when k and i first looked at the information on this place, we were interested but after going there and experiencing that great place, we knew the ad didn't do it justice. it was just a wonderful country story for us. we don't have time or space to say all that could be said. but we will just say, go there and you will know and understand the beauty of it all. the owners are great and accommodating folks and the surrounding countryside and small towns are welcoming and picturesque well worth the cost.

Within minutes of arriving at Pheasant Valley Farm we knew we had made the right decision. Both John and Vicki greeted us and took us on a tour of the property. From the homemade cookies to the wine from the local winery to the ingredients for our farm fresh breakfast we were thrilled with our decision. The houses were clean, roomy and the decor took us back in to a time when life was simple. The photos on this website are very accurate and there are no unpleasant surprises waiting for you.

The setting was nothing short of being fabulous. If you are looking to escape the city, Pheasant Valley is for you. In the evening we sat and watched the deer, during the day we hiked and enjoyed looking at the masses of beautiful monarch butterflies. We saw turkeys and enjoyed the tranquility of our weekend home away from home.

The intention of our weekend was to meet up with our Colorado family and tour the Lincoln Museum and Library which is about 50 minutes away. While we were able to do that, It was also a pleasant surprise to be able to unwind and relax in the beauty of nature.

It is our hope to one day return and spend even more time at Pheasant Farms. John and Vicki are excellent hosts and make sure all your needs are met. They recommended area attractions, restaurants and even suggested we check out the local movie theatre.

We would highly recommend this B&B, which is more of a vacation home rental, to anyone looking for a week long vacation or weekend getaway.

This is the third time we have stayed at Pheasant Valley Farms and will return again. It is short drive from St. Louis and the perfect place to get away from the city and relax in the country. Fishing was great and we actually found some morel mushrooms on this trip.
The small town of Hillsboro, IL has an excellent movie theater and quite a few good selections for dinning out. We will be back again soon.

S. Family from Ohio

We recently spent our week long spring break with our family of 4, at Pheasant Valley Farms. It was an awesome getaway. Our teenage children enjoyed fishing in the pond, (caught many bluegill and bass), exploring the trails, and visiting the museums in Springfield, Illinois and St. Louis, MO. We saw deer, turkey, long horn steers, and many bird species. It is an ideal location, close enough for day trips to the big cities, but you return to your own farmhouse to relax. The White's were excellent hosts and could not have more helpful. Our only complaint was the time went by way too quickly.

our perfect get away

Staying at the farm house was perfect for our vacation. The house was close enough to visit my family in Hillsboro, but it gave us our own house to stay at instead of renting a hotel or crowding my family.

The Whites were extremely nice and helpful. They made us feel like we were family even before we made it there. They were very accomodating and did everything they could to make sure we had a wonderful stay.

The house was nice and cozy and even with two older boys we didn't feel cramped. We were able to us the trails and the quiet road for walks everyday. We were even able to see some deer and turkeys along the way.

We couldn't have asked for anything better to stay at than this farm house. We will stay here next time we visit my family. No more hotels for us.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying at Pheasant Valley Farms, it was so nice to meet your family. We enjoyed hearing about your life in Guam and so enthused to see your sons enjoy the country life style. Looking forward to a return visit from you in the years to come. John & Vicki
