Governor's Harbour House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

We have everything you’ll need to fully enjoy amazing Eleuthera on 10-acres of land with over 400 feet of private swimming pool blue Caribbean direct ocean access, “best snorkeling on the island” per our visitors, caves, and a 50 ft. look-out tower that provides 360-degree views of the Atlantic and the Caribbean. Unique privacy, comfort and great adventures await in your very own 10-acre estate in the center of Eleuthera. This spotless clean, modern, new home features central air conditioning and amenities right on premise you won’t find at any other home.

Enjoy some of the best Caribbean snorkeling right off your backyard! Doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or advanced snorkeler. You will find living reefs and a large variety of sea life you’d normally need to go several miles out on a boat to see. It truly is like swimming in your own Caribbean aquarium – nothing like it! Just put on swim goggles or a mask and snorkel and feel that blood pressure go down.

On most days it is so calm and clear that you can see detailed reef and fish life just standing over the water. Fins are optional because it’s truly like a swimming pool and you can venture out as little or as far as you’d like, there are coral heads across the entire 400+ feet of waterfront, right near shore, simply amazing! It goes from a couple of feet of depth to about 35 feet deep.

Paradise Pointe features three bedrooms, two bathrooms on 400+ linear feet of calm Caribbean water frontage. It has a bright open floor plan, and is tastefully decorated in light neutral colors. Enjoy infinite water views from nearly every room and lots of unique activities right on the property.

Swim, take nature walks on one of the marked hiking trails, explore large caves right on our property you can stand up in, star gaze and picnic enjoying panoramic island views from our very own three story 360 degree island viewing tower!

For those who enjoy movies, or just want to remain connected, the house also has the latest Roku (offering a robust number of channels for latest news, movies and special entertainment), an activated Netflix account and high speed wireless Internet. There are TV’s with DVD players in the two main bedrooms.

This special property is in a great central location, yet it’s private but you won’t feel secluded, since you will be close to it all including the famous Friday night fish fry! You won’t find a wider array of activities at any other property, including great waterfront swimming & amazing snorkeling, hiking trails, a 3-story viewing tower, caves, and bird watching.

Cook dinner on our island-made stone artisan barbeque and dine on our 500+ ft. waterfront dining terrace with ceiling fans.

From the minute you step foot in this beautiful home, you will be greeted with endless views of the Caribbean aquamarine waters from the living, dining, main bedrooms and a sprawling balcony with patio. You'll feel like you walked into a luxury cruise ship! Enjoy incredible sunset views every evening from the balcony, see dolphin frequently, while enjoying the breezes. The magnificent star-lit skies at night will take your breath away.

High-end Comfort and Amenities: The house is spotless, bright, and contemporary with high-end plush luxury bedding in all of the bedrooms.

The fully equipped kitchen features state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances and granite throughout. Bathrooms have showers with excellent water pressure, with marble and natural stone flooring and granite countertops. And there is a separate laundry area with a full size washer and dryer.

Flat screen TVs, wireless internet, selection of DVD movies, books, games for the family and endless entertainment options via latest Roku technology.

There’s a picnic area with benches right by the waterfront too. And you'll also find a private outdoor shower for after that afternoon swim or snorkeling adventure.

You may wonder why not stay right on a sandy beachfront home? Well after many years of traveling to Eleuthera, and staying in just about every rental home on the island, we learned that most beachfront homes are on the Atlantic side where the water is normally not calm and at dusk and dawn, there are lots of sand fleas also known as “no see ums.” There so many beaches to explore on the island, that even if you stay in front of one, you will want to see others, there are literally dozens of them and they are all very different.

Also most beachfront homes are built set back behind sea oats and other natural foliage for hurricane protection so waterfront views at most are very limited, many times you have to physically walk out through the foliage to actually see the water, unless the house is 2 story and then you can see the water but only from upstairs. Or if the houses are built on higher elevations, you have to go down very steep stairs to get that sandy beach.

This is why we decided to build on the calm Caribbean side in front of our own natural waterfront aqua-colored pool. When you step into the water, depending on the tide level, it’s just 1-3 feet deep and very protected. Then it gently slopes and just 10-20 feet away from this natural shallow pool, the reefs start where you have one of the best snorkeling areas on the island with a large variety of colorful fish on the beautiful living coral reefs. It is just amazing to find this so close to shore behind your own home.

