Why Owner chose Gaylord

We chose to build this vacation rental as this area is centrally located close to hundreds of things to do, from kids to

elderly. Gaylord has more than 30 golf courses, ski resorts, snowmobile trails, waterparks all within a very short drive. We are within an hour to Mackinac, 45 minutes to Traverse City or Petoskey.

This home is located in a private, peaceful neighborhood.

What makes this chalet unique

There is so much to do at the home such as kayaking, paddleboating or rowboating as all these boats are located on your own private sandy beach along with a swim platform or you can relax on the deck in your outdoor hot tub which is usable all year 'round or you can

take the kids to the pool just down the road, walking distance. You can also rent a pontoon on the big lake which is just across the road from chalet. You can view the bigger lake also from the deck. Breathtaking sunsets also. Watch the eagles which live on the lake along with loon, woodpeckers, swans, hummingbirds, you name it! I've even seen owls.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dorene has thought of everything for the renters in this place!! We enjoyed our stay so much and couldn't have asked for anything more. What a great way to get away and relax and still be able to do it all. Typically you can sacrifice privacy when you stay on a lake but not at The Bear's Den!! You get the privacy of a wooded area w/ all the amenities of being on a lake and in assoc w/ a pool. We had the best vacation ever and hope that we can do it again and continue to make more great memories!! Dorene is the greatest!! If you are looking for a place that has it all then this is your place!!

Exceeded Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Bear's Den truly exceeded our expectations! The home was very clean, and I am very picky about that! The beds were also very comfortable. This rental had so many convenience items a lot of rentals don't have...logs already in the fireplace, extra trash bags, paper towels, bath towels and wash clothes, washer and dryer with laundry detergent, dishwasher with dish soap, Dish Network, DVD player with DVD's, pool table, hot tub etc...The owners are great and were very prompt to answer any questions that we had. The only thing renters need to be aware of is there are about 20 steps from the parking area down to the house. We definitely hope to stay here again!

Owner's Response: We take pride in our homes and constantly update to make guests stay more comfortable and memorable. My homes are set up as a home away from home.....with extras! Basically all you need to bring is food and drink, most kitchen staples are at the home. This home is truly everyone's favorite and gets repeat guests, some as many as 5 or 6 times enjoying the Bear's Den. We want the guest's experience to be unforgettable where they want to bring either their friends or family the next time. Bear's Den is very close to town also, 12 minutes and you are at Meijer's or Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner....3 more minutes and you are in downtown area for any kind of cuisine you are in the mood for.....I can even recommend some good restaurants :-)

Great!

  • 5 of 5

A group of my friends and I stayed here for a weekend before all heading back to our different living areas. It was a great time! Everything was very clean and in great condition. The decorations and furniture made it feel so homey and welcome. The hot tub and pool table were great for entertaining. There were plenty of towels (and blankets) to be used; And after eight showers, the water was still warm! All appliances (including the fireplace) worked great and we had no problems whatsoever settling in. We also spent a day snow-showing across the lake and it was a perfect, peaceful setting. Would definitely recommend to others and/or come back next year if possible!

Perfect Mid-Semester Break!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Bear's Den! The location was perfect; there was no road noise and the fall colors were stunning. The lake was calm and serene, and since it is surrounded by trees we even stayed warm out in the boats. The cottage itself was exactly what we were looking for. We loved the wood-burning stove and made ample use of all of the couches, which are comfortable beyond measure and perfect for curling up on in the middle of the day. And the hot tub!! Perfect way to spend a chilly evening outside. The Sleeping Bear Dunes were well within our driving range as well, and we got to explore the surrounding area quite a bit. On top of the wonderful accommodations, the speed and friendliness with which the owners responded to our questions made for the best rental experience I have had by far. Not only would I return to Bear's Den, I would also rent any of their other properties because of this exceptional service. My friends and I were looking for a place to take a breath in the middle of a hectic college semester, and we found it at Bear's Den. We would have loved to stay longer and are definitely looking at when we can come back!

Owner's Response: Glad these guests enjoyed themselves as we specifically set up all our rentals for the vacationer and choose our homes and locations in the middle of Vacationland. Home itself has tons of stuff to do where you don't even have to go anywhere if you don't want to. This house caters to every age group for activities for each and everyone in the group. Check out the Bear's Den, you will no doubt be hooked on this home and area itself....way too much to do to list....books all year 'round and hot tub is always bubbling!

Amazing hideaway 10/10

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at bears den for a long weekend in mid december 2013. What can i say, it was perfect. the location was wonderful, there was a lot of snow so we enjoyed walking around the lake and surrounding areas.

Everything is provided at bears den, the hot tub was wonderful in the snow and the log stove.

We used bears den as a base to go skiing and visit some brewerys in surrounding areas. great base to enjoy Michigan. I would 100% reccomend this place and the ownders we wonderful and accomadating.

I will be returning in the summer to enjoy the lake and the sunshine.

Thanks again.

Lots to do here and plenty of room to do it!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Bears Den, there were 2 adults and 5 teenagers! We practically had to drag the kids away from cabin to go into town!! Before our trip was over we were already planning our next trip for October! Movies to watch, lake, hot tub beautiful decor and very very clean! You wont regret your time here. Thanks for such a nice place to relax on a long weekend.

Owner's Response: Too funny but heard this over and over again about dragging kids/teenagers/dogs, etc. from the cottage to go anywhere. We try and set up a vacation home strictly for the vacationer and cover all angles for all ages...come and check out The Bear's Den.....bring the grandkids to catch their very first fish and then, they'll be standing up sleeping from the excitement....heard that before too!
