LAKE JUNE COTTAGE, EXCELLENT DOCK, MOST REVIEWS, HOT TUB, ROPE SWING

Lake Placid Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + A/C Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Please note: This property has been rented for January 1, 2015 - March 31, 2015.

There's a reason our property has the most and best reviews of any other in Lake Placid...it's a great value and the most fun! Truly an 'old style' lake house with one of the best docks on the best lake in Highlands County. From here you have a long, unobstructed view of the entire lake, including the stunning sunsets. Beautiful 3600 acre Lake June has the highest water quality and white sand bottom.

In May of 2012 we had a 50' white sand beach. However, with the summer monsoons, as of June 1, 2013 we now have water all the way up to the sea wall. Either way, there's lots of water and/or beach for all your vacation needs.

The home is not fancy, but is clean, cozy, comfortable, and is one of the best values on the lake. You could pay more, but why? Sure, you can rent a fancier home, but if you're staying on the water, isn't the dock and the view really what it's all about? It's hard to beat this property if that's what is important to you.

PLEASE CLICK ON THE 'VIEW CALENDAR' ICON ON THE HOME PAGE TO SEE IF THE DATES YOU WANT ARE AVAILABLE BEFORE CONTACTING US. SORRY, WE CANNOT RENT FOR LESS THAN ONE WEEK.

I was flattered to see that some of the other property owners in Lake Placid have even copied the exact description of our property in order to promote their own on vrbo. It reminds me of the old saying 'Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.' But my response to that, and question for you, a potential visitor to our property, is 'why go with an imitation?' Take your next vacation at the most and best reviewed lake house in all of Lake Placid, Florida...ours!

For those of you with children, please know that all lake houses are not created equal. Some lakes and locations are not as suitable for younger children (or even adults) to enjoy the water in safety. This property has a 100' clean, white sand bottom with shallow water out to the end of the dock....perfect for younger children. Unlike some other locations on the lake which have dark, deeper, water with a mucky bottom near the dock, we have none of that. This is the perfect place to wade and enjoy the water whether you're 8 or 80!

Also be aware of the importance of the location of the house on the lake. Some homes advertised on vrbo are on canals, or less desirable areas of Lake June. We are on the north side of the lake (see map below), with a completely unobstructed view of the entire lake, including the lovely sunsets. It truly is about location, location, location....and we've got one of the best locations on the lake!

The home has two bedrooms with king size beds, one with small private bathroom with shower. These are no ordinary beds...they are plush with lots of egg crate and foam covers which will welcome you to sleep in comfort. Second, full bath off main living area.

The entire inside of the house was freshly painted in October, 2011. We also put in new windows on the back (lake) wall, along with new back door and other little improvements.

The sleeping porch (a/k/a Florida room) is air conditioned, and has one twin bed, one brand new double futon, a single futon, and rocking chair with ottoman, all overlooking the lake.

Please note: One potential tenant stopped by to check out the property when we were there and remarked: 'It is so much bigger than it appeared in the photos online.' If that is your impression from the photos, let me give you the stats on the rooms: The sleeping porch/Florida room (room on the back of the house with futons overlooking the lake). is 13.5 wide by 25 long. The bedrooms are 15 feet long by 9.5 feet wide; these numbers do not include the separate desk/closet areas shown in both photos.

I did not measure the kitchen but once again, our visitor said 'this is larger than I thought it was from the photos.' To be sure, this is not a palatial home, but perhaps it is a little larger than the photos suggest.

Pull out couch in living area also makes into a bed. (I must admit, it's not that comfortable however). There are ceiling fans in every room, including the sleeping porch/Florida room.

This area has what one of our visitors called 'a wall of windows' so you can watch the lake activities from the comfort of your easy chair or rocker in air conditioned comfort if you wish.

Another surprising and rare amenity at this property: enclosed porch has large hot tub and patio table with seating for six.

Large back yard has picnic table and wooden swing hanging from mossy hickory tree.

In January 2011, we replaced all carpet and vinyl throughout the house. The wood floor underneath still creaks, but everything is clean and neat. We also just installed a 46' HD flat screen TV in the living area. Smaller flat screen TVs located in bedrooms, one with DVD player.

We have excellent quality, high pressure city water coming in to the house.

Most lake houses have a dock, but not like this! Two large, custom swings under cover, plus plenty of room for lounge chairs out in the sun. The rope swing is a hit with children of all ages! Feed the fish from the dock, watch ospreys, sandhill cranes, egrets, ducks, seagulls, otters and other wildlife.