You can also enjoy hiking through several cleared nature trails and if you want to come up for air, take a walk up Le Mirador, a three story viewing tower where you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the island while capturing full island breezes (a great spot for a picnic!).

We also have our very own historical Caves where island folklore has it that early settlers sought refuge from Pirates in their search for this island of freedom!

This is all available to you without ever having to drive anywhere. Every day can be a new water and nature adventure right outside your door. You are close to dozens of beaches. We have Receivers Beach a couple of miles north on the Caribbean side which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the entire island. This is a shallow beach with white sand and full of sand dollars with amazing hues of colors. Then just less than half a mile away going South, we have one of the best Atlantic side pink sand beaches called Banana Beach which you can access right behind Sky Beach club or if you like to walk, just walk right from the house to the Atlantic side, it’s an awesome 20 walk which we and our guests do all the time.

At the house you’ll find a book called “the Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera” in that book you’ll find just about every beach on the island from north to south and how to get to each, it’s so much fun exploring the different settlements and all of the amazing beaches Eleuthera has to offer. Besides the two right near us, some of our favorites include Lighthouse Beach at the southernmost end of the island and French Leaves beach just a few miles away on the Atlantic side, both pink sand beaches.

There is no place like Eleuthera, it is truly magical, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

About Deborah

Experienced global travelers, beach and Island connoisseurs, seeking freedom from stress as close to home as possible and finding it in beautiful, magical Eleuthera

Deborah purchased this house in 2005

Why Deborah chose Governor's Harbour

Eleuthera is a Greek word that stands for 'freedom' and that is exactly the feeling you have when you visit this beautiful island and its wonderful people.

What makes this house unique

Close to to the US, yet a pace that is 50 years back in time, in an unspoiled paradise. We built this house from the ground up on a very unique spot on the island. We wanted privacy, yet we wanted to be close to the best amenities and establishments on the island. We found this amazing spot, where you don't feel you are in the middle of nowhere too far from everything yet you have the best of that world too in a central island setting with unparraleled views, swimming and snorkeling right at home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've rented homes in Eleuthera many times and this is the first time we find a property that is so nicely appointed, clean and new. There was so much to do right on the grounds. You really feel like you are on your own small island, yet the house's location can not be beat. Amazing snorkeling right off the waterfront, just an incredible variety of fish and corals, never seen this so close to shore.

Great house, Great location, Great, Great, Great.

  • 5 of 5

My family stated here for 6 days over Thanksgiving. 2 adults, kids aged 18, 15, 11. 2nd trip to Eleuthera, first time at this house.

The house is very comfortable and lays out well. Bedrooms are spacious, and the beds extremely comfortable. (very impt). Kitchen appliances very new as are many amenities in the house. House is very secluded with its own private road leading up to it, and a unique “lookout tower” which provided the best views on the island. We encountered a few windy days so time on the beach those days was hard, but back at the house my 2 teen girls were very content sunning on the back deck wind free and "plugged in" with WiFi. We spent more time than we thought at the house because it was so inviting. The trails to the caves and waterfront were awesome, we used them daily. Saw a lot of “marine life” down by the water, all very surreal.

The location of the house is ideal, as we prefer the Gov Harbour area. We drove as far south as Mate and Jenny’s (pizza) which was 20 min, and North as far as Gregory Town (45 min). Plenty to see and do in this area….especially Sky Beach Club, Retrievers Beach, Twin Coves Beach, Friday Night Fish Fry, Rainbow Inn, Rainbow Beach etc.. Newly Opened French Leaves resort is a few minutes away and a must see once there.

Planning to return to the island and would not hesitate to rent from Deborah again. She was extremely communicative during our stay and was wonderful to deal with, as was IJ who is the caretaker. Enjoy your stay!

