Photos and Description of the Haleiwa vacation cottage rental
Studio, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

Nestled in a beautiful country neighborhood, with lush mountains rising above the acre that surrounds you. Farm animals add to the rural setting. In this setting it's hard to imagine that the world's most beautiful and pristine beaches are, literally, just down the road. World-Renowned Sunset Beach Is A Three Minute Walk. And more than 20 other world premier surfing spots are just minutes away, including Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay. Spectacular and magnificent beaches abound on the North Shore . . . all awaiting your exploration.

Our cottage was lovingly built in 2008. This stand alone bungalow was designed for island living with an open floor plan and high beamed ceiling. A large central skylight allows you to watch the stars at night while lying in the comfort of your California King sized bed. Smooth and cool lava rock covers the floors. Stunning ''island style'' furnishings help you to know you have arrived in Hawaii.

One of our local artists has graced our hale with exquisite Polynesian style carvings. Furniture is either handcrafted or imported from Southeast Asia.

After a day in the sun you can rinse off in one of our two rain showers: Our INDOOR marble & lava oversized walk in shower, or our large, private OUTDOOR shower. Evenings can be spent lounging on our covered lanai, barbecuing and dining alfresco or relaxing inside with our 46 inch flat screen TV. If you desire a more active nightlife, Haleiwa town offers restaurants, bars and entertainment.

Fabulous eating options abound on the North Shore: A scenic 15 minute drive in either direction offers a sumptuous variety of local, international or resort cuisine. Locally grown fruit and vegetable stands are just down the road. Ted's Bakery is just around the corner (Chocolate Haupia Pies!).

We also have a delightful grocery store, Foodland (complete with Starbucks), which is just 10 minutes away.

The tree-lined bike path across the street makes the Saturday's Farmers Market a fun and easy walk or ride. Luscious tropical fruits, flowers and local artwork are plentiful. Historic Haleiwa town, an old whaling village, has become a shopper's paradise and restaurant-lovers delight. Yet it still maintains it's old town charm.

Every conceivable water activity is easily available to you here: Surfing, Sunbathing, Diving, Snorkeling, Tide Pools, Whale Watching, Fishing, Jet Skiing and more. Lessons are available for anyone with a desire to learn.

In addition to exploring our magnificent beaches, there are countless activities for the energetic visitor. There are fabulous hiking trails including the trail to Waimea Falls.

Other must-sees for the active visitor are Waimea Botanical Gardens, Polynesian Cultural Center, Haleiwa Town, Turtle Bay Resort with it's Arnold Palmer designed golf course, ocean view spa and horseback riding.

The winter months bring added excitement when the waves swell to huge proportions and pro surfers from all over the world assemble to compete in the Triple Crown of Surfing. This is a fabulous spectator sport not to be missed if you are fortunate enough to visit during this time. You can always find sheltered beaches and smaller waves to enjoy the water if the huge ones ''aren't your thing''.

Sunset Hale is amazing!

My husband and I stayed at the Sunset Hale for our 12th Wedding Anniversary. It was absolutely perfect! The hale was super clean and had everything that we needed. We loved having the bikes and riding down to the beach to watch the sunset at night. Our only regret.. that we couldn't have stayed there longer! Sunset Hale is in the perfect location and has everything you could ever want or need. We loved it and look forward to staying there again.

We have visited the North Shore several times and have loved it, but The Sunset Hale made us want to stay forever. It is by far the best setting for a romantic get away and we hope to return for years to come.

Sunset Hale was perfect!!

This hale could not have been more perfect. Exactly as described and more. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't already provided. Extremely clean and well maintained. The circulating fan drowned out any noises by neighboring roosters. Loved Ted's Bakery, all the nearby beaches,
Haleiwa, Motsomutos shave ice, Fia Fia luau at Marriott's Ko'olina Beach Club was unbelievable, and just traveling around the island. After a busy or relaxing day, it was so nice to come back to out Hale. Ready to return!

Happy Hale

My wife and I drove into the Hale late at night and really did not know what to expect. As we pulled in, the lights had been left on as a beacon to what was to come. We ran from the car and anxiously explored the house. No detail was too small that Alia had not thought of, from bike pump and helmets for the bikes, to the welcome pineapple waiting on the counter, everything was well thought out and made our stay AMAZING.
We stayed for a full week and enjoyed every moment of it! The house is a short walk to Sunset Beach and we were able to watch surfers ride and get some quiet beach time. With the use of the bikes that were provided we rode to Ted's famous bakery to get the chocolate coconut pie and bike down to the Banzai pipeline and the grocery store. Haleiwa town was only a short car ride away, which had some great places to eat, WAILUA BAKERY, YUM! I cannot imagine staying in Honolulu after having been spoiled by the North Shore. If you truly want an island get-away with a hammock and a relaxed pace the Sunset Hale is your home away from home.

Beautiful Sunset Hale

5 of 5
Submitted: December 18, 2012 Stayed: December 2012
A year ago I made a brief visit to Sunset Hale, but this year, having had that experience, reserved a ten night stay. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is an immaculate, modern, nicely appointed and thoroughly equipped bungalow located just a block from Sunset Beach and ideally situated along the “seven mile miracle.” The property is lovely and quite private, and includes, to my delight, a resident dog, cat, sheep, and goat that will pay attention to you only if you pay attention to them, and even then it’s hard to keep them entertained. The neighboring noisy rooster situation, noted by others, appears to have been eliminated since my last stay (Alia, what have you done?), and the weak WiFi issue has been completely resolved with a new router and secured network. Because of the open floor plan, high ceilings, and round-ish (strictly speaking, a dodecagon) construction, the interior has a very spacious, breezy feel. The family of owners, residing on the premises, is reliable, friendly, and always available to provide assistance and helpful suggestions. I have been visiting the North Shore each winter for many years, and am pleased to report that there is no rental that I have enjoyed more or in which I have felt more comfortable than the Sunset Hale. I surely plan to return in Decembers to come.
