We had a wonderful Thanksgiving here. The kitchen is totally decked out with great utensils and kitchenware, and the table area is very charming. It was also lovely to sit by the fire in the rain in the large family room.

The only thing we weren't expecting (probably bc we didn't read carefully enough) was that there is no bathroom attached to the detached sleeping room. One couple had to walk in the rain to the main house to use the toilet at night.

Other than that, it's a fabulous place.

The name is a bit deceptive because there are no blue jays and the home is not painted blue but it is a quick trip to downtown Guerneville and has plenty of amenities. The parking is great. The third bedroom is detached and has no bathroom so if you choose this location you will need to be sure that you cut back on evening fluid intake or you will find yourself meandering to the main house for toileting. There are places for five people to sleep comfortably in the lower level. Additional towels are recommended and the coffee pot spits out the water so the grounds do not get amply saturated. The coffee in down is excellent. We didn't spend much time inside but the kitchen is updated and the bathrooms are clean and appealing. There is some fine entertainment in Rio Nido at the Roadhouse but the food is so-so and a bit pricey. You will find yourself a mile from Armstong Woods where there is alot of hiking and redwood trees. The home is about 12 miles from Sebastopol which is a bit more urban and not as kick back as Guerneville so unless there is an event, it might not be worth the drive. Guerneville has some fun shops, the people are friendly and there is a Saeway at the end of the road if you need to shop. There is also a Wells Fargo bank kiosk inside. The wineries are abundant and I recommend Iron Horse for the most picturesque place in the area.
