|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
January and February and sometimes March have all 3 seasons! We think summer here is just about perfect, but winter time is a horse of a different color -- fewer people, great weather, the perfect place to read, cook a gourmet meal (or have it catered!) and just kick back and enjoy. Wine country is close, golf is close, lots of things to do and see. And our rates are lower -- only $200-250/night -- and we don't raise them for holidays. February brings Carnaval -- Ensenada's own Mardi Gras celebration, very local and lots of fun. Whale watching has begun, boats go out daily and the whales seem to be abundant this year. Spring brings great wine tastings and dinners in the Guadalupe Valley, fresh veggies at the local markets and lots of things to see and do.
A beautiful property on a long sandy beach, swimming is perfect, surfing is so-so. To find the many attractions in this area, google Ensenada or Punta Banda and you will be amazed. La Bufadora is close by, hot springs on the beach are an easy stroll away, the Guadalupe Valley offers wine tours and tastings, great restaurants in Ensenada along with a new art museum and tons of shopping, from curios to beautiful clothes, leather goods and other items.
This property is perfect for families on vacation, friends who want to get together, or couples who want a great place to get away for a romantic holiday. We have recently had a family on sabbatical from a university located in cold country; they were here for 6 months, enrolled their children in the local schools to learn Spanish, and are reluctantly heading back to snow!
Fun shopping in Ensenada or at La Bufadora, much less hustle and bustle. Then come home, light the gas fire, watch the city lights and sip a little wine or a nice cup of tea.

We have lived here, on and off, for over 25 years and still find it ideal. The weather is great, the ocean is ever changing, the people are terrific and the choices of things to do is never ending. We bought this property as a rental and our eventual home (first we have to pay it off!) and we live just down the street.
Linda Sanders purchased this house in 2007
Punta Banda is a perfect family beach area; the beach is shallow for quite a way, the waves are gentle and occasionally even offer something for surfers. Our family has enjoyed vacations here for years and we hope other families can have the same experience. But, this is not just a 'family' house, it's a great place for that reconnection weekend you and your significant other have talked about for ages, it's a fun house to entertain friends, great for house parties (notice, we did not say 'drunken brawls') and it's the perfect place to visit alone when you're stressed out from the normal world. We can feel cares slipping away as we cross the border.
We love ending the day with a glass of wine on one of the two the decks overlooking the ocean, going out early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the estuary, bike riding along the beach and watching people just kicking back and enjoying life. The fireplace provides a cozy spot on cooler days, and big glass doors open to allow breezes to flow through on warmer days. The beach is perfect for our grandchildren, who are now ages 4 months to 23 years -- hard to beat that! Dolphins in the evenings, pelicans all day, sea gulls scrapping overhead, little skittering birds along the water all provide entertainment. For some world class meals, Ensenada is close by. Local restaurants come and go and some are perfect for a day after the beach. They currently offer everything from good Mexican food to pizza to fish so fresh that it smiles up at you. If you want to do nothing, there are movies to watch on the DVD player, books galore to read in the 'library' aka the bunk room, and lots of places for navel gazing and contemplation! We are available anytime should you need information or a fast repair or toilet paper or whatever.
My family stayed here for 3 days back in August, it was short getaway but it was so relaxing and we had a great time. Once we arrive at the house we felt right at home. All the amenties/extras you can think of were available. What really attracted me to the house was that it was large enough to invite guests for a birthday celebration we were having. Everyone that came for the day thought the house was just great... big open kitchen, plenty of seats inside and out, and 3 bathrooms! Some extra perks were that pets were allowed and that the house was equipped with a crib for our son. However, the best feature is the beach that's just steps away. As a child I used to go to Baja almost every summer, but this beach was just simply better than I remember. We didn't really get big crowds, and the water seems warmer than I remember... probably why they call it aguascalientes. I felt like a kid again riding a boogie board on the waves. Really hope to go back one day.
This is a beautiful property! The parking is inclosed on property (open the drive gate wall and pull in!) and it makes it very easy to unload and load the car at the back door. Pulling all the way through you could get two cars in.
The first thing we noticed that is not mentioned in the other reviews is once you open up the house the breeze coming through was amazing! The kitchen is beautiful and well equipped and we used it all. We cooked in most nights and it was fantastic! this house has all the amenities of home, Direct TV (master has a new flat screen), living room and one of the bedrooms. What I thought the pictures did not capture was the beautiful tile floors throughout and very nice and wide staircase to the master. 3/4 of the way up the stairs there are large windows looking out at the ocean and another deck off the left side of the house.
