|Minimum Stay||7 - 30 nights|
PLEASE NOTE: This property has been rented for Jan - March 2016
There's a reason our property has the most and best reviews of any other in Lake Placid...it's a great value and the most fun! Truly an 'old style' lake house with one of the best docks on the best lake in Highlands County. From here you have a long, unobstructed view of the entire lake, including the stunning sunsets. Beautiful 3600 acre Lake June has the highest water quality and white sand bottom.
The home is not fancy, but is clean, cozy, comfortable, and is one of the best values on the lake. If you want a home where everything is new and perfect, then this is not the place for you. Also, if you don't like to see bugs or lizards (usually not inside!), this is not the place for you, as the lake often has swarms of various types of flying insects which appear for a day, and are gone just as quickly.
You could pay more, but why? Sure, you can rent a fancier home, but if you're staying on the water, isn't the dock and the view really what it's all about? It's hard to beat this property if that's what is important to you.
PLEASE CLICK ON THE 'VIEW CALENDAR' ICON ON THE HOME PAGE TO SEE IF THE DATES YOU WANT ARE AVAILABLE BEFORE CONTACTING US. SORRY, WE CANNOT RENT FOR LESS THAN ONE WEEK.
I was flattered to see that some of the other property owners in Lake Placid have even copied the exact description of our property in order to promote their own on vrbo. It reminds me of the old saying 'Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.' But my response to that, and question for you, a potential visitor to our property, is 'why go with an imitation?' Take your next vacation at the most and best reviewed lake house in all of Lake Placid, Florida...ours!
For those of you with children, please know that all lake houses are not created equal. Some lakes and locations are not as suitable for younger children (or even adults) to enjoy the water in safety. This property has a 100' clean, white sand bottom with shallow water out to the end of the dock....perfect for younger children. Unlike some other locations on the lake which have dark, deeper, water with a mucky bottom near the dock, we have none of that. This is the perfect place to wade and enjoy the water whether you're 8 or 80!
Also be aware of the importance of the location of the house on the lake. Some homes advertised on vrbo are on canals, or less desirable areas of Lake June. We are on the north side of the lake (see map below), with a completely unobstructed view of the entire lake, including the lovely sunsets. It truly is about location, location, location....and we've got one of the best locations on the lake!
The home has two bedrooms EACH with king size bed. One bedroom has attached bathroom, which is small, with a very small shower. This is an old house, built back in the day when small bathrooms were the norm. The full bath (still small), is off the dining room. Also, there are no formal closets with doors, but there are places in each bedroom to hang all the clothes you would need to bring to the lake.
The sleeping porch (a/k/a Florida room) is air conditioned, and has three futons which convert from great couches into twin beds. Also, there is a comfy rocking chair with ottoman, and nice leather recliner, all overlooking the lake.
Please note: One potential tenant stopped by to check out the property when we were there and remarked: 'It is so much bigger than it appeared in the photos online.' If that is your impression from the photos, let me give you the stats on the rooms: The sleeping porch/Florida room (room on the back of the house with futons overlooking the lake). is 13.5 wide by 25 long. The bedrooms are 15 feet long by 9.5 feet wide; these numbers do not include the separate desk/closet areas shown in both photos.
I did not measure the kitchen but once again, our visitor said 'this is larger than I thought it was from the photos.' To be sure, this is not a palatial home, but perhaps it is a little larger than the photos suggest.
There are ceiling fans in every room, including the sleeping porch/Florida room. This area has what one of our visitors called 'a wall of windows' so you can watch the lake activities from the comfort of your easy chair or rocker in air conditioned comfort if you wish.
Another surprising and rare amenity at this property: enclosed porch has large hot tub and patio table with seating for six.
Large back yard has picnic table and wooden swing hanging from mossy hickory tree.
In January 2011, we replaced all carpet and vinyl throughout the house. The wood floor underneath still creaks, but everything is clean and neat. We also just installed a 46' HD flat screen TV in the living area. Smaller flat screen TVs located in bedrooms, one with DVD player.
We have excellent quality, high pressure city water coming in to the house.
The washer and dryer are located in the garage, which is not air conditioned. That's where you will see more than a few lizards which like to scoot in and out under the garage door. You must go out the front door, walk down a 15 foot covered walkway, to get in to the garage.
Most lake houses have a dock, but not like this! Two large, custom swings under cover, plus plenty of room for lounge chairs out in the sun. The rope swing is a hit with children of all ages! Feed the fish from the dock, watch ospreys, sandhill cranes, egrets, ducks, seagulls, otters and other wildlife.
Portable fire pit (supply own firewood) allows you to enjoy a campfire by the lake and roast marshmallows, tell stores, or just quietly relax.
Whether you are a retired couple looking to relax for a month or more in the winter months, or a family looking for a super fun vacation get away at a great value, this is the place for you.

We have now become a family of 9 with the addition of our two new grand daughters. We look forward to them and our many future grand children creating the same great memories we have at the lake.
David (e-mail); Vicki (phone) purchased this cottage in 2003
We began visiting Lake June 19 years ago as a weekend getaway and quickly fell in love with the area. Eleven years ago, we finally took the plunge and purchased this property. We have shared more laughs, played more games, told more stories, and had more fun at this place than at any other vacation spot we have ever visited. This is truly the best investment in family time we have ever made.