An impressed island regular

  • 5 of 5

I've visited Eleuthera many times over the last 6 years and have stayed in different locations. This is just a few minutes south of GovHarAirport and on it's own private road. It's very private. This house is a must visit. The island itself and various homes offer beachfront privacy. This is a house on a stretch with rocks, but the entry into the water is just a few steps through a wooded path and down a short ladder, like a pool. Speaking of which, the small area you first step in is like kiddie pool, pretty low during high tide. The only other human sounds I heard one day was from someone taking a scuba dive off to the side of the home's entrance into the water. It echoed a bit up to the house, but didn't bother really. Everything in the house works including the wifi. Many of the things missing in other homes are thought of here like a broom, drink blender, and yes, extra toilet paper. The bathroom showers are nice with plenty of water pressure. The patio is long and faces the water. There are 2 lawn chairs and a table that seats 4. The table indoors seats 4 and the living room is large enough for the capacity of the house as well. You won't feel cramped. I stayed here during the holidays and into the new year, it couldn't have been nicer. What sets this location apart from the others? Privacy, privacy, privacy. Cave on property. Private access to water. Close to airport. 15 minutes to "downtown" Governor's Harbor (groceries, gas and the Friday Fish Fry). Cable&wifi. Nice kitchen. Great view every morning and evening over the water looking west. The owner is very easy to deal with. I would and will stay here again. This is a great first stay if you've never been to the island. If you want "beachfront" look into a book called "Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera" there are so many empty BEAUTIFUL beaches on the island, I've been to many of them even when staying at a beach front home and have enjoyed being the only one on each of the beaches I visited. That is how many beaches there are. Even during the busy season it's very easy to feel that you are by yourself on any beach. The patio catches great sunbathing from around 8am-5pm during the winter. This house is good for kids if you have kids that behave, the rocks outside of the wooded area can be dangerous if not careful. I as an adult even prepared and brought water shoes with me. Get a pair and take them with you even for other areas of the island if you are into collecting shells. Enjoy your stay!

Fantastic view & lovely house

  • 5 of 5

The house was lovely and we appreciated the cool, clean decor. It was nice not to have plastic chairs but nice patio furniture out on the balcony. The view from the house is absolutely outstanding and we enjoyed the sunsets each evening. All the amenities one needs were present and the kitchen quite well stocked with basics like spices etc. If there was one thing that was a bit of a nuisance it was the fact that the Wifi didn't function until about 12 days into our month long stay. As it turned out the fix was really easy but it took forever to get someone from Batelco to come out to the house and the caretaker neither appreciated how important internet was to us nor had any idea what might be wrong with it. One other consideration for travelers should probably be that the entry to the water is down a fairly steep sloping path and if someone isn't in good walking shape other houses might be easier. That said the snorkeling right in front of the house is excellent and we saw all kinds of marine life including a pretty substantial lion fish(stay away) and repeatedly dolphins came by. A/C when needed was great and the privacy at the house is wonderful. The location in the middle of the island is also great as it allows for easy excursions in both directions. All of us loved the house and our stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. Just a quick note on the Internet which as you know turned out to be a basic cord had been disconnected. I learned that the reason it took so long to fix was that the trouble ticket wasn't called into the right "support" number. Once I found out and called myself, they were out there the next day and fixed right away.

Great time, beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here May 2013 to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The home has a beautiful view of the sunset every night. The snorkeling in front of the house is great. Stick to the left side of the rocks. We saw lobster, grouper (we caught two), giant crabs, starfish, sting rays, jelly fish and huge angel fish. Although there is no beach to lay out on in front of the home we would snorkel in the morning and evening here and then explore during the day. The home has everything you need with great views from the master bedroom to wake up to. The porch is beautiful to have your morning coffee on and to eat fresh fish from the local fisherman at dinner time. Thank you for sharing your home!

Our week in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

It has been 4 weeks now since our return from Eleuthera and not a day goes by that we don't talk about it and dream of when we can come back. From the moment we arrived we knew we had found a special place (the island and the home). Paradise Pointe is accurately advertised. It felt new and clean and was very nicely appointed. We were very comfortable there. Our days consisted of visiting the beaches of the Atlantic with their crazy aquamarine water and pink sand, but the highlight was to return to the tranquility of Paradise Point and watch the sun sink into the Caribbean ocean with a cocktail in hand and a simple dinner for two.

Another review mentioned trouble with the internet. It worked fine for us the 8 days we were there. I also agree about the car rental. We would splurge for something a little better. Our car had 4 bald tires and the two airbags had obviously deployed at some point and were just stuffed back into the compartment. Now that we know what to expect we'll just ask for something a little better.
