My wife and I stayed for a week, with two children (ages 10 months and 3 years) and my mother-in-law. We had a wonderful stay, and would highly recommend this property to others. A few tips:
- When you arrive, make sure you have a map printed (presuming that you are driving your own rental). Our flight was delayed, resulting in a night-time expedition to find the condo... not fun after traveling for 18 hours. When in doubt, just ask for directions to the Grace Bay Club (and turn right after Villa Del Mar's entrance), or just call Paul/Vicky.
- BTW, it is probably true that you could get by without a car, but ours was only $35/day from Grace Bay Rentals (you have to call to make the reservation, and they will leave the car @ the airport for you). We wanted to see the whole island, anyway.
- There is a FANTASTIC French bakery within 5 minutes walk (Caicos Bakery), that provided our breakfast for the entire week... very reasonable pricing as well.
- If you have kids, head over to Sapodilla Bay... it's ~15-20 minutes by car, but has a very shallow slope, and no waves.... great when you are 3 feet tall. Also, stop by Las Brisas restaurant, which is right by Sapodilla. One of the better restaurants on the island, and very reasonable compared to the Grace Bay area.
- There are two modern grocery stores on the way from the airport to the property... hold out for the latter of the two (much nicer/newer than the one on Leeward highway), which is right by the Seven Stars Resort.
- If you have a spare Tuesday, try the "Chicken & Ribs" night at the Tiki Hut... I think it was $15/person, and make sure to call for a reservation. You can't eat seafood the whole time (I tried). ;)