For boaters, I've installed four pilings alongside the walkway to the dock so you can securely tie up your boat and leave it in the water. In addition, there are 2 'hitching posts' near the dock where you can tie off your boat or waverunner if you wish. Owner's boat lifts may be available for use.
My favorite time at the lake is sunrise on the dock with a cup of coffee and the Good Book. There is no better time or place to enjoy the beauty and solitude the lake provides. For those who like to sleep in, and after the day-long excursions of tubing, wakeboarding, skiing, jet skis, sailing, rope swinging, water volleyball, or just snoozing on the swings, the pontoon ride at the end of the day is an all time favorite. You just can't beat seeing the sunset from the pontoon as you slowly cruise around the lake, waiving to the other boat loads of folks who are doing the exact same thing.
And after doing everything else, a great way to relax is to slide into the large hot tub on the screened in porch.
If you like to cook, you'll love the DCS Professional gas cook top complete with 4 large burners, grill, griddle, and massive exhaust hood.
For the money, you can't beat this as a place to enjoy the company of friends and family! This property has 100' on the water, and is 200' deep, plenty of room to have lots of fun in the water and park your cars, play yard games, etc. Please note, this is a quiet neighborhood so we will not rent to those who are looking for a place to have a wild party. Lots of fun, absolutely; too much drinking and craziness, absolutely not.
I cannot express my gratitude enough as to how helpful polite nice and just all out committed to making sure that we were happy.the house is beautiful and very very cozy.we try come to the lake often as we can and I always choose this house.
This cottage was not what we expected. The glowing reviews and photos were deceiving and we did not find it such a great value or as comfortable as stated in the overview. There was a lack of adequate lighting and a musty smell. To the owners credit, he had better lighting installed soon after we mentioned it. Both bathroom vent fans stopped working and even after an electrician was sent, they worked only occasionally. Ants came in through the electrical outlets in the bathrooms and an exterminator was sent to remedy, but that only worked for a short time. The microwave and hairdryer frequently tripped breakers. There are no real closets, just wire shelving in a corner of each bedroom. We could not put our clothes in the dressers due to the musty smell, we decided they must be there to add to the "cottage" look. The floors slope and the sofas are very worn, sag and are uncomfortable. The lake and the dock are the best part of this place and you will want to spend as much time as possible outside. If you come for a weekend or a week to be on the water it's probably OK, but we would not recommend a lengthier stay, especially for retirees. The owner does respond quickly and makes every attempt to resolve issues that arise. However, we do not go on vacation expecting problems.
Everything the owner posted about this lakeside cottage is spot on! Extremely comfortable, clean and cozy. We were there in the cooler weather and the provided space heaters were just right to ensure complete comfort. The dock is comfortable for lounging and wool-gathering. There were outstanding sunrises and sunsets. Nearby Jaxson's has tasty wings and very nice burgers both locally sourced. Publix/Winn Dixie are only a few minutes away and the always wonderful Highlands Hammock State Park is less than 30 minutes away. The CCC museum there is not to be missed.
My family and I rented this lake house for my birthday. We had such a great time with the rope swing and water volleyball. The house was very clean the a/c was nice and cold, the shower was warm. My kids loved that they had cable tv so in the evenings they could watch there cartoons. There is nothing like waking up with coffee in hand and watching the sun rise. The sun set was so beautiful in the evenings as well. I would highly recommand this beautiful lake house for your next trip to florida. The grocery stores are only 3 miles away, the restaurants are only minutes down the road. If you are looking for a weekend getaway or a week long trip you will find it at this beauitful lake house. We will definitely be returning.
We spent 4th of July with our family (4 adult 'kids'), enjoyed watching the fireworks, from the dock, fishing, and swimming in the lake. Kids left, and my husband I spent the rest of the week celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary! The lake is great for all ages, water was perfect! We way over packed, as the house had everything! We really only needed a few clothes, beach towels, and a toothbrush, and food of course, but Publix and Winn Dixie are 3 miles up the road. Beds were very comfortable, cold AC, hot water in the showers, and so enjoyed the hot tub! Don't forget to bring noodles and floats for the lake, so fun! Also enjoyed the wireless access, and cable, for those stormy evenings. (That's quite normal for Florida). Loved the glider/rocker on the porch, perfect for reading a good book, with a cup of my coffee from the Keurig. Watching the sun set in the swing on the dock, and grilling hamburgers on the grill. Kitchen had everything you could need for 10 people, nice pots and pans, can opener, convection oven/toaster, microwave, you name it. Can't wait to come back.
Just spent the Memorial Day Weekend with our family at this perfectly located cottage on Lake June. We are only a family of 4 but could have had a whole other family stay with us. They call it a cottage and it definitely has that "lake cottage" feel but it is way more spacious than that. It's location on Lake June made it "central station" for all of our friends staying on the Lake that weekend. They all remarked at our great find. The owners couldn't have been more accommodating and wanting to make sure all our needs were met. Highly Recommend!!
Large back yard has been used for Bocce Ball and horseshoes. Water/beach volleyball net in place for great family fun. Shallow water with white sand bottom excellent for wading and playing with small children. Lots of room to park cars.
