Kirkwood Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 9-10)

The ultimate Kirkwood cabin. Comfortable, rustic and updated, this cabin is situated right on the meadow, with stunning views of red cliffs and the Kirkwood slopes. XC ski, sled or snowshoe right from the house. Skiing is 1 mile away using Kirkwood’s door to door shuttle service.

The 2600 sq. ft house includes 4 bedrooms and three full baths. It sleeps up to 10 and is perfectly set up for two families. The house includes two master bedrooms with queen size beds and down comforters. The downstairs bath has twin showerheads and the 2nd floor master bath has a steam shower. The third bathroom, also upstairs, includes a bath/shower. The bunkroom on the second floor has two twin beds plus a pac n' play. The loft on the second floor has a daybed in a larger open area that is a great space for kids to play. On the third floor, accessed by a custom metal staircase, is a converted attic space with windows on either side. The room has two twin beds plus a small sofa that converts to another twin bed.

The gourmet kitchen has been recently remodeled. It includes a two oven DCS range with an oversized griddle that is great for making early morning pancakes on big powder days. The kitchen has everything you need including baking supplies and a fully stocked spice drawer. The dining room features a custom-made snowboard candelabra.

The living area has an oversized comfy wrap-around couch which sits in front of the wood-burning fireplace. The flat-screen TV is over the mantle with DirecTV, a DVD player and a cabinet full of movies. There is a large crafts table, a writing desk and a cabinet full of games and puzzles.

Wireless internet and a variety of snow play equipment (XC skis, boots, sleds and snowshoes) can be found in the single car garage. (Up to 18.5 ft) Electric Boot warmers in the front hallway makes the morning a little easier.

With its barn wood siding, rugged antiques, modern conveniences, and ultimate location, this cabin delivers a wonderfully unique and comfortable winter getaway. We are also open to allowing a well-trained dog. (Can’t go to Kirkwood without ours!)

Enjoy the perfect Kirkwood winter evening with your family and friends in front of the cozy fireplace, eating good food, watching movies, and playing games, laughing about the adventures of the day.

We had a family vacation with 9 ,6 adults and 3 children 7,6,4 . It was perfect . Everything we expected and more. The children were able to go outside in the snow and we were able to view them from inside . They had a ball sledding on Destiney/Ledgend Mt ,right outside the window . We will be back !!

Offseason Stay

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this property and it was amazing. There was plenty of room for all of us, and views were amazing. Right down from the cabin is a creek that our dogs and kids played in every day, it was wonderful. There are lakes all around the cabin, we drove 5 minutes to two of them, and one of them we hiked to - several times. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking to get away and just relax and enjoy the peacefulness as well as enjoy outdoor activities. The weather was wonderful while we were there through the end of July.

House w/ Great Character, Great Views & Great Service!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here the first week in February and were thrilled. It's the perfect combination of private, peaceful vacation accommodations and easy access to resort amenities. The house has great character w/ unique decorations (e.g a snowboard chandelier) and cozy spaces so it feels like a home instead of a generic rental. At home, our daughter usually doesn't like to sleep upstairs alone, but she LOVED the lone bedroom on the top floor, a converted attic space with fun angles. It has two twin beds in their own ends of a long room, so though it's a shared space, it felt private for each person. She slept great all week! The kitchen was well-organized (even the knives worked!) w/ a small bar area open to the dining and living room, so visiting over post-skiing appetizers and drinks was easy.

With Kirkwood just a couple minutes away, dashing back to the cabin for lunch was as convenient as dining on the slopes. With a wall of boot warmers near the front door, a roaring fire in the woodstove, and an awesome view of the meadow & mountains, lunches were so much more comfortable and quiet than staying at the resort (not to mention reasonably priced and healthy). We'd head back out to the slopes for the afternoon with toasty toes and happy tummies. During the weekend when parking was limited, the shuttles arrived so frequently, we weren't slowed down a bit and the large wagon w/ benches towed behind a truck was very exciting for the kids.

We took a day off to relax and recuperate by using the cross-country gear in the garage. There are 80K of trails that can be accessed right out the back door (literally, you could hold your breath from the house to the trail out back). Staying at the house allows free access to all of the trails (normally $20+/person each day). I strongly recommend taking advantage of the trails, especially the ones across the road where it felt like you were a million miles from civilization and the views were incredible! We didn't expect our "day off" to end up one of the highlights of the trip for the whole family.

For a relatively isolated resort, we were pleasantly surprised by all the evening options available. Access to the gym & rec facilities were included with the rental, the outdoor hottub was great. We also took Jim & Karen's advice and cross-country skied to the Kirkwood Inn for dinner - dreat adventure & great food. At the cabin, LOTS of recorded movies on direct tv, a cupboard full of games, & shelves of books.

Great place! Super nice owner!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over Christmas and left early because there was not enough snow. The owner was very nice to offer us a free weekend in the summer (we just have to pay cleaning fee). We took up on his genereous offer and came last weekend. We had a great time staying. The house is clean, spacious, very comfortable for 2 to 3 families. The firepit is a big hit for the children.

This is the first time we came to Kirkwood in the summer and it's a lot of fun. There're a lot of things to do. The children loved the hike to the Ditch of Doom. We will come back.

awesome weekend

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is perfect and decorated eclectically. It is within walking distance of the ski resort but there is also a free shuttle. I went with 6 adult and two children and it easily accommodated us all.