Portable fire pit (supply own firewood) allows you to enjoy a campfire by the lake and roast marshmallows, tell stores, or just quietly relax.

Whether you are a retired couple looking to relax for a month or more in the winter months, or a family looking for a super fun vacation get away at a great value, this is the place for you.

Don't just take it from us, read the reviews below written by some of the folks who have stayed with us and see if this fun property is what you're looking for. If you have any doubts or questions, call or e-mail me and I'll send more information and photos and will be happy to give you all the information you need.

We have now become a family of 9 with the addition of our two new grand daughters. We look forward to them and our many future grand children creating the same great memories we have at the lake.

David (e-mail); Vicki (phone) purchased this cottage in 2003

We began visiting Lake June 19 years ago as a weekend getaway and quickly fell in love with the area. Ten years ago, we finally took the plunge and purchased this property. We have shared more laughs, played more games, told more stories, and had more fun at this place than at any other vacation spot we have ever visited. This is truly the best investment in family time we have ever made.

For boaters, I've installed four pilings alongside the walkway to the dock so you can securely tie up your boat and leave it in the water. In addition, there are 2 'hitching posts' near the dock where you can tie off your boat or waverunner if you wish.

My favorite time at the lake is sunrise on the dock with a cup of coffee and the Good Book. There is no better time or place to enjoy the beauty and solitude the lake provides. For those who like to sleep in, and after the day-long excursions of tubing, wakeboarding, skiing, jet skis, sailing, rope swinging, water volleyball, or just snoozing on the swings, the pontoon ride at the end of the day is an all time favorite. You just can't beat seeing the sunset from the pontoon as you slowly cruise around the lake, waiving to the other boat loads of folks who are doing the exact same thing.

And after doing everything else, a great way to relax is to slide into the large hot tub on the screened in porch.

If you like to cook, you'll love the DCS Professional gas cook top complete with 4 large burners, grill, griddle, and massive exhaust hood.

For the money, you can't beat this as a place to enjoy the company of friends and family! This property has 100' on the water, and is 200' deep, plenty of room to have lots of fun in the water and park your cars, play yard games, etc. Please note, this is a quiet neighborhood so we will not rent to those who are looking for a place to have a wild party. Lots of fun, absolutely; too much drinking and craziness, absolutely not.

I had the pleasure of a long term rental for this cottage. I was there from October of 2013 through March 2014. David and Vicki were very responsive to every detail. The description was spot on - nothing is overstated. I'm an outdoor person and enjoyed the waterfront and the dock. The dock provided hours of relaxation. From this spot on the lake, sunrises and sunset are gorgeous. I have recommend this cottage to friends and family! Thank you David and Vicki!!

my visit to Lake June

My husband and I rented this Lake House for a vacation for our family of seven. We found the house to be exactly as described in the listing, if not better. We found the place inviting, kid friendly, well equipped, roomy, and relaxing. The house wasn't the most ritzy place on the lake but was a place that you felt at home. The price is affordable and worth it. We enjoyed drinking our coffee together every morning on the dock which was a wonderful place to relax and talk with family. The teenagers found the hot tub a great place to hang out after a full day of tubing on Lake June. The lake is beautiful and we never saw one alligator. If you go fishing make sure you get a fishing license. We literally fished for 15 minutes the whole week and the game warden came up and ask for all fishing licenses. The owner kept in contact with us to make sure our stay was going well or if we needed anything. We would recommend this lake house to any of our family members and friends. We hope to go back next year.

Terrific napping on the large dock swings

Stayed at this great little lake house for 2 weeks. Had a wonderful time. Kids learned how to tube and hydroslidie. Nice sandy beach. The house is perfect for families. The kids love the sleeping porch, while Mom and Dad have their own private room and bath. The dock is terrific when you've had enough sun but aren't quite ready to go inside, yet. Hot tub was the icing on the cake!

What a Weekend!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our short two-day stay at the cottage. Everything was just as described or better. The information provided by the owner to help us get the most out of our time there was a surprising touch, and very helpful. For example, the welcome book included pictures on how to operate the hot tub. Impressive! But the best part of the cottage is the view ... I really think its the best dock set-up on the lake. It extends farther out and the sitting area is at the far end. Most docks have the boat lift on the end which block the best views. We loved our time at the cottage and will return as soon our vacation schedule allows.
