easter break to jazz playing softly thruout the house and a
wonderful gift basket for the Holiday. Ralph the owner saw to every possible comfort of home and we felt immediately welcomed.
It is obvious that the home has been well cared for and there is ample room
for a family of 6.
We loved all the movie memorabilia that is throughout the house.
The back yard is beautiful and we enjoyed a couple of days by the pool.
We have been renting homes from Home Away for several years and this
is one of the nicest properties we have ever rented.
Ralph the owner is a wondeerful & caring man and we appreciated the
Four colleagues who live in very cold places were looking for a place to warm up and do some design work over a long weekend in January. This was the perfect place. The owner is fantastic and answered many of our planning questions ahead of time. The place is not only beautiful but well maintained and the back yard, pool and spa are DIVINE! The layout is designed as three master suites each with it's own bathroom making privacy when you want it possible and group time when you want it comfortable and fun. Will definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. A short 15 minute walk in to Palm Springs adds variety without adding another rental car! We had a great time!
We stayed at Ocotillo Oasis over Thanksgiving. The experience was great from first contact with Ralph to the final contact where he was kind enough to return my daughters shampoo that she left in the house. He went well beyond just providing a lovely home with beautiful furnishings. He made every effort to make sure our Thanksgiving was a lovely vacation. The house is located in a beautiful old Palm Springs neighborhood. We were close enough to walk to stores and restaurants. Ocotillo Oasis is just that. It has a beautiful backyard with not only a great pool and spa…it has great little areas where you can sit and read and even sit next to a lovely fish pond. It also has a great floor plan that gives privacy to each bedroom. There is a bedroom and bath on opposite sides of the living room and another bedroom suite with a separate outdoor entrance. If I had to find anything I would change it would be the beds are a bit on the firm side. Maybe a temperpedic topper would help them out. This would not deter me from staying there again and we most definitely are planning to next year.
This is a really unique house with a lot of charm, a beautifully landscaped backyard, and a convenient location. It has a classic cozy feel and huge selection of movies for you to spend your evenings together. The pool is clean and is a perfect size for the whole family to enjoy swimming and catching sun light. The garden is wonderful with fresh oranges, lemons and grapefruits, always blooms and smells so nice any time you spend outside. Owner was really nice and helpful during our stay there. We had a great time in that house, definitely will come back in the future, thank you Ralph!
Sasha and family.
We had a terrific time at Ocotillo Oasis. We spent 8 nights at the house. The two rooms inside the house were large and very comfortable. And the casita, which is attached to the house, also was good size and had its own bathroom. The living areas were comfortable, and we wore out the flat screen TV watching the NCAA tournament. We had a party of 16 for dinner one night and had plenty of room.
The highlight of the house is the backyard area. It features an outstanding pool along with a unique array of fountains, pots, chairs, etc..Beautiful landscaping. It even had a koi pond. We loved drinking our morning coffee out there, and then relaxing under the sun in the afternoon with a view of the mountains.
We liked the location. Only a couple of minutes to downtown Palm Springs, which we enjoyed immensely. Also, a great place for coffee nearby.
Finally, a word about Ralph. If we needed anything, Ralph was right there. He brought over a table and extra chairs for our dinner. He couldn't have been nicer.
All in all, we give an enthusiastic thumbs up for Ocotillo Oasis. We hope to return one day soon.
What an amazing curation! What a special place! Everything - from the DVD collection to the framed photos to the universal remote to the amazing deco lamp base with the silver sphere in the garden to the koi pond - were beyond amazing. It really made my birthday a treat. I hope to stay there again in the future!
Approximately one mile to an easy hike (1.8 loop) up Taquitz canyon to the falls of 'shangri la,'made famous by Frank Capra's 1937 'Lost Horizon.' A few short blocks from Ocotillo Oasis is a footbridge and beautiful walk along the wash. Walking distance to banks (approximately one mile) and downtown shopping district, Bus service also available close by on Palm Canyon. Restaurants as close as 1/4 mile.
