Great inexpensive family vacation spot located right on Houghton Lake. Association includes a swingset, sandbox, fire pit and sandy swimming area. Dock available for those who want to bring their own boat.

Many Houghton Lake family attractions nearby including miniature golf, go-carts, and batting cages.

Convenient to many mid Michigan attractions, including Higgins Lake State park, Hartwick Pines, Clare County Fairgrounds, Cindy Lou's Petting Zoo, Mt. Pleasant casino, Traverse City, and more.

Pets welcome. Includes standard Cable TV service.

Association Rules:: Since the cottage is a part of a condominium association, there are rules to which all guests must adhere for all to have a safe and pleasant experience: 1) Quiet hours of 11:00p.m. - 8:00a.m. are to be observed. 2) No more than two vehicles per unit are to be parked near the unit in which you are staying. Additional vehicles, including trailers, are to be parked on the lawn on the west end of the property. *Please adjust if the ground is soft to prevent rutting.* 3) ** Pets are to be kept on a leash not longer than 10ft. in length; owners are expected to clean up all pet debris as soon as such debris is discovered. 4) No immoral or unlawful conduct, including foul language, is permitted on the property. This is a 'family' resort. 5) All trash is to be placed in the container at the entrance to the property. Please double bag all garbage. 6) Common courtesy is to be extended to all owners and guests at all times

Continuation of Rules:: 7) Tents, campers or screen houses are NOT permitted at any time. 8) No vehicles are permitted beyond the drive on the east end of the property (i.e. vehicles are not permitted near the fire pit or waterfront). 9) Do not take firewood from other units. If you wish to have a fire, you must bring your own firewood. Note: These guidelines represent only highlights from the official documents of the Northwood Bay Condo Association. Owners and guests are expected to adhere to all Association guidelines as indicated in such documents. We appreciate your cooperation!

The cottage is very nice, and was just what I expected. There were several things that we were not satified with. Even though the neighboors were very close, that was ok, but the other owners were very unfriendly. The lake is nice, even if there is no beach. Would really think that a row boat should be available, even if you add a charge for this. Unfortuanately we ended up staying only 4 nights.

Please provide a list of area businesses that you can recommend. Especially restaurants. We never did find a decent one.

Summer Family Vacation Cottage

Cozy little cottage with a ceiling fan in the room overlooking the lake. A good place to stay for a family in the summer time but may get a little hot during the afternoon without a window A/C unit. Great Lake to bring a boat for the family and do a little skiing, fishing, and boating fun. Be aware of placing the boat at the dock when the water becomes choppy and much better to bring an Auger for mooring the boat near the shoreline on the right side of the dock. A swimming area is to the left side of the dock for the kids to play. Overall a great family trip that I would recommed and good community to share the lot in front of the home near the lake with.

Great Vacation Cottage

My husband and I had a great time at this lakefront cottage Memorial Weekend. The owners are very accomodating and great to work with. It's a delightful cottage where you can sip your coffee and enjoy the sunrise and lake view from the enclosed porch (or when it's really warm you can sit on the outside porch). The grounds are well-maintained and sitting right on the lake front was awesome. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. We also had a great time catching our limit of Walleye. We'd reccommend this to our friends or anyone that wants a lake front cottage for a very reasonible cost.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
