North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains Luxury One Bedroom Viewpoint Cabin: An Architectural Intrigue for a Memorable Getaway --- Viewpoint Cabin is perched among the tall Virginia pine trees and surrounded by soft bed of mountain laurels. As you open the front door, you are greeted with a giant cedar tree in the center of the house and then you are immediately drawn to the unobstructed view through the huge windows. Viewpoint Cabin offers you light and airy interior where you feel suspended in air, well, actually, you are. When you are inside, you might curl up in the cozy window seat and catch a quiet nap holding your favorite book or step out to the view deck, perfect for enjoying the brisk morning air or bask in the warm afternoon sun on the double lounger. Come, and experience Viewpoint Cabin with your special someone. It is an ideal place for your Special Celebrations, Honeymoon, and Anniversary or just a Romantic Getaway.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: Wide open view of the mountains from every room. All one level. Hot Tub on the view deck. The most popular activities for the visitors are relaxing, watching the wild life just outside of the windows, reading and napping...but you can also find nature trails to hike, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, horse trail ride at the Leatherwood Mountains stables, or discover the nearby wineries.

Owner Description/Comments: We stumbled upon our Leatherwood Mountains home site one day on our way back home to California after a long RV trip. It was a love at first sight. We made an offer on the property the next day. We moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2003 and started planning our projects. Burdette is a retired Architect and I am a retired construction manager and architectural designer. It has been a rewarding experience to build unique mountain cabins. We have completed our permanent home in the mid 2012 and living here in Leatherwood Mountains all year around. We love to wake up in our mountains and see the tall trees, rocky creek, deer and turkeys just outside the windows. We found the gardening a challenge in the mountains but we like working at it.

Other Activities: Good fishing at Elk Creek (License Required), Community Tennis Court & Swimming Pool(summer), Wilkesboro YMCA -Good GYM- on NC268, about 20 miles from Leatherwood. My favorite things to do is take a scenic drive through Blue Ridge Parkway stop at several beautiful spots for picnic and leisurely stroll along easy trails or hike to waterfalls. Grandfather Mountain is a well known spot along the Parkway. You can go to Blowing Rock, a small resort town with nice shops and restaurants about 25 miles away. You can do white water rafting, canoeing or zip line adventure though the outfitters in Boone. Horse back trail rides through Leatherwood Mountains stable or other stables in Boone area. There are several wineries to explore in the nearby areas. Many of our guests just want to stay around the cabin and relax in the private mountain setting.

From the drive to the views this was absolutely stunning! The owners were wonderful, welcoming, and made sure we were ok and if we needed anything to let them know. They even hosted a happy hour which was so memorable because one of my husbands best friends knew the owner by way of his mother. It is such a small world! Anyway, this is a place to getaway from everything. The nearest restaurants are in Boone about 30 miles away (so you will have to cook) and that is exactly what we wanted. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle and just spend quality time in a beautiful place. The unique architecture was amazing with a tree in the middle of the home and beams through other parts it almost felt like you were in a modern tree house. You do not see any other houses from the view and there are so many windows that no matter where you are you get the view of the mountains. Since they are not in a major city, at night the stars were amazing. Along with the beautiful stars and you also have a view of the beautiful sunsets even from the master bath!
With the modern touches and still all the comforts of home it was perfect! We will be back for sure!!!!

This place is so relaxing! You will feel your stress level drop once inside the front door. Spectacular mountain views. Myung and Burdette thought of everything when they built the home. While we did spend some time out exploring the area, we also had a great time lounging at the "cabin" doing our own thing. My husband and I are already talking of our next visit.

This was such a great place to visit and relax. We stayed for a weekend in February and did not want to leave when the time came. I recommend this house to anyone and everyone!!!