I think outside of the location the best part of this house is the master bedroom; Stunning! Very large (it would be like a large suite in a nice hotel). It has a set of french doors that lead to an amazing deck that was great for our morning coffee and afternoon happy hour. We spent a lot of time on that deck watching the world go by on the beach. We brought my daughter and her friend, both 15 years old and they loved it and both did not want to leave. The house is everything plus more as the owner Linda states on the site.
Although Linda does not mention on the site there were a few perks we took advantage of. One morning we had fresh tamales delivered to us for breakfast and they were awesome. I saw him delivering the day before and asked him if he would deliver to us the following morning. We also had firewood delivered as there is a little fire ring just out front on property in the sand.
The beach is very family friendly and you step into the sand right off the main deck. The front area off the deck is like a private yard with a little fire ring, very nice. Horseback riding takes place on this beach and my family all went on a ride. We waved over Ricardo and he brought the horses right to the property line and off they went into the sunset! Once you come back from the beach there is an outside shower area on property with hot and cold water. Clay steps in sand that lead to the shower area. For a day at the beach their are Kayaks (2) beach chairs, lounge chairs for the family. Best of all is Linda the owner. VERY accommodating and is well liked!!! Everyone knows her and speaks very highly of her.
We rented this home from July 1st to December 15th, and the entire stay was absolutely wonderful! My husband and I were on sabbatical and our three sons attended local schools. If you are looking for a place to read and write you'll be inspired by the ocean view and sunsets. It was quiet, calm, and safe. The beach is just steps away from the front deck and was perfect for morning runs and evening walks. Our boys were in the ocean from July through mid-October. The house is spacious and accommodated our guests who visited us during our stay. Ensenada is close enough to provide you with anything you might need, but far enough that there is a small beach town feel. The owner was amazingly helpful, but never infringed upon our space. We'll be back often for short stays and can't wait for our next sabbatical for another long-term visit!
Great location on the spit. Right on the beach, a nice gentle sloping beach with smallish waves. Good swimming beach (many Baja beaches are dangerous, not so here) but there are a couple surf breaks a short walk up or down the beach. House was great. Huge upstairs master bedroom + 2 others, 3 nice bathrooms, 2 balconies and big deck. Excellent parking. Great Views. Everything you could want including fast wireless internet, DirectTV, big, fully equipped kitchen. Owner, Linda, was fantastic: great communication and easy payment transactions. She took care of all our needs. Really an absolute pleasure and great place to say. Highly Recommended! 5 Stars.
We travel on holiday almost exclusively through some kind of house rental agency. Often the photos do not represent the property as it truly is. These photos represent the lovely beach cottage to a Tee! It is so light and airy. A mix of East/West Coast Beach Cottage. Everywhere you look is the ocean. There is an Estuary on the backside to see an abundance of wildlife. The kitchen has everything you ever need to fix a gourmet dinner for 10. You just walk off the porch, take 20 steps and voila the beach. The beach is fabulous, a few miles of perfect, flat sand. You just dig a hole and you have your own hot tub! No kidding. It's very peaceful, but plenty to do in the surrounding area. Horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, biking, swimming, surfing, fishing and on and on! The weather was perfect. We'll be back!
This was a great trip. The owners were very friendly and made us right at home. They went above and beyond to make our vacation as memorable and enjoyable as possible. I recomend this house for everyone looking to stay at the beach. Beautiful kitchen and very cozy bedrooms. We will be back in the fall with the entire family. Thank you for a great stay.
The wine country is just north of Ensenada, about an hour's drive away. It's a beautiful drive, lots of wineries to see and lots of wine to buy. Tide pools and mini hot spring close by. Bring your canoe or boat, jet ski, or Seadoos (sp?). La Bufadora is 15 minutes away, local health center offers yoga and other eastern style exercises, as well as massages that have everyone raving about them. Daily Zumba classes also held locally.During August, the Vendimia, a yearly wine festival with numerous events revolving around food and wine, are extremely popular; many sell out early. Golf is available at the Baja Country Club, a 20 minute drive and at Bajamar, about an hour north of Ensenada. Tide pools and a natural hot spring are close by; you can walk down, take a shovel and make your own hot tub! Take the kids to Las Cañadas water park (google it!) for water sports and zip lining . . . adult friendly as well!
